Random question, but one that I always ask when interests collide: VTMB 1&2 Dragon Age AU? Who would those characters be in the DA universe? Alternatively, Dragon Age characters, which clans would they be?

I had a lot of fun thinking about this, so thanks for the idea! Full answer to the AUs below.
I feel like LaCroix is empress Celene, the one currently in charge but about to be usurped by rebels; royal and keen on politics. Racial purist by culture if not by heart, the need to control and entitlement to power leads to further disaster.
The Sheriff is Briala, a chess piece to be moved by the empress/prince, perhaps a romantic interest thrown away when optically inconvenient. Either way, they were a means to an end, one that may have not yet come.
Nines is The Iron Bull. Very passionate about his people, but analytical and still a critical thinker. Willing to rock the boat if he believes it's for the best. Hiding his true intent through gruffness. Perhaps the revolutionary to change everything, should what he cares about most be threatened.
Damsel is Cassandra, righteous and loud about her cause. But this bullheadedness is also a blindness, a lack of nuance that may cause more hurt later. She must either commit to reforming the movement, or start a new one from scratch.
Andrei would probably be Corypheous, obsessed with creation and the unmaking of those who opposed him. Raising armies of creatures in a mockery of godhood to cement his power among mortals.
Ash is Alistar, easy. Forced into a role of importance they never wanted, and probably never earned. They have to overcome self doubt to realize they aren't just being handed things, they have value and are capable people. They have to learn to care again.
Strauss is Leliana. Calculating, but still has a stake in the proceedings. Efficient and to the point, they execute their plans with zero failure, but still have the intentions of the people at heart. Though ruthless, they believe it to be for a good cause.
Mercurio is Varric. Resourceful, tale spinner, quick to get in and out of a situation while being on top financially. They are smooth talking con men, ones you want on your side.
I could keep going bout VTMB 1 so let's move on to 2!
Safia fits best as Solas imo. The main theme of betrayal, loyalty, sense of responsibility, lack of empathy for current situation, creation & destruction; they align so well. Safia is desperate to bring back her past lover and bring revenge of those who murdered him; Solas desires to bring back the merged spirit & mortal world while bringing revenge on the Evanuris who opposed him. How far are you willing to go to restore what you once knew?
Fabien is Harding. Loyal and passionate from the start, they are keen investigators and more than willing to get their hands dirty. They care about doing what's right, not what's 'proper'. There are many corners of their own mind left to explore though, and they may not like what they see...
Tolly is Anders, easy. Stuck in a shitty situation and making the most of it, passionate about his beliefs. He is willing to compromise for the sake of peace, but will let you know his real thoughts the entire time. Rebel at heart, but survivalist first and foremost.
The Nomad is best as the Inquisitor. Marked, potentially a great backstory already, stumbled into this role by others hands. They lead through this unusual circumstance, allying groups that may not have originally worked together. They create a nation from the ground up, through the people and the influence they've had on communities. They are the head of the force, but it's the will of those that follow them that create results.
There's many more characters I could go through, but I've exhausted brain atm. I may come back to this to expand upon it or change my answers, it's certainly a fun thought experiment! 😁
