vxmpiirism:
“I get the same thing when reading – it’s why I prefer books than an iPad. Maybe because I just like the smell of books and paper.” She gave a small shrug.
“to be honest, i’ve never been a BOOK PERSON either,” lennox admitted with a lift of her left shoulder. “made studying hell, but at least i don’t have to do any of that now. -- might not be a reader, but i do agree with the smell thing. for some reason, books smell RELAXING. i just don’t have the patience or concentration to read one fully.”
“gesù cristo, i’m highly considering the POSSIBILITY that my parents were right when they said that staring at a screen for too long would turn your eyes square,” lennox rubbed at her eyes. it was probably O N E of the downsides of her job -- electronic paperwork. she HATED it. “and people still wonder why i don’t own one of these things.”
ivxrys:
“At this point, I am not even sure if we have any blood left in our bloodstreams,” she mused. “Too bad there’s no such spell that would basically allow me to stay up all night, ‘cause you know I would’ve been using it over and over again just to be able to KEEP UP with everything.” Would it all be worth the hassle, though? Probably not. Ivory thinks she’s doing just fine now – having assistants and staff of highly professional people is definitely helpful; she couldn’t be more thankful for them now. “I can still TRY, though. I am sure it’s not going to be an easy thing to do, but I will do it,” just because she said so, of course. Not that she needed to – Ivy wanted to better herself in any way it was possible, and if it meant cutting back on her snarky comments to the ones that matter to her the most, she’d at least attempt to make it happen. “— it’s a thing worth admiring, it would be such a shame to destroy it just because I felt like it,” she admitted. “Not everyone’s capable of having a JLo-esque rear end, so we should cherish those who have it.”
“God, I won’t be telling you any of the terrible ex stories now – I am way too sober for that,” without missing a beat, she answered. Because, in all honesty, none of the people Ivory dated were worth Len’s time – or hers, for that matter. After all, what’s in the past, should definitely stay there. No need to keep talking about them. “Oh, I am sure she won’t want to mess with any of that. She would have to be OUT OF HER MIND to go THAT far,” she reassured, mostly herself. She didn’t know what the woman was capable of now that she hasn’t seen her a long time; she could’ve been a completely different person, for all she cared. “Not to sound extremely conceited, but… I really don’t care. – My opinion is the only one that matters,” Ivory retorted with a hint of a rather playful smirk stretching upon her sharp features. Once she heard what Lennox wrote in reply to the texts, the witch leaned in further on the counter and looked at her best friend, “— you’re a cop with not only ONE gun, but THREE. So that’s even better. – Seriously, THANK YOU.”
“to be honest, i wouldn't exactly COMPLAIN about that. sure, it would bring a few health issues and it isn't exactly healthy on A N Y accounts, but at least the smell would be tolerable. i can't stand the smell of blood, it makes me sick.” not only was the copper smell of blood a reminder of what she had done, but it was also a wake up call to what she could become. though, to be fair, living in LAKEFALLS wasn't exactly a good way to avoid such a thing considering what went on around town and, if it weren't for her grandfather, she'd have left years ago. “i don’t think there’s magic that can alter any physicality or mental state, and if there is it should be AVOIDED -- i mean, i have every faith in you and your abilities, but i wouldn’t put it past you to try something and end up with a SECOND NOSE sticking out of your forehead. can magic even do that?” lennox’s eyes glazed over for a moment as the concept of such a thing happening distracted her from the topic at hand. after a few blinks and a mental shake of herself, she returned her attention to the brunette as she took another long sip from her glass. “j-lo? now you’re just DELUDED, keegan. besides, i think i would rather not be cherished by people i don’t know. i’m paranoid enough as is, the last thing i need is for people to watch me walking down the street.”
“why’s that? is it because I’M also an ex? you should know by now that i literally don’t care about any of that stuff. we’re friends, if you want to talk to me about this shit then talk to me. è molto semplice,” she shrugged. it probably wasn't the BEST WAY to approach such conversations with an ex-girlfriend, but for lennox it is what it is. she couldn’t exactly say goodbye to the other after they broke up, and being her friend was THE NEXT BEST THING and after a few awkward weeks at the start, she fully settled into the friendship and if talking about exes was what the brunette needed then she would oblige. “well, who knows. apparently some people are just worth losing their head over. i’m sure she believes what she’s doing is normal, but the odd reminder that it’s N O T shouldn’t cause too much harm.” at least, she hoped not. drama was the last thing she wanted to fall into her lap. “i’m aware,” lennox shook her head and laughed. the cop met the woman’s gaze and smiled softly. “where’d you get that line? the internet?” it was the least she could do, anyway. ivory didn't DISCARD her after everything that had happened, so she was more than happy to step in and help out where needed. “okay, get this. i was in work the other day and one of my colleagues was looking at crime scene photos and i asked her when it happened and she was like did you not see the news yesterday and i was just like uh...” lennox made a face. “this whole not having a television is going to constantly bite me in the ass, isn’t it?”
ivxrys:
“The BITCH part comes out naturally – turns out, you’re not the only one who’s BITTER here,” she allowed herself to quickly comment, then brushed it off as if it didn’t really matter all that much. It wasn’t often that Ivory was in a good mood, seeing that she’s been constantly busy, swarmed by people she never knew – add a nagging father and a passive-aggressive mother with no temper to that, and one could see crystal clear that she had all the right to act that way. “I… should probably STOP with the jokes, shouldn’t I?” The woman asked, arching her right eyebrow upwards for a mere second as her eyes scanned the entire place — just in case. “But, I still COULD. – It is truly too nice of an arse to burn, anyway.”
“— jealousy makes people do all kinds of things,” Ivy mused, reaching for her drink once more. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she wanted to come over here to see if I’m telling the truth.” God, if she only was able to read her ex-girlfriend a little bit sooner; she would’ve been able to swerve all the way away from her earlier. She wouldn’t have to worry about anything. “Len, love – I would NEVER lie about such a thing,” was it too late to admit that the witch was such a terrible liar that the other person would’ve been able to tell when she’s not telling her the truth? “— what did you send her?”
“it would EXPLAIN the shared coffee addiction, i guess,” lennox replied as she watched the female closely. she may have deliberately sabotaged their relationship, but that didn't mean she STOPPED caring. in fact, it meant quite the opposite and there was just something about the way that the other was holding herself in conversation that sent ALARM BELLS off in her head. still, she remained quiet on the matter and chose to listen instead. “you should, but we both know that you won't,” she laughed quietly. lennox had known the other long enough to know that every pun and joke that the brunette came up with held no malice whatsoever, but that didn't mean the next person would. she would much perfer it if she dealt with the WEIGHT of them so that someone else wouldn't have to -- in her mind, it was her own little way of trying to keep those around her from a meltdown. “it's nice to know that the only reason my ass isn't getting burned is because it's AESTHETICALLY PLEASING. i guess i should be proud that my work outs are actually working.”
“tell me about it,” she shook her head and laughed again. the lengths that some would go to in the name of jealousy honestly ASTOUNDED the wolf. she never quit did understand it before -- that is, until she had R E A S O N to feel as such. the only thing she found herself being jealous of over these past several years was of HUMANITY -- she wished she could have hers back. “good thing your best friend is a cop, then. if it comes to it, i can easily put a rush on a restraining order. hopefully it won’t come to that, though.” she knew that a business owner filing for a restraining order could bring unwanted attention so the least she could do was try and AVOID that happening - and if that meant giving the ex yet another reason to hate her then so be it. “then you’re probably the ONLY ONE to think so,” she shrugged. lennox did have knowledge of the fact that the other wasn’t lying, but she often convinced herself to believe otherwise. it was EASIER that way. “i said it was me and that i had your phone and that i'd appreciate it greatly if she stopped texting my girlfriend. hopefully she'll believe it. -- oh, and i gave her a GENTLE REMINDER of the fact that i’m a cop now. that’s always a fun thing to do.”
nellarykaiden:
“Yes, yes. What a shame that lives must end early. But if people didn’t want to die then they should take better care of themselves, it’s not a terribly hard concept. Always a blame game around this place, isn’t it?”
“--- it's N O T always their fault. some people don't get a choice in the matter, and shouldn't be MOCKED because of it. someone has to be held accountable at one point or another.”
ivxrys:
“INSUFFERABLE, that one,” she murmured in response. And yet, Ivory kept wanting to be around the other person as often as it was possible. Not that she would ever dare to let her know all about it, though. After all, she still had a reputation to upkeep, and showing her weak spots would’ve been easily comparable to one of the worst things that might happen to someone in the business industry. “Trust me, I DO know. After all… I am a WITCH, and sometimes that is enough for someone to paint me as an EVIL being.” As she carried on, the woman shook her head at Lennox and sent her a rather playful glare. “— you’re gibberish. D’you want me to SET YOUR ARSE ON FIRE?”
As soon as she was back in a comfortable position, Ivory picked up her own drink, closed her eyes shut and took what it seemed to be more than just one sip of the liquor. Then, with a rather disgusted look on her face answered, “— the one BEFORE you.” She couldn’t imagine how awkward it must’ve been to talk about someone who’s no longer dating her, or in her life, in general; her face wasn’t exactly helping with stopping her from expressing how terrible of a situation it was. “I… I cannot possibly get you involved in my own mess again,” Ivy reasoned quickly. Losing her only friend would hurt more than anything ever did, so it was safer to keep her away from it, right? “In ainm Dhia, why the fuck do I keep dating such shitty people?” She wondered, her voice was no louder than a regular whisper. “YOU were one of the best partners I’ve ever had… if not THE BEST one.”
“the WITCH part i can handle, it's the incessant puns and digs at my uh... other side, that tends to piss me off,” lennox commented with a shrug. she could never truly be mad at the other for doing such a thing when she herself often delivered a MAGIC PUN here and there, but being able to control one's self and their emotional state was not often a skill that this particular werewolf had control over. her emotions got the better of her, and unfortunately anger and frustration were at the top of the list, followed by SELF HATRED and REMORSE. “you wouldn't even if you wanted to, anyway,” lennox then pointed out. “especially considering you threaten to do it at least FIVE TIMES a week. should i count this as numero tre?”
“before me? i guess THAT makes sense,” she mused. what someone did in their life before lennox came into it was no one's business but their own, but with this particular woman it was hard to remain on the outskirts -- it was like she had been pulled into a TUG OF WAR that she had no interest in being a part of, and lennox had made her feelings on the matter extremely clear. however, unfortunately for the she-wolf, it did very little to dissuade the apparently territorial behaviour of the woman that came before her. “we're FRIENDS, ivory. this is what friends do for each other,” she then answered. then, without asking for permission, the wolf typed out a message and pressed send. she then handed the phone back over to the other before turning her attention to the drink that had been given to her minutes before. “i think that's a L I E, but thanks... i think?” ivory had been one of the rare times that lennox had actually tried for a relationship, but in the end she believed she wasn't good enough and it all dissipated. “anyway...”
amarcnthiine:
“…now just listen to me, mister.” Poppy’s voice trembled with whispered outrage as she spoke to the person on the other side of the call. “I don’t care how you’re gonna get it done, but I need your people to carry out the shipment of my canvases as soon as possible. I’m already behind on schedule and I really can’t afford to lose any more - UGH.” An audible groan echoed through her surrounding as the other had cut her off, her head shaking was she let out a frustrated sigh.
lennox did T R Y her best to give the woman on the phone some privacy but the tone and demeanour was enough for her to LOSE INTEREST in her phone and glance round to see what was going on. she gave the other a sympathetic smile when the call was then cut off. “--- that sounded important.” well done, lennox. way to state the obvious. “anything i can help with?”
jacksonford:
“We’re closing up soon so consider this last call.” He was already moving around the bar, collecting the discarded used cups so he could get out of there as fast as possible. “Any last minute orders?”
“that’s fine,” lennox nodded as she STOPPED toying with her glass and took another sip. brown hues followed the male's movements before glancing around at the DECREASE in bar patrons now that last call had been announced. “need any help?”
Somewhere between who I am and who I used to be. Somewhere in the middle, you'll find me.

“Sssssh,” Ivy looked around the room, trying to identify the noise she’d just heard but it seemed to have disappeared. She looked back at the person across the counter who she’d interrupted mid-coffee order, “Did you hear that? The thumping noise?” She looked up at the ceiling with distrust. “I think we have a mouse or a squirrel or something, but my manager thinks I’m crazy.”
“did you just --” lennox's eyes narrowed at female who had just SHUSHED her. she made a face at the interruption but curiosity won out over annoyance and she found herself listening for the noise that the girl apparently heard. the wolf tilted her head to the side and FOCUSED until there was nothing but the THUMP pulsing through her ears. “sounds like a bird - probably a pigeon or something.”
xninc:
At the words of the other brunette, it made her think and soon enough she shrugged. “I’ve been called worse.” She mused as she put away the camera in it’s case. “–If you watched the news at all… Yesterday.”
“well then... i hope you KICKED THEIR ASS for that,” lennox shrugged. she then placed one the photo back down and folded her arms across her chest. “it was my DAY OFF so i haven't seen anything,” she admitted. well, that and she didn't own a television or radio so keeping in tune with things when not on duty was HARDER than some would think.
ivxrys:
“— but if I treated them like shite, would they be getting PAID VACATION, INSURANCE and other things alike? I really don’t think so, Paws,” if there was one thing Ivory cared about sligtly more than herself, it would have to be the safety of her employees. No one could really accuse her of treating them badly – God forbid they ever even thought about doing that. She would be after them in no time. “You, of all the people should’ve known that I CANNOT control my sharp wit anymore. It’s a CURSE,” a pun? Really? “It’s just like me speaking Gaelic to you all of a sudden. It’s just… TOO MUCH words, innit?”
Once she got up, Ivory began filling the empty glasses with liquor, “My ex-girlfriend – and yes, we’re talkin’ about THE ex,” she replied with a silent sigh as she slid the glass in Lenny’s direction. “She just keeps saying that she misses me, and that she wants to meet up with me to catch up. – It’s been way TOO long. I can’t do that. I… still haven’t replied to any of it.” Ivy added, then promptly took out the phone from her pocket, unlocked it and passed to her friend. “See for yourself. – I am definitely not worth the hassle.”
“like i said, GLORIFIED,” lennox chuckled. all in all, it probably wouldn't be TOO BAD being an employee of the other and she had been struggling to find a job ivory would probably be the first person lennox went to, but ultimately it didn't line up with the wolf's path -- and THAT was what mattered the most. “--- you're a terrible person, do you know that? i HOPE you know that,” she grumbled in response to yet another werewolf reference. “gaelic is gibberish, can you blame me? maybe you should learn to take a BREATH in between your words -- that would help me out considerably.” then again, lennox could barely talk. she often struggled to keep up with HERSELF when her native language fell from her lips.
“is this the one from before or after me?” lennox’s brows rose in response. “because i distinctly remember TWO CRAZIES - one who kept calling and the other who tried to stop me from talking to you,” the wolf ran a hand through her hair as she tried to picture the two of them. she could understand why someone would want lennox to distance herself from ivory when she was in a relationship, but considering the fact they had remained FRIENDLY and were still close, the wolf just outright refused; a refusal that didn’t particularly work in her favour considering how mad the woman got. “just tell her you’re dating someone else,” she shrugged as she took the phone in hand, she then read through the texts she had been shown. “she HATES me, so just say i’m back in the picture and that’ll probably get rid of her.”
- Alan Moore
ivxrys:
“Hey, now – nobody said you would have to be a bartender. I was thinking something along the lines of a PERSONAL ASSISTANT or even a SECRETARY, maybe,” anyone who could possibly be listening to their conversation would think it was something strictly inappropriate, but for Ivory, it was just a simple, innocent (kind of not really) banter. “Love, that’s ‘cause where I come from, people usually use TEN words instead of just ONE. – Our logic never ceases to amaze anyone I’ve talked to.”
She hummed, reaching out for the bottle of liquor and then set it down on the counter, right next to the other woman, “A Keegan is always right,” she murmured, kneeling to pick up the glasses. “For me, you are. At least in this very moment. But… let me tell you — The heels I am wearing make me feel like a GIANT, I can only assume that I basically TOWER over you now.”
“still not going to happen. assistants are just GLORIFIED SLAVES, to be honest, and we both know what happened the last time you asked me to fetch your coffee,” lennox smirked. to be fair, the officer did REGRET the night she snapped at the other, but job stress and another dog pun on top of another just pushed her over the edge. “hey, i use MORE than one word -- actually, it pretty much depends on who i’m talking to. it’s not my fault you can’t understand half of the stuff i say.” after a small pause, lennox shook her head. “never said i was AMAZED, did i?”
“again, by that logic i could easily say that a DELUCA is never wrong.” while the other was busying herself with the drinks, lennox absently spun her stool from side to side as she quickly scrolled through the emails that had recently arrived in her inbox. once they had all been marked as read, she turned her attention back to the brunette while resting the phone face down on the counter. “thanks for the reminder. --- do you know what i miss? conversations that DON’T revolve around my height. who were the texts from?”
