Bronze Age Handstone. Denmark.

This recent find in Denmark is from the Bronze Age. The Bronze Age is the second in a three-part system for dating pre-historic artifacts. The three ages of pre-history are noted (in order of antiquity) as: The Stone Age (or “Neolithic”); The Bronze Age; and The Iron Age. The Historic Age starts sometime after that.

These are general categories. In some parts of the world, the Neolithic or “Stone Age” was followed by the Bronze Age. However, in sub-Saharan Africa, for instance, the Neolithic was followed directly by the Iron Age. And in other parts of the world, the Neolithic was followed by a Copper Age and then a Bronze Age. The terms, as noted, are general, and have more to do with the known technology available to humankind.
