It had been quite some time since he’d thought about about Padmé Amidala, let along laid eyes on her. Perhaps he should have expected this once he set foot on Naboo. Perhaps it was foolish of him to be planet-side and expect to avoid reminders of a past life.
For a moment, his mouth hung open as he peered down at her through his mask. He hadn’t seen her since he was a child, he reminded himself, it was safe to assume he could leave this planet unrecognized. Still, he found himself at a loss of words for the first time in a long while. He found it difficult to harbor the same hatred for her that he carried for his parents and uncle. As a result, there was no malice, no subterfuge― nothing of the sort.
He simply stared in silence, hoping it would be enough to make her keep her distance.
