Watching all the reviewers on mute during a zoom studio review.
When you are working from home and you don’t get to see any of your awesome coworkers.
10:30 am: “Hey, so we need a new finish palate and all new renderings by this afternoon. I know we just overhauled the model, but we can get it done, right?”
When someone asks you if you if you’re lost, in a building you designed.
Watching the senior members of the staff try to work Revit.
When you head out of town for a studio site visit.
It’s the same feeling for a work site visit! Huzzah!
After the value engineering happens to a project and they cut out the cool stuff.
When the boss actually likes the design you put together.
Trying to avoid the project manager who likes to hand off never ending micro-assignments without preamble or explanation.
When you meet new people who aren’t in architecture and they don’t actually look at the buildings around them.
When your project manager goes out of town and as he leaves he says, “Oh, I forgot to tell you, I told the client to call you if they have any concerns.”
When you are stuck between two project managers and their very different opinions on layouts.
Sifting through dozens of one word emails between the whole design and engineering team for the one with some relevance.
Having to coddle the engineers on a project because they will go rogue and then whine about it.
Me in my first month in a real job:
I got a job!
Weirdly enough I had an interview a few weeks ago that resembled this gif a lot...
