Lately I've been a pretty awful person. I've gotten wrapped up in secrets and lies and manipulation and its eating at me. I need to figure out how to come clean and apologize and earn forgiveness and hopefully put this behind me. I'm so overwhelmingly sorry.

Surprise!

This summer has been full of one unexpected surprise after another.

I ended a relationship that lasted the better part of 5 years. My parents moved from Rhode Island, where I knew no one, to Westchester, where I also know no one. I found myself living at our summer house on Long Island pretty much by myself. I also realized, with my boyfriend out of the picture, that being physically distant from my HS town meant that I couldn't see my friends that often, and I had fallen out of touch with almost all of my friends from elementary school that I knew at my summer house. I was anxious and isolated, until I ran into a group of guys who were also out for the summer that I was friends with when I was 9-12 years old (including my first crush). They invited me to hang out, introduced me to their other friends, and before I knew it I had a solid and fun friend group. The summer went from bleak and lonely to one adventure after another. We had bonfires on the beach, went night swimming, and biked around the tiny town at 4AM. I hooked up with my old crush (and realized he was not at all my type), and developed new and meaningful friendships with a great group of people.

I had the unique experience of joining a longstanding friend group, and learning a lot about love, friendship, and myself in the process. It was enlightening, exciting, and always entertaining, and as eager as I am to go back to school, I really am going to miss these people.

it doesn’t happen all at once it happens slowly like a flood water rising cautiously a quiet rebellion spilling over enemy lines with a vengeance minute by minute, you feel it the gravitational pull on your body moving you further and further apart your mother says that you will find your way back to him, but you are not so sure it does not happen all at once it happens like the continents drifting apart a few centimeters per year it happens so slowly you can’t even see it until it is too late until the love waltzing in the ball room of your chest goes quiet and everyone stops dancing he grabs your hand and asks you to go someplace quiet you don’t go with him you stay silent your heart is a still drum he takes your pulse with his teeth tells you he doesn’t understand how you could change your mind so suddenly it doesn’t happen all at once remember that, even when he tries to convince you that things were fine the day before tell him that the earth is moving microscopic distances as you speak that neither of you are in the same place that you were yesterday
