i hate this i hate it here
i used to hate living in georgia until i realized i’m literally on our ancestral land. my town was stolen from the cherokee. every day i’m reminded of it and while i struggle being the only tsalagi person here, the land is so beautiful i’m grateful for the opportunity i live here.
okay so i’m not an artist... at all. i haven’t drawn since my freshman year of high school. buuuuut i just got procreate and i was playing around with it so i did a drawing of piper (i was the face rec bc im conceited lol). the hair was supposed to be darker but i think i did decent ?? for a first try.
[image description: a digital drawing of piper from the shoulders up. she is indigenous with light brown skin, very dark brown eyes, and straight long dark hair. her chin is tilted up and she has a neutral expression, she is wearing an orange shirt.]
i am going to Jump Off A Bridge
reyna as a puerto rican independence activist who hate tweets about colonialism every day

DISCLAIMER: i do not represent all indigenous people or all tsalagi people!!
i am reconnecting. i am adopted (which is a whole other bucket of trauma!!) and so were others in my family which is why atm i am not enrolled. i’m learning and unlearning a whole bunch of stuff right now as i’ve been doing for the past few years and it’s hard but it’s worth it.
i won’t get into my whole story because it’s personal and painful for me but if you have questions/doubts/whatever you can message me and i’d be happy to answer to a certain extent. in the meantime i suggest you follow other indigenous people because they have amazing stories to tell and deserve all the love.

im gonna say it, and if youre white you do not get to comment, but in regards to that j-siper pocahontas au and the people in the comments of that post calling op out for whitewashing piper, i feel like we are focusing on the wrong thing here. just a little bit. the au itself is fucking abhorrent because it puts piper in the position of a girl, pocahontas, who was barely a teenager when she was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, married to a man against her will, and in the end, she died extremely young, and very far away from her home and family. disney took that story and romanticized the fuck out of it, to the point where it is unrecognizable. this movie perpetuates violence against native women. stop fucking making pocahontas j-siper aus.
trying to learn my language is just a big ol joke because i have maybe one brain cell at a time that works
piper is so artistic.
she paints. her jeans are stained with acrylics and oils and some of it’s crusted under her fingernails. jason used to be the subject of her art, but since his death, she’s taken to drawing the sky when it storms.
she sings. mostly her own songs, but sometimes annabeth catches her whispering softly to hozier or willow. she can weave charmspeak into the melodies without even trying, bringing each lyric to life.
she acts. her charmspeak, ever useful, allows her to convince the audience of her character with each line spoken. her favorite show is radium girls—she played the determined but struggling lead in a middle school production of it and reduced her teacher to tears.
she writes. her poems revolve around her ᏣᎳᎽ culture, and her desperate attempt to reconnect. from the yunwi tsunsdi hiding in the eastern forests to the kali nvda svnoyi ehi that hangs over her cabin, she describes nature and its inhabitants in striking detail.
piper is so artistic, even if she rarely lets anyone see that.
