an old sketch comic from patreon about how to start putting your thoughts and feelings into words. i have a deep enjoyment for trying to figure out useful step-by-step processes for self-therapy and emotional “processing.” even though i’ve been learning that there are benefits to having a controlled time frame for unpacking trauma and not addressing it outside of that, i felt like therapy could sometimes fail to teach skills in a way that gave me power to address my problems and feelings unattached from the therapist. in the end, the chance that you will deal with a crisis specifically in said controlled environment is very slim, so giving skills to deal with every day problems is important to me, even if they won’t be the perfect fit for everybody.

If you’re really a “mental health advocate”, you’ll have to acknowledge people who lack empathy, people who can’t physically care about other people, people who are narcissistic and/or self serving, people who have homicidal thoughts, people who are extreme attention seekers, people who have unstable and erratic emotions, etc etc…
Mental health advocacy doesn’t stop at disorders you “just don’t like”.
