So, obviously I've been off for a while. I know I'm not exactly popular or even very good, but I'm still really sorry. I've just been really busy with 'real life' and the like. I've been considering deleting this blog for a while now, and I think it may just be for the best. I still haven't made a decision, but if I suddenly disappear, don't be all that surprised. I just want to say thanks to everyone who even read a single one of my silly little posts and I wish every single one of my followers the best of luck.

Marla stormed through the corridors, livid and positively murderous. Onlookers averted their gaze upon meeting eyes with the enraged woman. Her face was twisted in a deep scowl, brows furrowed and eyes lit with hellfire. Her hands were tightly fisted to the point where they physically ached from the tension.
“Hey. Marla Ordanaith McGivers." She resisted the ever tempting urge to throw her closest friend the bird from over her shoulder. The way Audrey’s voice clipped upon saying her full name sent a strike of fresh anger bursting beneath Marla’s skin. Part of her wanted to halt and spit a vicious "fuck off" in Audrey’s general direction, but sense kept her walking.
She entered her room silently but when the doors swooshed behind her, an enraged snarl passed her lips. Marla flopped onto her bed face first and screamed bloody murder into the sheets. She could understand why Audrey would be worried. She would have been too, if their roles were reversed. But did she really have to be so damn insensitive about it? Sure, it had been a few months since it had happened, but everyone and their grandmother knew Marla was still raw with despondency.
Eventually her anger began ebbing away into a familiar emptiness. She was starting to regret storming out on Audrey the way she did. After all, the blonde was trying (emphasize on trying) to help. Marla remained face down in her bed, foolishness washing over her.
The pounding on her door didn’t surprise her. She figured Audrey would come chasing after her eventually, it had only been a matter of minutes. She moved from her position, wholly ready to apologize, but when the doors swished open and Marla saw the anger written across her friend’s face, another spark of vexation alit in her.
"I’m sorry, am I? Should I be prancing around, happy as a fucking child, Audrey? Is that how I’m supposed to handle a friend dying out of the God damn blue? Hmm?"
"That's not what I meant, and you know it. You are losing your mind, over some boy you barely knew. You barely knew him, Mars. You can't just turn your life off for him. Mourn him, yes, but don't mope around all day every day like he was the center of the fucking universe. He's gone. You can't bring him back, and you need to move on." as she rambled on, she felt her throat closing. She wasn't talking to just Marla now, she was talking to a ghost herself as well, remembering those first few weeks after him.
Tears were streaming down her cheeks again, as she shook her head and tried to clear the fog building up inside her mind "Mars. I'm not saying you need to forget him. I'm saying you need to cope with his death in a healthy way. I know it hurts. It doesn't sting like a bitch, it feels like you've been sucker punched. And you know what? It sucks." Audrey raised her arms then let them fall in a gesture of frustration. "It really does Mars. I wish it didn't happen, but it did, and now you need to get over it."
Audrey was spewing bullshit. She knew it. Mars knew it.

Marla’s jaw flapped dumbly for a matter of moments before locking shut, a hard expression twisting her features. Her eyes fogged over, puffed and rimmed with fresh tears. “The length of time in which I know someone does not deter from me grieving their death, Audrey. I apologize that I can’t handle things as well as you can, apparently. I am not shutting down. I am merely trying to cope with the abrupt loss of a friend and a colleague." Her tone was cold, clipped, hissed between clenched teeth. To say she was seething was a severe understatement.
The movie was sappy, incredibly so. Her stomach churned unpleasantly from the amount of ice cream she had consumed, but over all Marla was content. When the screen flicked off, she remained still, reveling in the momentary peace. A slow, small, nearly inaudible smile split her blank countenance, relaxing her features. The movie served to spark something in her, something that left her feeling lighter. With a merry sigh she uncurled herself from around Audrey’s throw pillow and stretched out to sleep. A quiet “goodnight" passed her lips before exhaustion claimed her.
“ — he isn’t coming back.”

The words so simple, so plain, nothing but clusters of meaningless letters strung together, yet they felt so heavy and bit so hard, Marla physically flinched upon hearing them. "Don’t you think I know that? Did it never cross your mind that that thought is constantly playing through my own? Did it never cross your mind that the fact that he isn’t coming is what—" she paused, her voice dipping as tears began to stream steadily down her cheeks and her breathes began to shudder " — is what is tearing me the fuck apart, Audrey?"
She moved to get up, casting Audrey one last glance before storming from the library.
Audrey shot up from the chair, racing after her friend as far as the door. As they swished close after Marla, Audrey ran her hand through her hair, cursing and damning this whole situation. She let out a scream of frustration and kicked her desk before sinking into her chair. Hot tears raced down her cheeks as she let out another cocktail of exasperated sigh and tired scream. She was so tired. She had been tired for a long time.
Audrey felt a bottomless pit form in her stomach. Mars had always been the one to keep her line. The one to make sure she stayed sane. But now her very own personal ray of scatter brained sunshine had turned into a single minded storm cloud. She reached to her throat and began to play with her necklace. He would have known what to do, exactly what to do. He was always good at defusing their fights.
And suddenly, the pit in her stomach was filled to the brim with fiery anger. Shooting up from her chair once again, she stormed out to the library's doors. Grabbing the frame on either side, she took a deep breath.
"Hey. Marla Ordanaith McGivers." She screamed out into the corridors, catching the attention of a few crew members in the process. She let go of the door frame and stormed out into the corridor. She stalked her way down the hall towards Marla's room. She reached it and began to pound on the door with the side of her fist.
"Open the door Mars. Just talk to me. Look, I'm not going to say I'm sorry, because I'm not" a lie "and you know what, I think you're handling this situation pretty horribly" a half-truth this time "and really-just-open the damn door Mars!"

The empty smile slid off Marla’s face to reveal the battle-worn expression beneath. The weights of grief were already bleeding her dry, draining her, leaving her haggard and so, so hollow.
She was tired. Oh so very tired. In the past weeks (or had it been days, months, years? She didn’t know anymore and didn’t quite care) sleep evaded her, slipping from her bed when her eyes fluttered shut. Any moment of unconsciousness brought upon vicious nightmares of blaring lights and shouting and bloodshed. Consciousness only brought happy images of smiles and laughter, which only left her aching deeper. She realized she actually quite enjoyed the sound of his laughter and the contours of his smile (a discovery that left bitter trails of salt on her splotching cheeks).
"Back on track," she mimicked her friend monotonously, her face remaining a blank mask, “I tried that. Remember?"
After a while she was able to sleep again without being haunted in her dreams. She began moving around again, painting a pretty smile on her face, sketching again, no longer crying, thinking of his less and less as the days ebbed away. She was trying. Falling back into her usual routine. But it all felt so void — so meaningless. How had she done this for so long? It didn’t take much to tip her over the edge and back into despondency. She began spending days curled in her bed again, beneath barriers of sheets. It was on one of these sullen, lulling days that Audrey barreled through her door without so much as a warning and dragged Marla back to her quarters.
"Time for a relaxing day of rom-coms and our favorite boys, Ben and Jerry!" Audrey had exclaimed, a perfect ray of sunshine (it was an act put up for Marla’s sake, of course). Their day had been pleasant, a relief from the overbearing grief that weighed on Marla’s shoulder. She had laughed at her friend’s nit-picking of an ancient romance-comedy, she had smiled, she had experienced a warmth grow beneath her rip cage that she would have once thought was diminished from her being completely. For once in a long while she had felt whole again; normal. Her joy was short lived, though, after she drifted to sleep.
And when she awoke from the horrors that reeled through her mind on repeat, a familiar rib-straining, breathless ache had returned.
"I know you tried. And, in my defense, I might have overdone it with the movies. But, Mars, it's been two months. You only knew him for, what, six months? Seven? I get that you're sad. Hell, I could deal with sad. But you're shutting down." The words were flowing out of Audrey's mouth before she could properly think about what she was saying. "Dammit, you are shutting down. I feel like I'm losing you. Like one day you're going to stare off into space and just not come back."
Bellies full of ice cream and sweets, Audrey had turned off the last movie of the night. Audrey's braid slowly unraveled as she stared at her friend. Her best friend in the entire cold, uncaring universe. Marla's eyes were like clear glass marbles. They stared at the dark screen, and Audrey could almost pretend that Marla had simply become so enamored by the movie, in all it's horrid glory, that she was deep in thought about the sappy character's love for each other. She knew that wasn't the case though. Marla was lost in toxic memories.
Tears were pooling in her eyes and desperation seeped into her voice. The terror she had felt for the past weeks overpowered the logical side of her brain that told her that Marla was just grieving. Audrey knew how to grieve, she had spent her fair share of time doing it herself.
"Don't you get it? I can not lose you. Get a grip, Marla he isn't coming back"
When surrounded by friends and family, Audrey will moan and drone and complain until the cows come home about Romcoms. She hates them. They are cheesy and terrible and a waste of money.
Alone, in the wee hours of the morning, she'll pop one on and become completely engrossed and fall in love.
