THE LIGHT OF THE MOON.
The youngest of the brood of powerful would-be rulers of Dawn court, Aylin had grown up showered with love from her parents and older siblings, wanting for nothing in this life but to have a destiny of her own. While the ruler's crown was never supposed to land on her head, anyway, she did not bother herself with learning the proper, regal etiquette. Instead, she spoke her mind brazenly and without much consideration for the others. A bit untamed and willful, she never feared learning the consequences to her words.
she would come to regret it.
A loud argument with her parents ended in tears, when their lives were forfeit the same evening. The child born at night had, for the first time in her life, discovered the darkness of grief and tragedy. When her sister ascended the throne, Aylin checked her own attitude, swearing loyalty and picking up the position of an emissary. Naturally charming and lovable, she fell into the role pretty quickly and easily, and never regretted taking up on a more serious task within the inner circle.
still, the recent events turned her light into darkness once more.
Being thrown into a new court would have been the most enjoyable adventure of a lifetime, if only it had not been preceded by so much horror. Now, she sticks to her sister and to her court like a phantom limb, casting inquisitive glare wherever she can - she does not trust a single thing her eyes see - not the shadows of the darkness, nor the transparency of the light.
so often, the deadliest of monsters are hidden in plain sight.
in broad daylight.
