Episode 3 – Pre-launch Episode Notes
We hope yesterday’s trailer has you as excited to play Episode 3 of Life is Strange 2 as we are to share it with you next Thursday!
Episode 3 will be the season’s midpoint and brings with it some important technical changes to Life is Strange 2 that we want you to be aware of ahead of next week’s launch.
[PlayStation 4 Players] Episode 2 Save Game Deletion Issue Resolution:
Some players who completed Episode 2 between January 24 and February 26 experienced a bug whereby their save game file was silently deleted. We urge all PlayStation 4 players to check their save game state now to determine whether you’ve been affected. Note that the root cause of this bug was fixed in a patch on February 26, so it can no longer occur.
If you have been affected, we would in the first instance recommend checking whether your save game was backed up in the PS Plus cloud. If it is, you will be able to download it again and continue playing with your personal choices from the last time your system synced save games.
If you have been affected and you do not have a (recent) backup of your save game anywhere, the game will add an inbuilt resolution with Episode 3:
Should the game detect that your PS Profile has unlocked the episode completed Trophies “A Long Road Ahead” and “Free Spirits” but is unable to detect a save game file for Life is Strange 2, you will be offered the choice to continue Episode 3 using one of 4 pre-generated save files. Each of the save files have followed their own set path through Episode 1 and 2 and you will not be able to edit any of the choices made previously. You will be able to choose the path which most broadly aligns with your own previous playthrough.
This system is intended to allow players who have already completed Episode 2 to skip ahead to Episode 3 without replaying the previous two episodes. It is not intended as a save game rebuilder. Replaying Episodes 1 and 2 is the surest way to recreate your personal world state.
[All Platforms] Episodes can now be skipped or played independently of previous progress.
As a result of players now being able to purchase episodes separate from the Season Pass bundle, you can now also play the episodes in any order you desire. We strongly urge you to play each episode in the order of release.
Should you skip an episode, you will begin the latest episode using a randomly selected save file of a set of pre-generated save states in the game. You will not be able to edit or select previously made choices.
Note: Should you play Episode 1, skip Episode 2 and continue with Episode 3, you will start the episode with a randomly selected save file created by the system. Your choices from Episode 1 will not be taken into account in this save slot.
