As we enter into freshman orientation season. I wanted to share some words. To my freshmen who are the first of their family to go to college and seek a 4-year degree. You are considered a First Generation student. Many schools have programs and clubs for first generation students to gain a support network on campus. This will allow you to connect with others like you and to learn of things you might have been walking blindly into. Unfortunately as straightforward colleges and universities tend to be first gen and POC students are more likely to fall through the cracks. This is because you don't know what you don't know. You may not know how to address all the things schools through at you over the summer. Turn in this, this, this and this. With not much explanation on why. Reach out to your schools with questions about your timelines check in with the financial aid office.
I can also assist with general guidance should you be nervous and not know who to talk to.
It's shocking the amount of time students and parents try to threaten to sue us for doing our jobs. If you withdraw before 60% of the semester your aid will reduce bucko. Can't break federal law for ya.
*looking at the DoE suspiciously*
Award letters have been sent out and I am scared of my work phone.
For the past week there has been a pigeon wing outside of my office. No sign of blood or remainder of the bird. Concerning.
We are busy please don't perceive us until the fall term.
Today we had a person call in stating they had bird flu. Currently unsure how that relates to financial aid. Now Jim with the weather.
Student: *comes to office * I need an advancement for my refund.
Current time: 4:58
Time we close 5
Other office they would give them the money: closed at 4:30

The office has been quiet this week. I don't trust it.
File your fuckin FAFSA
The office is quiet today....too quiet. I don't trust it.
Caller: I'm calling about my email that I sent 3 seconds ago. It hasn't even appeared in your inbox yet. WHY HAVE YOU NOT RESPONDED I WILL GO TO THE PRESIDENTS OFFICE AND REPORT YOU.
student employee: wut ....

Office: we have literally no idea ... 😬
Student: *emails in* I want money
Me: here are your loan options
Student: /FREE/ M O N E Y
Me: No 😇✨
This blog will focus on colleges in the USA and Federal Aid programs, and the things students say. Let me tell you some of you college kids are out of pocket and it's funny.
