self-respect is a weird word because you’d think it means “having respect for yourself” but it’s mostly used in terms of whether or not a person is acting in a way that makes them respectable to everybody but themselves.

What is this years big goal? Another book?

I think this year’s goal is to learn to be most content with right where I am in any present moment. That’s hard for me. Of course there are things that I want to achieve. I get stuck thinking about the next thing and the next thing (whether it’s creative projects or just daily life), and suddenly I realize a lot of time has gone by and I’m not sure where it went. It’s a blur to do. I realize I’m just filling and filling, and I don’t know if that’s what I want my life to be about.

So I guess my goals are getting a little bit more abstract. I hope there is a new novel at some point. Maybe it’s this year. Maybe it’s not. I am happy right now though.
