The entire story of Devil May Cry (Netflix series) could probably have been solved if everybody was restrained and they talked it out. Given the harsh environment they're used to, the dangerous Makaians could be able to inhabit the harsher areas of the world and those who thrive in Makai can stay there, and the less dangerous ones could co-exist with humans in the safer areas. We could have found ways for them to be safe and incorporate them into our society. I'm not saying either side was wrong or right â I am saying that there was no conflict in there that couldn't have been solved by a calm discussion and negotiation. I think everybody needs therapy.
Except the Vice President. He might be to a point where he's irredeemable, considering he saw all of those Makaian refugee families and still had them killed. They looked human, they acted human, they seemed human. To me, they were human. No different than somebody of one nationality to another. They were not dangerous. They were not cruel. The Vice President does not seem to be human.
(I am only at episode i of the first season, bear with me.)
Watching season two. This is still true.

"You want the job or not?"
"How's the pay?"
"Not great. But, the hours are worse."
Literally from the FNaF1 movie. The economy is in shambles even then.

i hate diet culture so much. i hate how everyone steamrolls over my "i don't like talking about dieting." i hate seeing vibrant, beautiful personalities turn into someone who only talks about their weight loss. i hate when people brag abt how little they've eaten. i hate being expected to fawn over ppl for being on a crash diet. i hate when women go "hahah, i just don't really eat!" i hate when ppl use coffee or cigarettes to suppress their appetite and think that's healthy. i hate when i see the pain in my friend's eyes because someone around them lost weight and they feel Too Fat by comparison. i hate when people assume I'm unhealthy because im fat. i hate that this is something i've had to deal with since i was 7. i hate when fat people, stranded in a culture that villifies every aspect of their being, are asked to clap and cheer for thinness.
âyouâre so quietâ yeah i donât make sense when i talk.

But, to me, "God" is Still an Octopus named Sheryl.
And she is neither good nor evil.
She is simply Sheryl. And she is an Octopus.
She supports minding your own business unless it actually directly hurts you, and eating whenever you need to and whatever you need to.
She supports eating the rich, they're tasty because they're so well-fed and taken care of.
She supports taking care of yourself, physically and mentally.
She supports reproductive rights and the choice of the owner of the body, because your body only belongs to yourself, and if you choose to share it, you still have the ultimate say.
She supports YOU and what YOU need to survive.
She supports doing what exercise you can.
She does NOT support Universe 25 as a baseline, because She believes that you must have enrichment to survive.
She supports getting support where you need it.
And She supports you doing whatever you can to get the help you need or want.
She does NOT support the current economical system, because it is littering Her oceans and hurting Her fish.
She supports You doing what You need to survive.
And most of all, She is a Concept. She is a thought process.
She is thinking "Would an octopus care?" And if the octopus would not care, you do not care.
Of course, there are flaws to Sherylism. But every sort of ideology has flaws. Sherylism is embracing these inherent flaws and taking this as a Framework, not as a rulebook. It is using the tools you have to get the resources you need. A "God" should not be something that punishes you for doing something wrong. A "God" rewards you for doing something right. A "God" lets YOU choose what you prioritize.
But this is Not a cult, or really even a religion, other than me calling Sheryl a "God". This is just a set of beliefs influenced by the life of a young, disabled, queer, lower-middle class person in late-stage capitalist America.
Sheryl's land companion is a large spider named Chester, because I said so. Everybody deserves a friend, even if they are inherently so different from you in terms of upbringing and ability that you cannot imagine life from their point of view.
I also just really think that Octopi and Spiders are neat.
I don't like people. I think it's pretty clear just from how I talk. But I also love people. I love their creativity. I love their intelligence. I love their art, their ways of thought, and the fascinating things they can come up with.
I will forever respect Animorphs for tricking kids who are just really into animals to read a book series by going âHey you, you daydream about what itâs like to be a dolphin or a bird or a wolf? Have I got a book for you!â and then slowly radicalizing them with 50+ books of âThere are no winners in war. Whatever âvictoryâ you perceive comes at the cost of sacrificing your own morals and killing the part of you that is human. In the end you will resort to murder, torture and war crimes and the knowledge of what you have done will haunt you for as long as you live.â
Why Animorphs is Frighteningly Relevant in Contemporary Trumpian AmericaÂ
We are not in the business of policing each other. EVERYWHERE.
It is our human purpose to help each other.
If you see someone steal food, hop on a bus for free or jump a turnstile...
no you didn't.
We exist, we are supposedly free to do so within the confines of the system. When those confines make it too hard to exist, we Work Around Them. Everyone always has that right.
We are not in the
business of policing each
other. EVERYWHERE.

I am not usually one to advocate for people to change much of their behaviors, but I think that Americans, as a society, need to learn to be a little quieter and a bit more respectful of other people.
Being at an aquarium on Wednesday at 1 PM, even during the summer, it should not be so loud. I should not have to put on my Mom's Loops, and my own headphones, in order to block enough sound to get a little less overwhelmed because of all the children. And I shouldn't have to ESPECIALLY do this because of the ADULTS, who should know better than to be loud.
There should be specific times when people can have children under the age of 8 at a museum/aquarium, because aquariums also appeal heavily to neurodivergent people, and if there are sensory bags there, we should also have times when it's safe to be at the aquarium without the fear of being overwhelmed. Plus, it's crowded with little kids, and I have never met another neurodivergent person who does not HATE crowds.
