“Don't look at me like I’m the only one lying.”
Their eye contact became instantly unbreakable, solid as stone since the moment they first met. Ramsay's expression eased into his signature smirk as he quickly closed the space between them, collapsing in on her like the tide, and cornering her against the stone wall. He craned his neck, letting his breath linger against her throat as his chest pressed into hers. “It seems lying has become our language of love,” he kissed the edge of her mouth and then the bottom of her chin gently, a moment of tenderness before his hand grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him once more. “I see you. I see myself in you. I know you, Nora, as I know myself.”

a mix of arguments, tension, manipulation, gossiping, fighting, & general emotional messiness!
you weren't supposed to hear that.
don't look at me like i'm the only one lying.
want to tell them, or should i?
you think i don't know what you did?
i've hit people for less.
oh, i thought you already knew.
that's funny, you didn't say that last night.
say that again. i dare you.
you wanna talk about loyalty?
no offense, but if you're the last to know, that's on you.
go ahead - pretend like it wasn't your idea!
they deserve to know the truth.
you didn't hear this from me, but -
oh, so now you care?
don't flatter yourself. you were just convenient.
you crossed a line.
we had bets on how long it would last.
it's not even a secret anymore.
you don't get to cry about it now.
touch me again and see what happens.
say it again. louder this time.
you really thought nobody would find out?
don't act so innocent.
okay, but am i the villain for laughing?
tell me who else knows. right now.
this whole time, and you didn't say a word?
don't act brave now.
you're really gonna do this here?
it wasn't supposed to get this far!
you can't rewrite history.
oh, i'd never say it to their faces.
it was supposed to stay between us.
we're all thinking it, i just said it.
you're not as untouchable as you act.
do you even feel guilty?
they warned me about you.
go ahead, make it worse.
if you repeat this, i'll deny everything.
the next thing out of your mouth better be an apology.
you're about three seconds away from regretting this.
you keep pushing, and i'll push you back.
they're going to find out.
one more lie, and i walk.
they're lying to you.
you need to back off. now.
you're defending them? after everything?
don't try to hide it.
tell me, was i just a placeholder?
you really think sorry fixes this?
there's nothing left to say.
don't act like you're the one hurting.
i don't owe you any explanation.
whatever helps you sleep at night.
you should've seen this coming.
i hope it was worth it.
i told the truth. just not all of it.
you'll miss me before i miss you.
smile. you're ruining the mood.
i'd watch that tone if i were you.
it's not my fault you believed me.
you have such a talent for pretending you're innocent.
we both know this is over.
i never said i was a good person.
i thought you were different.
the mayhem. Freezing, fumbling, Fayren stumbled against the strong winds that whipped at his face and whistled about his aching ears. He tried to focus on his movement, trudging one step at a time in an ever growing sea of snow that accumulated far faster than he could keep up with. What was just at his ankles now ensnared his knees and he felt himself falling further and further behind, as if he had fallen into a timer’s sand wherein he could feel time running out beneath him. This fear was reassured by the increasingly impatient demands from the captor that hailed behind him in a furry. "Hurry up! I know you to be more nimble than this." He hissed, pausing to turn to see how far behind the smaller had staggered, and let out an exasperated sigh while he waited for Fay to close the distance between them. Nevertheless, with each step like led weighing him down and every flake upon his shoulders adding to his burdens, the cold had caught up with his overall constant fatigue and he only slowed to a stop. The Hatter tsked and shook his head. "Oh, don’t be so useless." Jervis reprimanded, as he was made to backtrack towards the failing figure. "Please, I c-can't." Fayren begged in patchy pleas, as long legs quickly closed the gap between them. "You c-can." Jervis insisted with a mocking tone, grabbing the youth by the collar of his coat and pulling him lurching forward with a harsh tug. Fayren flinched as gloved hands then grabbed at his own, but he managed to stay silent even as the man’s fingers dug into his frail wrists. "What? Do you want to die out here?" Another jerk, to which Fay finally let out a whimper, and another sigh that warped into a wicked grin. "We’re almost home. Then, you can rest," Jervis promised despite Fayren knowing him only to deceive; the boy knew better than to believe in hope without a loophole, and understood that even after paying the villain’s price for rest, he could never know a sleep that wasn’t plagued by nightmares. Only to wake up to another one as his reality, day after day. Long ago he gave up on the idea of adults helping or rescuing him, and learned he could only count on himself. He would have to out-trick the kingpin of deception. The Hatter loved using those sentimental words which especially stung at the heartstrings, such as home — something Fay had never known, as every environment he was passed between, he remained forever a prisoner, even long after he escaped. He didn't know what it was like to have loving family members to watch over him and protect him from wrongdoers. Instead, he always ended up in their clawed clutches despite his best attempts to keep to himself and stay out of trouble. An annoyed huff from his abuser as well as a harsh yank sends stiff locked legs forward and Fay falls to the freezing cold below. More than anything he wanted to cry, to collapse into nothingness. "Stupid boy!" Snapped the man, grabbing him by the arm this time about to force him on his feet once more when a voice froze them in place. "Stop!" A stranger shouted, pointing a pistol at the pair. "Step away, hands up!"
"NOW! Get away from him." The cop ordered, unblinking with his weapon aimed at Tetch. He didn't recognize him as the Mad Hatter, just as some man about to beat on a quivering child. Fayren watched with wide eyes as Jervis reluctantly took a few steps back and raised his palms in momentary cooperation. "Are you okay?" The officer addressed him now, his voice softer as he cautiously neared the boy and offered his empty hand to help him up. He slowly stood and stared up at the figure. Fayren knew Tetch was armed with more weapons than one, and would attack as soon as he saw an opening. He had to make the right choice and do it now. Still silent, he looked to the Hatter and they locked umber eyes. Tetch could see he was about to act and smirked, assuming himself in control and with the upper hand as always. But for once, Fay had something up his sleeve. He couldn't pinpoint the shift, when more of his hours were conscious than not, and he doesn't know when she spell started to wane, or how or why, but nevertheless he felt grateful as silently, slowly, like the change of seasons, he felt himself awaken and return to himself all the while pretending to be still be puppeted by Tetch. Carefully, he learned how to perform as if he was still obeying the magician's every word. "Hey, it’s okay. He won’t hurt you anymore. I can help." Oh, how he wished that were true. I'm sorry for what I have to do, he thought. Fayren looked back at the officer, doe eyes fawning as he feigned his innocence. "C-old." The child whispered with a shiver, and quickly the man moved to take his jacket off and let it cover the small figure. His body moved on its own, automatic like the flow of a wave as he flowed with the muscle memory of his childhood training. In a flash, using his own momentum against him, Fayren was able to disarm flip the officer before either of them knew what was happening. "Shoot him!" Screamed his kidnapper, but for once he was in control. In the end, they were both enemies to him. He knew that if the officer somehow recognized him to be the Ghost of Gotham, he would immediately be apprehended again, but he also knew that Jervis would surely kill the cop given any sliver of an opportunity, whether by his weapons or the words that turned people against themselves. A shaky breath was shuddered from him. Fayren had been shot almost a year ago when he was first caught, caged in Arkham Asylum, and unwillingly reunited with his abuser. But he had never held a gun, let alone shot someone else. He didn’t think he could kill Jervis, and didn’t want to in truth, despite the suffering he caused; he couldn’t weather any more blood on his hands for the rest of his life. However, if there was anything he knew, it was how to be hurt and how to survive the damage, and therefore how to hurt others in the same ways. "Yuurei—" He began, and in an instant with held breath, Fay directed the gun from the cop to the Hatter. "Stop, don’t!" He demanded but was drowned out beneath the bullet’s boom. He heard Jervis’ howl before seeing that he had shot him in the kneecap. "Yuurei!" A title that no longer held hypnotic power over him. He didn't move but simply watched as Jervis screamed the syllables in a threat as he stumbled to the snow below. It was satisfying, finally feeling on top, like he had won, but he knew he was still far from safety. He couldn’t afford to watch the Hatter's collapse any longer, instead shifting his attention to the groaning officer attempting to get back up. Fayren threw the weapon foreign to him like a shuriken at the opposer’s chest, knocking him back as he fled, running past into the rough roads and back alleyways until he felt far enough to pause and greedily gulp air into his burning lungs. He took a moment to gather his surroundings and figure out where to go next.

"Step away, hands up!"
Fayren entered her home with silent gratitude. A small nod closer to a bow was given as he passed through the doorway and carefully closed the entrance behind him. He took a moment to stop and lean against the wall to keep his balance as he slipped off heavy boots stained by the slush and mud with sand, salt, and the rest of the remnants of a bitter winter's snow. Every muscle felt far beyond fatigued, every movement felt so slow and heavy, like he was about to faint or fall at any moment. He focused his attention on setting the pair of shoes down at upon a small mat at the apartment's entryway. Next, the teenager tried to suppress his shivering as he peeled off his soaked outer layer and hung it on a hook to dry. What was meant to be a heartfelt 'thank you' got caught in his throat and shifted into another sheepish apology, "I-I'm sorry." He stuttered softly before forcing a quick, shaky exhale from his lungs. Exhausted eyes were shielded momentarily by dark lashes closed together tightly. Breathe. All of his exertion had finally caught up to him. He had never felt so weak, so afraid, and so fried completely of the capacity to process his emotions. But he couldn’t stop yet. He had to keep pushing on, and so, Fay’s body moved without his mind — silent and steady like the ghost of a geisha — floating silently her into the kitchen. Staring off into space as she readied the herbal remedy, the macilent adolescent leaned ever so slightly against her counter as out-of-ordered memories demanded his attention. He felt like his head was spinning and wondered when the last time he got a full night’s sleep was. Jervis had liked to keep him on the brink of reality, unable to distinguish his days and nights from dreams and nightmares. They all blurred, and there was no escape. He was snapped back to the present with the shrill scream of the kettle. Large orbs of ebony blink and stare at the sound’s source. He forced another shuddered sigh as he reminded himself where he was, who he was with, and how he was in a (relatively) safe place. Only then could he return to her question: What’s wrong — what happened? And again, he falls down the rabbit hole — years, days, and hours flash by in whirl. Where does it start? And how much is too much to tell? He had been trained to hold his tongue and had done so his whole life, but for the first time it seemed like he might have found someone who would help him rather than harm him. She hadn’t turned him away yet. And who else did he have? "I-I got away, I ran and hid, and waited, t-to find you." Rushed syllables escaped him, his voice growing faster and fainter with each word, as recollections of the recent altercation haunted him. Gunshots and shouting filled his ears, he flinched and he fell to his knees, immediately moving aching arms above him as a shield out of habit. His eyes shut tightly once more, this time in attempt to stave off tears as he further curled into himself on the kitchen floor. Contorted like a question mark, he hugged his arms tightly as he waited for the frightening frenzy of fears and flashbacks to pass. "T-the Hatter, he—" Began the boy, trying once more to communicate, but weak words buckled under their weight, and instead of a verbal answer, he offered her a small pair of black gloves stained with blood and the memories that followed [ . . . ]
When she finally looked at him again, he immediately directed his attention towards the ground. His voice was delicate as the morning mist, “I-I don’t know where he is. I-if he’s looking for me. Or i-if the police are." He chokes. "I-I’m sorry, I . . . don’t know where else to go, what else to do.”

"You're not so sly, you know." Rhys said with a scoff, trying to stifle the smirk that tugged each corners of her reddening cheeks. She examined the necklace carefully. "So where'd you manage to steal this from, huh?"

Actually you SHOULD make problematic content. You SHOULD explore dark or taboo topics. You SHOULD have a space where you can cope with your traumas or explore sensitive topics in a way that doesn't hurt anyone.

Quinn only knew the kindness that briefly followed brutality; the performance of balanced benevolence and the calculated destruction of hope. She had learned at a young age to never trust an outstretched hand. Her ebony eyes studied Mary's expression with scrutiny. She had also learned when to press an answer, and when to let its absence be answer enough. "Okay," The girl relents with a soft sigh. "Thanks," Quinn muttered as her gaze skittered about, "or whatever." She added with a slight shrug and the smallest hint of a smile.

Congratulations. You are still alive. Most people are so ungrateful to be alive. But not you. Not anymore.
Your life is a lie [Name], but now comes your moment of truth.
We were all supposed to die.
You think it's the living who have ultimate judgment over you, because the dead will have no claim over your soul. But you may be mistaken.
As you can see, the choice is not so clear when you are face to face with the people who's blood will stain your hands.
The device before you is one of sacrifice. A sacrifice of blood.
Remember [Name], once you're in Hell, only the devil can help you out.
I can't die here, I have so much left to do... so many people I have to talk to. This can't be it.
This whole house is a trap!
Their salvation was out of your hands.
But with your survival, came your obsession.
I recommend you stay alive until the fucking clock counts down.
You're the last person I saw before I woke up here.
Since when has force been a problem for you?
How much blood will you shed to stay alive?
It's not over. The games have just begun.
You feel you now have control, don't you? You think you will walk away untested.
If you're going to threaten me with a knife you may as well cut me a little.
You identify more with a cold corpse than you do with a living human.
I've been having nightmares. I see him! I'm never going be able to forgive myself for what happened.
Live or die, make your choice.
At least we'll have the cover of darkness.
What's the last thing you remember?
That feeling running through your body is fear: the fear of not knowing if you have what it takes to survive.
This is not retribution. It's a reawakening.
Those who don't appreciate life do not deserve life.
So are you going to watch yourself die here today, or do something about it?
You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in.
I know it's hard to concentrate when you're surrounded by so many things you could kill me with.
He kidnapped me in the middle of the night!
Suffering? You haven't seen anything yet.
Fix me motherfucker! I'm standing right here!
We're not just going to sit here and do nothing. We need to make a decision! Don't you understand?

"Tell me," The Scarecrow begins his ceremony, grabbing and securing her limbs to the crude chair in the center of the room with an indifferent tug, treating her the same as if he were taming a rowdy animal on his father's farm. Then, eyes of ebony stare into her own beneath the safety of brown burlap. The figure of darkness tucks a strand of light, loose hair behind her ear before offering an ominous almost-smile. "What is your greatest fear?"
