Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes
The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!
It’s very clear that you all have strong feelings about Tumblr and about this change. We hear you. The passion people have for how Tumblr works is one of the things that makes this place special.
As this rolls out over the next few days and you explore it, we’ll keep reading your replies and reblogs, so please keep sharing your questions, concerns, and ideas.
Your creativity has always been the heart of Tumblr, whether you’re the original poster or adding something brilliant in the reblogs, and nothing about this change is meant to limit that.
If you’d like to talk directly beyond the comments, leave a reply and we’ll follow up with as many of you as we can. We want to work with you to make Tumblr better.
You guys should not do this because it would Suck.
Male writers writing female characters:
“Cassandra woke up to the rays of the sun streaming through the slats on her blinds, cascading over her naked chest. She stretched, her breasts lifting with her arms as she greeted the sun. She rolled out of bed and put on a shirt, her nipples prominently showing through the thin fabric. She breasted boobily to the stairs, and titted downwards.”
‘ She breasted boobily to the stairs, and titted downwards’ is the greatest fucking sentence I have ever read.
THE ORIGINAL??
"The shift from the Afro-Caribbean zombie to the U.S. zombie is clear: in Caribbean folklore, people are scared of becoming zombies, whereas in U.S. narratives people are scared of zombies. This shift is significant because it maps the movement from the zombie as victim (Caribbean) to the zombie as an aggressive and terrifying monster who consumes human flesh (U.S.). In Haitian folklore, for instance, zombies do not physically threaten people; rather, the threat comes from the voduon practice whereby the sorcerer (master) subjugates the individual by robbing the victim of free will, language and cognition. The zombie is enslaved."
— Justin D. Edwards, "Mapping Tropical Gothic in the Americas" in Tropical Gothic in Literature and Culture.

Jesus Christ just say you hate innocent people
No idea what prompted this, but sure, why not. I hate innocent people.
people say folks with adhd struggle with "delayed rewards" aka long term goals and as such we tend to focus more on short term rewards. what they don't talk about is that at when we Do accomplish long term goals we don't actually feel anything proportionate to the amount of work we did to achieve it. In my head I suffered for a while and then money spontaneously appeared in my bank account.
"Don't you feel satisfied that your windows are so clean now?" It sucked and it sucked and now I don't care. I just remember the sucking.
“Don’t ask me how I did it, I just did it, it was hard.”
i think for a long time i fell victim to a very particular contemporary urge to consume at an excess. it’s not only a $ pressure it's so encouraged to 'productivize' the objects of our enjoyment ; and to do that publicly. One day your private relationship to music; movies;books became mediated by an app dedicated to quantifying your enjoyment. I’m talking about the tracking apps: letterboxd/storygraph/lastfm/etc. AND the Friend Group apps (airbuds for me) . It’s too normal for people to know what you’re doing & how you feel about it at any point in time. The constant possibility !* spotify wrapped spreading to everything-share your end of year stats from the CVS account you use at the pharmacy! Good book on this called the transparency society byung chul han…the expectation of total transparency in the social space is a type of violence on the individual. i mean...no, it's not a requirement, but if you have friends / online presence you likely have some form of this surveilling going on. It's 's not inherently a bad thing i guess, but in my experience you don't feel the eyes on you until you've pulled the curtain. you are aware, however unconsciously, that someone could be looking at your account. if you think you're immune to this thats your superego lying to you¹
anyway taking my music library offline has been so fun and rewarding and i'm learning to love songs again. i've even been making my own covers for some albums :P
*not gonna be using the word panopticon that is very obviously what i’m talking about. anything to avoid jargon people misuse all the time lmaoo

My little daughter cries from hunger in my arms, and I stand helpless in front of her small eyes 💔
She feels the pain of hunger every single day, and all I have left is hope and a plea.
One can of milk costs $40. For me right now, this amount is beyond my ability but together, it can be possible.🙏🫂
Please, don’t leave me alone in this pain. Even a small contribution toward this amount could help save the life of an innocent child who has done nothing to deserve this suffering.😭😭
One can of milk means food and safety for her… and a moment of relief for my heart as a mother🫂🫂.
Please be the reason my daughter does not go to sleep hungry tonight 🤍
Hunger cannot wait.🙏🥹

To my fellow Americans, the only thing that the rest of the world wants us regular rank and file citizens to do is get this situation dealt with.
They don’t want to hear excuses or want us to explain our ‘complicated, but not really complicated because it’s just your white folks be racist as shit’ political environment. They simply want the suffering to end and we are the only ones within range to do so.
"can our ai assistant help you?" "give our ai mode a try !" "our ai assistant is your new best friend !"
Forgive yourself the same way white people have forgiven themselves for slavery and systematic racism.

Tomorrow is Ramadan, a month of mercy and blessings… but we have no food to prepare for it.
While families are getting ready for iftar, I am sitting here worried about how I will feed my children. I am a mother trying to stay strong, but tonight my heart feels heavy.
I am not asking for much — just enough to buy some basic food so my children can have something to eat tomorrow. Even a small donation can make a difference for us. If you cannot donate, please share our story. Your support means more than you know.
Ramadan is a month of kindness. Please don’t let my children welcome it with empty hands and empty plates.
Thank you for standing with us. 🤍

Please don't ignore my post; donate to me so I can buy food for the holy month of Ramadan.
Will anyone sponsor a meal for my children on the third day of Ramadan? Even one meal would mean the world to us.”
Your donation is not just money. It could spare my little daughter from standing for long hours in line at the community kitchen, waiting just to receive a small amount of food in a pot. She is still a child. She shouldn’t have to wait for hours for a simple meal. She shouldn’t learn what hunger feels like at this age. Your support can help me provide food for her without the exhausting wait. It can protect her small body from the sun, the cold, and the long lines. Please don’t scroll past this post. Even a small contribution can make a real difference in her day. You are our support after God 🤍
I will help by donating

Today I turned 25… 🤍
A birthday that should be filled with joy and lights… yet it passes like the others, in the darkness of my tent.😢
For two years, my little daughter and I have been living without light.
When the sun sets, everything disappears into darkness. The night becomes heavy and silent. I hold my little girl close and wish for one simple thing… to see her face clearly, to help her not be afraid of the dark, to let her feel a little safety.🫂
My birthday wish is not a celebration or a gift.🥹
My only wish is to see light inside our tent.
I dream of buying a flashlight and a battery something so simple, yet it would change our nights and bring comfort after so much fear.
If you are able to donate, please be the light in my life and my daughter’s life.♥️
Be the reason that, on my 25th birthday, we finally see brightness after two long years of darkness. 🤍🕯️

Please help Wedad’s family 😔
I BEG YOU DONT SKIP🚨
Tell me, how can my voice reach your hearts ?
Words are no longer enough to capture the tragedy my family and I endure.
My name is Wedad Shadi, I am 15 years old, and I live in Gaza, Palestine.🇵🇸
Our home was completely destroyed, and now we live in a torn, fragile tent. We are a family of 7, and my mother, father, and my little sister Mira were injured when our house was bombed.
My mother and Mira are in urgent need of medical treatment, but we have nothing to pay for their care, not even food to survive.
My mother and my sister were injured during the war. I am terrified of losing them… please, don’t leave me without my mother and sister. They need urgent help to survive.
They desperately need medicine and medical treatment, as shown in the videos. Every moment without help is a struggle for their lives.
Please, I beg you… save them, help us, and give them a chance to live. 🙏💔
I have started school, but I could not register because I cannot afford the fees.
Please, I beg you to help us. Donate to save my mother and my innocent little sister before it’s too late. Every contribution can save a life and bring hope to a family in desperate need.
Every day we wake up to the same reality: destroyed homes, no safety, no stability, and needs that keep growing.
People think the pain paused… but for us, it never did.
Even with a so-called “ceasefire,” nothing has really stopped.
The explosions, the drones, the fear — the violations never ended.
And our suffering definitely didn’t.
Your support is the only reason many of us manage to keep going.
Your donation 🙏🙏 — no matter how small — can mean medicine, food, warmth, and a little bit of dignity in a life that’s been stripped of everything.
Please, stand with us. Don’t let this struggle fade from the world’s attention.
We still desperately need you to get back on our feet.

Do not trust people like me. I will take you to museums, and parks, and monuments, and kiss you in every beautiful place, so that you can never go back to them without tasting me like blood in your mouth. I will destroy you in the most beautiful way possible. And when I leave you will finally understand, why storms are named after people
THE ORIGINAL?!?!?!?!?!
Emmett* Till, but yes! The more you know!
His failed attempts to bring the Emmett Till tragedy to television forced him to get creative
The miscarriage of justice proved a galvanizing point in the Civil Rights Movement. Rod Serling, a 30-year-old rising star in a golden age of dramatic television, watched the events play out in the news. He believed firmly in the burgeoning medium’s power for social justice. “The writer’s role is to be a menacer of the public’s conscience,” Serling later said. “He must have a position, a point of view. He must see the arts as a vehicle of social criticism and he must focus the issues of his time.”
Soon after the trial concluded, Serling, riding off the success of his most well-received teleplay to date, felt compelled write a teleplay around the racism that led to Till’s murder. But the censorship that followed by advertisers and networks, fearful of blowback from white, Southern audiences, forced Serling to rethink his approach. His response, ultimately, was “The Twilight Zone,” the iconic anthology series that spoke truth to the era’s social ills and tackled themes of prejudice, bigotry, nuclear fears, war, among so many others.
