Oh I am so ready for fall!
On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.
hey bestie i think ur post might be charmed 'cause you aren't gonna fuckin believe what happened today
adding my energy to this since i recently got a new job with a similar increase in annual salary
Quick Oat Bread (4 Ingredients)
This is a recipe I've adapted from various soda breads to make it as easy as possible when I'm dealing with high fatigue, low spoons, and/or no appetite. It has the appeal of warm, soft fresh bread, but the oats make it a bit more substantial.
You will need: Oven (not a microwave) Mixing bowl Spoon Cup or 1/2 cup measure (or something of similar size) Baking tray
Ingredients: 1/2 cup whole oats (not instant) 1/2 cup self-raising flour (or plain flour + 1/2 tsp baking powder) 1/2 cup whole milk A pinch of salt
Instructions: Literally just mix everything together in a bowl, then dump it onto a baking tray in a rough approximation of a round bread roll. Bake at 180C for 15-18 minutes. Allow to cool and eat with whatever you would normally have with fresh bread.
Notes: It doesn't matter exactly how big your measuring cup is as long as the three main ingredients are equal, but you'll need to extend cooking time for a larger piece of bread (or divide into two).
When you've mixed your ingredients you should get something like thick porridge, NOT like dough. If you make a dough you can shape with your hands, it'll come out too dry. This stuff should be sticky and blobby, thick enough that it holds its shape on the baking tray. You should be able to spoon it out and mash it together to make a rather un-aesthetic mound.
If it's too thin, wait a couple of minutes for the oats to absorb the milk. If it's still too thin, add a bit more flour.
I like to mix in some grated cheese to make something a bit like a cheese scone. You could also lean more into sweet flavours to make a muffin-like end result (particularly if you spoon it into cases).
This does NOT keep well, it goes stale very quickly. It's a bake-and-eat thing. I don't know if it freezes.
I haven't tried making it with non-dairy milk. The milk is providing both liquid and fat so you'd want to make sure you were using something that HAS a good amount of fat.
Throwing this out there in case it's useful to someone. Please note I can't help anyone troubleshoot (see above re: high fatigue and low spoons!).

Couple + Sibling/relative third wheel is honestly an S-tier trio dynamic and I wish we saw more of this in media.
"You are my soulmate. We are forged together by battle and tears and love. Also my brother's coming along."
"Yo."
Bonus points if the non-related half of the couple is just as committed to keeping the third wheel around as the related half.
"Isn't it weird that your brother in law is always hanging around?"
"You've got a problem with Andrew?"

“In a world in which we are used to traveling at truly high speed, why is it so exciting to go 8 knots in a 35-foot schooner? Maybe it’s because it’s nearly double her average speed. Maybe it’s because if you sit to leeward you’re really close to that stream of bubbles hissing down the side and can sense the power transferred from wind force to forward motion by a complex array of wooden construction, spars, cordage, and sails- Motion that raises a beautifully curved quarterwave right at your shoulder and sends it out across the water to make known a vessel’s passing.”

That's us, together.
While we're looking up at the Artemis II astronauts journeying to the Moon, they're looking back home at us.
In this image, Earth peeks through the capsule window, reminding us that a view like this relies on the ingenuity and hard work of countless people back home.
In the second image, we see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere.
