But then I got in trouble when my older brother and my mother finally went to see what I was doing.
I never blamed content creators or fandom spaces or even the website I was on for what I found– even as a kid, I blamed myself for getting caught.
It’s not complete strangers jobs to raise and supervise someone else’s kids. It’s the job of the parent, guardian, or trust adult to supervise a KID when they are online– because overall, the internet is not a safe place for anyone.
It’s not my fault kids and teenagers lie to get onto websites that are obviously not for them, or ignore blatant fucking warnings and tags.
Yeah shipping characters that are easily relatable to kids with adults is totally fine cuz it totally won’t make kids think a relationship with an adult is ok. Having characters that pretty much look and act like children in relationships with adults is totally ok cuz “they’re actually 100 years old”.
Easily relatable to kids? Dude that’s your interpretation and relatability, not mine or others– as in, it’s not the majority consensus. Zim is an alien, an alien which we don’t even know his real age– or how old his race can get. You’re literally throwing a hissy fit over people shipping a cartoon alien with another cartoon character.
If you’re learning what is and isn’t okay in real life from cartoons, then that’s on you and your family/parents, not on us.
By your logic, you’re placing the blame for an incident of a child jumping off the roof in the 90′s on Wile E. Coyote. I’ve become increasingly tired of seeing the argument that “FICTION IS REALITY!”, and I think it’s time to stomp some sense into it. It was bullshit when they tried to use the same argument against video games in the 90′s, it was bullshit when they tried to use it against horror movies and heavy metal musicin the 80′s, and it’s bullshit now.
Being inspired by something does not equate to causation. “Slippery Slope” is a logical fallacy that has been used for years (usually by conservatives and overzealous religious fanatics) to blame certain behaviors on the media a person consumes.
Fandom does not exist in a vacuum like you and so many other idiots seem to think. It is very easy for children to find the things you create and just an “18+ only” disclaimer is not enough.

If it’s easy for children to find things 18+, or to lie to get onto 18+ websites, then that’s the fault of the internet if anything– and the parents.
If fiction is the only source you’re learning about life from, you have been failed fundamentally as a child by the people who were supposed to guide you.
Stop shifting blame,and accept where the fault really lies: With PARENTS
The internet is barely safe for adults– so in fact, it’s not even suitable for children, especially unsupervised children.
There isn’t anything else to do except what we have been doing– warnings, tags, age restrictions, etc… and the rest is up to the parent! Not us!
Also just because the creator did not say it was aimed ar children and adults happen to enjoy it, that does not mean it needs to be full of adult stuff or that it is aimed at adults.
If you don’t like it, then you create your own shit, you write your own shit, you produce the fandom content.
Maybe instead of complaining and being an overall nuisance and entitled prick, maybe DO SOMETHING and create your own shit.
Adults can enjoy media aimed at children without it also having “adult” humor.
