One of the wonderful things about Light Work’s Fine Print Program is the affordability our limited-edition prints by artists. This has allowed for photography lovers of all kinds, from around the globe, to begin or grow their collections and support a good cause at the same time.
Many serious collectors and institutions are regular subscribers to Contact Sheet, by way of our Fine Print Program, and have discovered new artists in the process. We love having the opportunity to visit our collectors in person and to see Light Work prints in their amazing collections. Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting Dr. Kenneth Montague in Toronto, who has been a longtime advocate for the organization.

Light Work is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2018 Light Work Grants in Photography: Nydia Blas, Michelle Gabel, and Jerry Lim!
The Light Work Grants program is a part of our ongoing effort to provide support and encouragement to Central New York artists working in photography. Established in 1975, it is one of the longest-running photography fellowship programs in the country. Each recipient receives a $3,000 award, participates in the opening fall season exhibition, and appears in Contact Sheet: The Light Work Annual.
Special thanks to this year's judges: Kris Graves (publisher, photographer, writer), Qiana Mestrich (photographer, writer, founder of Dodge and Burn), and Allyson Torrisi (Director of Photography, Popular Mechanics).

The 2017 Light Work Grants in Photography is officially open for applications! The deadline is April 1, 2017, but why wait? Begin your application today! Your application will be reviewed by three respected jurors who are experts in the field of photography, and three artists will each receive $3,000 to support their work!
All applicants must reside in of one of the following Central New York counties: Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, St. Lawrence, Tioga or Tompkins.

Labor Day weekend our friend and colleague Victor Rivera was the victim of a hit and run accident while crossing the street in New York City. He is currently in the hospital with a severely broken hip and arm, and faces a long recovery. He will remain in the hospital for another two weeks, and will be unable to travel back to Syracuse for months while he completes his physical therapy and undergoes additional surgeries. Victor will be unable to return to work until the spring of 2017, and needs our help! This avenue was chosen in hopes that anyone who would like to donate to his fight for full recovery has the opportunity to do so. All funds raised will go directly to his medical expenses. Every little bit helps - lets show Victor how much he means to us and that he is not alone in this difficult time!

Every year Light Work invites between twelve and fifteen artists to come to Syracuse to devote one month to creative projects. Over 400 artists have participated in Light Work’s Artist-in-Residence Program, and many of them have gone on to achieve international acclaim.
The residency includes a $5,000 stipend, a furnished artist apartment, 24-hour access to our state-of-the-art facilities, and generous staff support. Work by each Artist-in-Residence is published in a special edition ofContact Sheet: The Light Work Annual along with an essay commissioned by Light Work. Work by former Artists-in-Residence is also part of the Light Work Collection.
