So, so far this year I have been super lucky to go on 3 holiday's this year. Pretty much spoilt myself as I saved so much money to do them and with a drum roll the three places I went too were.......Rome, Mallorca and Athens. Beautiful holiday's with beautiful people. Here's a little bit about these holiday's:
Roma, Beautiful Roma.
When I went to Rome the sights...ohmygosh. They were just insanely gorgeous and the weather...holy crap. Amazing. I have never really been to a place rich in culture and history before, I was just totally blown away with the whole place that I kind of feel like I was never there. I keep looking at my pictures like "wow who went there?" and a random selfie pops up and it hits...I was. So much to do and so much to see! Gah I'd go back in a heartbeat.
This was the view from the Roman Forum and look at the insanity of it. So gorgeous!
Sa Coma, Mallorca.
Mallorca was also very lovely and it was a family holiday. My parents and I had so much fun, cocktails at the pool and a 5 min walk to the beach, what more could you want? However...with this holiday I went straight from Gatwick (from Rome) back to my house and then left home 3 hours later to go back to Gatwick and back on another plane to Mallorca - 2 flights in a row, ack! I was soooooo beat. The most redeeming part of the plane journey was the take off though, I can't even describe to you the beauty of it. But I will at least try. So the weather was crap, very foggy and totally cloudy and then suddenly when we took off and in the air, through the clouds and BAM. I felt I had reached heaven. The sun and the sky were breathtaking. Stupidly enough I didn't take a picture and I regret it sooo much!Â
The weather in Mallorca was lavely. Catching rays, soaking them in until I turned salmon pink - dread. Rays, however, wasn't all I caught. Sadly I also caught a 24hr bug and it was the worst, missed a day in the sun and my skin hated me for it. My mum caught it first bless her heart, and went around the market with me in the scorching sun, then my dad caught it and felt awful while watching the footy and then myself on the same night, but I won't go into detail as it's totally gross.
Other than that horror, it was a lovely place and I can't fault how hard the maids and waiters worked. Props to them, it seemed like they didn't stop.
This is me (obviously) on top of the Agora hill? I maybe totally wrong here as there was a lot of things that sounded the same. But like Rome I was blown away by the sights and history.
If you want to go to Athens, make sure you go to the Acropolis first and buy a ticket, that way you can see 6 other sites like The Roman Forum and Hadrian's Library (just don't be like me and forget your ticket, to then go straight back to the hotel to enter). Totally worth it though. Also make sure you go to Philopappos Monument as you see EVERYTHING and it makes you feel so small. Which is a good thing as it puts a lot into perspective - not all your problems are as big as you make them and there are millions of people in the world in worse off positions. It also shows you how beautiful our Earth is.
With Athen's though, my best friend and I felt a little uneasy. Unlike Rome we didn't feel safe to roam the streets at night and I still don't really know why! I guess there was just a lot of people and with the buildings so close together, it was all a little claustrophobic. I had such a good time though and wouldn't change it for the world.
If you'd like to ask any questions or tell me a good country to go to, please do! I'd love to listen to your travelling tales and maybe we could share stories together :)
Peace and Love!
