“Officer Miller.“ There was a happy, almost excited tune in the android’s voice as he approached the shorter man, a soft smile on his features. The Cyberlife-issued jacket he had been exclusively wearing in the recent weeks had been replaced by the one a uniformed officer of the DPD would use - clearly a spare one, as its sleeves were way too short for the android’s arms, while it also, somehow, managed to appear too big for him, especially around the shoulders.
Compared to the neat Cyberlife uniform most of his coworkers were used to seeing Connor in, now the android looked almost comical. He did not seem to mind too much.
“I have been assigned as your partner for today’s routine patrol,” he explained, the excitement barely showing on his features, but clearly present in his demeanor.
And, frankly, excited he was - after a couple of preliminary tests, Connor had been allowed to return to the DPD, as a free android, currently bearing the status of an officer - he might have been manufactured to assist the police force in their investigations, but there still was a lot for him to learn if he planned to remain in this line of work.
At least, he was glad he ended up with a knowledgable, patient teacher - at least for today.
@lifespared // starter call;;
It wasn’t intentional, but he laughs when he first sees Connor in a coat that didn’t make it down his arms, puffed around the top, and made him look like a giant in comparison. ❛ Hey Connor, uniform not in yet? ❜ clearly, but he’d still poke fun at the newest edition of the team now that he could... hopefully lighten the air on how he was before everything. At least he wasn’t as bad as Gavin.
❛ Yeah, I’d appreciate that. ❜ Connor was obviously a great cop, complimented Hank well -- and Chris would be lying if he said he wasn’t excited for the opportunity to potentially see the guy in action, too. ❛ --- and, uh, about before; sorry ‘bout any grief Gavin and I gave you. ❜
soulstied.
He wasn’t actually doing much but standing here, Allen figured Detective Williams liked having someone around to bounce ideas off of. It was proven that when he spoke things out loud he often solved them himself. Which was interesting and Allen wondered if it was a common thing among humans, the need to talk out loud. But then was it also Connor for humans to refer to things that were human like as it? Everyone seemed to call Androids it.
John wasn’t happy, Allen could see it on his face. ❝ Really Chris? You’ve been spendin’ to much time around Hank and the rookie Gavin. ❞ John rolled his eyes and Allen watched him closely. ❝ Let’s try that again. Chris this is Allen. He is an Officer. ❞ An Android Officer yes, but Allen wasn’t going to correct the man. ❝ Now why don’t you try again. ❞
It wasn’t that Chris had anything against androids, they actually made his job a hell of a lot easier and he was thankful for the fact that the mundane tasks he’d otherwise be left to was now lifted from his at time seemingly overwhelming amount of tasks.
He still looked -- confused when John directs his attention back to the PC200, and Chris looks between the two of them again. ❛ .. uh, ok. ❜ he turns himself to -- Allen was it? --- and offers it his hand, giving it an.. admittedly awkward smile. Playing house for John’s sake felt strange, kind of funny, but he tries to take it seriously. ❛ Hi, Allen. My name’s Chris. It’s nice to meet you. ❜ he doesn’t give Allen time to respond before dropping his hand and looking back at John. ❛ you need any company while working on your case, man? I’m taking a bit of a break from mine so once I’m back at it hopefully I can look at it from a different angle. ❜
soulstied.
❝ Alright Allen, why would the criminal murder someone and then suddenly decide to grab a coffee during his escape? ❞
Allen blinked, head tilting slightly as his LED blinked YELLOW. It processed the question, spun back to blue and then frowned at the man. ❝ I don’t–know Detective Williams. It’s not in my programming to solve crime scenes, simply guard them for you. ❞ He was a pacifist observational unit that could help ease the pain of victims by talking to them. He wasn’t permitted to interrogate criminals or work crime scenes. He could arrest criminals when observed by a true Police officer when doing it. But he was not a Police Officer and most certainly not a Detective.
John did not care. Something he learned quick when assigned to the man.
❝ That’s not a very productive and useful reply. ❞ The man laced his fingers together, red hair brushed from his face as he looked up at Allen. ❝ You’re supposed to be helping me right? Oh look, there’s Chris. Hey Chris, what are you up to on this fine Saturday night? Working a case too? Ah, this is Allen one of the PC200′s. ❞
Allen politely inclined his head and nodded toward the other. ❝ Good evening Detective Miller. It’s a pleasure to meet you. ❞
Chris was, well -- exhausted. When John had mentioned his name he almost hadn’t caught it, looking back over to him and giving a nod at what was said. ❛ Yeah. My girl’s got an appointment Monday to determine the sex of our baby. Trying to finish up what I can today so by Monday I’ll be in the clear to be there with her. ❜ if she showed, that is.
His attention turn to Allen after he speaks, eyes wandering over him for a moment before looking back to John. ❛ --- is it broken? or is it helping you work over the case you’re on? ❜

@baddcop: ❛ trust me, i’m not going to get caught. ❜ || meme.
There’s a disbelieving look that’s soon to follow Gavin’s statement that he wasn’t going to get caught -- that Chris just had to trust him that things would turn out fine. Normally he wouldn’t have a problem doing that --- but in this case, he’s pretty sure what Gavin was trying to do was illegal.
❛ Hey, man, I trust you with my life, but if you get caught ---- I won’t cover your ass for this. I really need this job. ❜
❛ hold up, you’re working with gavin? ❜ not that chris had anything against the detective, they got along well -- though he doubts that the same could be said for the RK900. ❛ ... how’s that working out for you so far? ❜ || @loverslanetm liked.

It seemed improbable to Chris that he’d meet Markus not only once, but apparently now twice in his lifetime. The first time -- didn’t go so great. He’d killed Markus’ people, shot them down as they ran for their life. It didn’t take long for him to realize he was out numbered, when the other androids fought against him - it didn’t take long for them to bring him and the other newbie partner that tagged along him to their knees. They turned to Markus on what to do after holding them to gun point with their own service weapons, and, for whatever reason, Markus still decided to spare him -- let him flee with his partner back to the station.
Now they were investigating a string of murders in which the only connection with the victims were that they all residence of New Jericho. Though Markus was their --- leader? President? He wasn’t sure what to refer to him as, Chris still didn’t expect to see him again face to face. The feeling that he shouldn’t be here came quickly, as did the nausea and sweaty palms. No one else had approached Markus yet, they seemed to still be occupied with other suspects or witnesses, but it still takes a lot for Chris to step aside from the rest of his platoon in favor of approaching Markus - and he only does so when he’s confident he won’t get sick in front of him.
❛ ... Hello, Sir. My name is Chris Miller, an officer with the Detroit Police Department. We’ve --- met before. You may not remember me.. ❜ did all androids have a perfect memory like Connor did? ❛ .. you probably do. I um.. I haven’t been asked to, but I wanted to apologize for how we -- how I handled the situation back in Capitol Park. We’re going to try to do better for your people now. ❜ || @jericholeader liked.
❛ ... does it hurt? ❜ he knows androids can’t technically feel pain, he’s heard it before -- but it still looked like the injury that seven had sustain... they had to feel something from that. ❛ – your arm. ❜ || @maccaillte liked.
❛ you still here from last night? ❜ he’d signed on for an early morning, hoping to finish up a bit of the work that he hadn’t been able to complete last night before the start of his next shift -- though he didn’t expect to find Gavin still at his desk. And, honestly, he looked exhausted. ❛ I know you hate hearing this, but you should go home. Get a few hours of sleep before your next shift, man. ❜ || @dettroit liked.
sgaradh.
❛ it’s good to see you again, too, chris. ❜ the short break he took from the police department wasn’t entirely up to himself, considering it would have likely been quite difficult to after the evidence room break-in. thankfully, it seemed to be cleared up… odd and mysterious as the circumstances may be to connor. ❛ i didn’t necessarily do much, but thank you, i suppose. how have things been here in my absence ? ❜
Technically, Connor had done a hell of a lot more than Chris ever did. Though instead of fighting back against the androids like some of the officers had -- not that it was in most of their jurisdiction, some were just --- eager to over-perform, if you could call it that. Chris had managed to stay in the office and watched everything unfold through the television in the break room. Not very heroic, but he did what he could in the aftermath of the battle.
❛ Things have been busy. A lot more murder cases coming through now that you all have rights. ❜ -- a pause is given before he reviewed what he said. ❛ which is great, I think. ❜ another pause. ❛ the rights thing, not the, uh -- ❜ it probably wasn’t something that had to be clarified, now that he thinks back about it -- Connor likely could assume what it was that he meant. ❛ Hank is probably glad you’re back. You two work well together, you’re a huge help around here. I mean that. ❜
Admittidly, Chris had come close to mistakenly calling for Connor when he first saw the other RK800 - though the bot had a different disposition, and he didn’t seem to recognize Chris... ❛ damn, I didn’t know they had other models like Connor running around... You working with the DPD? ❜ || @ruthlessnessisyourdesire liked.
