CHRIS HALLIWELL - 22, he/him, aware, bartender & record store, bisexual/shipping semi closed
five's attention was on his phone in his hand as he maneuvered around some people on the sidewalk. he'd always been somewhat into technology, though had never been that huge on cell phones until arriving in dc. needless to say, with the invention at his grasp and a fast reflex, he never worried as he walked. his head only snapped up as he felt someone approaching, the other's inquiries well enough to catch his full interest. " uh, well, you're in washington dc. in 2024. " he paused shortly, eyeing the other curiously. " what year are you supposed to be in? "
chris paid little attention to the odd look the other was giving, more preoccupied with surveying the look of the street around them. at the sound of the year, chris turned his head to face him again, schooling his face so most of his muddled panic didn't show on his face. the world looked so normal, but the 2024 that chris had lived through had been chaotic and dangerous.
"the year i'm supposed to be in? honestly? complicated." he looked the man up and down once, wondering at his odd acceptance of implied time travel. "what year are you supposed to be in?"
Caden felt herself tense up even before she physically laid eyes on the man. It was as if her body had anticipated something, and then there he was. Just some random dude making his way out of an alley and waving her down. She wanted to be reassured by the fact that it was broad daylight, with plenty of foot traffic on the sidewalk around them, but this city left room for very little reassurances.
What he went on to actually say, though, did marginally allay some of her concern. He was likely a new arrival to this place, and probably out of sorts. "Yeah...it's actually not as crazy as you might think," she began. "And depending on where you're from, the answer might actually seem crazier. This is supposed to be Washington, D.C. and it's currently 2024 here."
if he cared for anything more than himself at the moment, chris might've noticed the way the stranger's body stiffened on his approach. presently, however, his spontaneous teleportation was taking up too much space in his brain to be perceptive.
the first part of her answer was a bit reassuring. he was so used to quips from his aunts about how neurotic he sounded. still, to know he didn't sound as crazy as he felt wasn't enough to keep his skepticism at bay. "supposed to be?" he asked, brows furrowing. "what, like it's a fake washington d.c.?" again, his brain was flipping through what he knew about time travel and other dimensions as he glanced around. "how's that work?"

chris, though still suspicious of pretty much everything that he encountered in this city, was trying to let himself settle. but then the universe kept tossing him in front of family when he tried to do something simple like sit down in a coffee shop. it threw his brain into somersaults; some tumultuous mix of grappling with a reversal of his losses and letting himself be happy at a reunion.
"kat?" he said, an almost hesitant guess. she was certainly older than he'd ever seen her, but he could reach out enough to sense her, and confirm what his brain was denying. "god, this is- you know me right?"

at the stranger's wave , beca assumes that he's trying to grab her attention , so she stops & pulls out an airpod to hear what he has to say. " surprisingly not the craziest question i've heard , " she claims. it's not an unexpected question given that she'd confusingly arrived herself not even a year ago. it doesn't seem like an uncommon occurrence around here either. however , she is a little shocked to see him taking the sudden change of scenery so well. " it's 2024 & this is washington dc. i take it you're new around here ? "
"2024 you said? jesus." cool. more time travel. chris wondered if all the jumping back and forth would have some weird adverse affect on his body if it kept happening. "if being basically dropped on my ass in this place about-" he paused to glance at the watch on his wrist "five minutes ago counts as being new around here." he glanced up and down the sidewalk once then back at the girl, realizing that she was taking his questions in stride. he didn't expect that. "does stuff like that...happen a lot here?" now his mind was moving a mile a minute, recalling anything to could be a possibility - simple time travel and teleportation, pocket universes, dream worlds.
Piper had been lost in her thoughts as she walked from the manor to P3. The witch had been able to have some time without demon hunting for a change. Hearing her son's voice, Piper lifted her head. "Chris?" The mother asked as she came over to her youngest son and glanced for any injuries.
Piper's voice pulled Chris's attention from the stranger he had stopped. His shoulders fell, relief washing over him for just a moment. "Mom?" he said, voice soft as he took a step to meet her. It had maybe been a few hours since he'd seen her, but the shock of his unexplained transport made him feel like he was seeing her for the first time in ages. While his mother's eyes scanned him, Chris did the same to her, eyes pausing on her abdomen. "You're not pregnant," he said, brows furrowing. The relief of seeing Piper shifted slightly back towards panic and confusion. He glanced around the unfamiliar street again, trying to figure out what could have possibly gone wrong to end up in a unfamiliar place with a different Piper. "What the hell did I do?"

it's disorienting to be brewing a potion in your mother's kitchen one minute and standing in a random alley the next - though not entirely unusual for a halliwell. still, stepping into the sun on the street of a city that was definitely not san francisco had chris scratching his head and panicking a perfectly reasonable amount.
he stopped the first normal looking stranger passing by on the sidewalk with a wave and quick apology. "crazy question. i'm acknowledging that, which hopefully makes it a little less crazy sounding." he paused, but not long enough for any sort of reassurance from the stranger. "could you tell me where i am? and what year it is?"

Was that CHARLIE ROWE? Oh no no, that was just CHRIS HALLIWELL, a CANON CHARACTER from CHARMED. They are TWENTY-TWO years old and ARE aware that they are not actually from Washington DC. Too bad they canât stray from this city for long.Â
"I'm not in a rush, no," Luna smiles. She is half tempted to use magic, to help the other win something, but she wants to see how this plays out first. Besides, the other must be a muggle, and she technically wasn't supposed to use magic in front of muggles. "You've got this, try again! I'm rooting you on."
beth brightened at the other's encouragement. "i appreciate your support," she laughed. she turned around, with new found confidence, and inserted another coin into the slot. as beth fiddled with the joystick of the machine she spoke loud enough so the other would hear her. "i'm hoping i can grab that little little blue monster for my nephew, but i keep managing to get it in a more difficult position, i think." she quieted again to concentrate and adjusted the claw a few times before hitting the button to grab. she crossed her fingers as it dropped, but the claw simply slipped over the plush before returning to the start. beth groaned and then lookd apologetically at the girl again. "are you a claw machine whisperer or somethin'? maybe you have better luck than me."
piper was listening, at least trying to listen. though when he said that that they didn't defeat the big evil power. "excuse me-" she held a hand up for a moment to just pause and think about what he'd said. "you said we didn't defeat the big evil power? what happened then?" of course kept glossing over some of the facts that she felt needed more explanation. but she would just pry what she had to out of him. "yes, it is very important we have the charmed ones here. i've already met enough evil here that needs to be vanquished."
"like- what happened in the future, or...? death, destruction, witches living in fear. that was what i was trying to stop by going back in time. but before i was sure i stopped that future, i showed up...wherever we are now. pj keeps telling me it doesn't really matter - since so many of us are here now, but i dunno...." he shrugged. even with his mother standing in front him, he couldn't help but think about the piper he'd left, just when he was letting himself get close to her. this felt so much like starting over, and he was tired and scared.
"evil?" he asked. "i guess." he and pj had conversations about demons, or the lack of them in this city. still, he thought of that night last halloween that he'd just escaped. "i've never seen any demons here. what have you seen?"
Carl gave the other a soft smile and nodded. "You are teaching music, huh? That makes sense. You always loved to sing, honestly, so I could see you wanting to sing and work with children. You were really good with Judith when she was a baby." Carl admitted with a nod. "I've completed the first four years, and i started my residency at the local hospital, i want to become a doctor." carl smiled.
"Yeah, I did meet her but I don't think she knows who I am and I don't think she remembers much about our life before here." Carl admitted. "I am really hoping that she could at least remember us...but maybe her not remembering everything could be a good thing for her."
beth thought her eyes might pop right out of her head they were so wide. she wasn't sure why it was such a shock to hear that carl was working in a hospital. maybe it was that she was still in the middle of processing he wasn't a kid anymore. "residency?" she said brightly. "carl, that's amazin'! good for you. i don't think i could do it. not here." especially not now that she remembered Grady Memorial. she didn't say it, and she didn't let the thought mar the excitment and pride she felt at carl's words, but she'd been avoiding hospitals since she got her memories back.
the news about judith made beth a bit more certain the girl she had encountered was judith, and it carried a bit of disappointment. beth felt her shoulders slump a bit. "maybe," beth conceded. "i kinda wish she knew us, but that might just be me bein' selfish. she probably... well, she wouldn't really know me either way, right?" beth let her eyes fall to her shoe, which was kicking softly at the floor. "she was still so small when i died." beth paused, then looked back at carl, remembering some of the things maggie told her. "i'm sorry. you know how that feels, don't you?"
She wasn't really sure what to make out of this encounter. She was used to weird things, of course she was. She was one of the chosen one's, the power of three and all that jazz. After a while it almost became an everyday occurrence to run into someone that either knew her or wanted to end her. Tilting her head to the side, Prue hummed. "I have met Piper. Why are you asking?"
"well, it's just that phoebe doesn't really remember who she is," he said, eyes drifting. "if you do run into her, maybe don't lead with the whole sister thing." it was like he could taste the irony. or hear pj's voice nagging about telling the truth in his head. "although pj will probably end up doing telling everyone she's related to at this point."
"really? hm. that's an interesting take." fred had been much more of the history buff, getting in to how the human mind worked? not their strongest suit. "i did, but she still insisted. it was really strange. then she randomly made birds appear. though i guess that is a whole other story for another day."
"is it a story for another day? she made birds appear?" angie said skeptically. "like at magic shows? with the doves? weird. this place is mad. i'm feel like my sanity is constantly being threatened."
@likecometsx | Maggie & Beth.
"Bethy," Maggie smiles, going and hugging her sister. She was so grateful to her sister -- as well as Brimsley and Lydia, for helping take care of Hershel while Maggie didn't have her memories. "I can't thank you enough, ya know? For everythin' you do." She pulls away, cupping her sister's cheek with her palm. "I'm so lucky. Thank you. You're the best sister I could'a possibly asked for."
beth held tight to her sister, tears prickling her eyes. for the first time in a long time, she felt safe in the arms of the maggie who knew her and loved her. "you know i'd do anythin' for you," she said softly. "'i missed you so much. "'sides, i was just doin' what you'd do for me. what you did do for me." she pulled back to look at maggie's face, and laughed with watery eyes as she said. "i missed you so much." there was still some part of beth that wondered if she'd done the right thing, waiting for maggie to remember on her own, hoping little clues would lead her back the same way meeting maggie and hershel had started to bring beth's memories back. "and there's so much more of our family here now. it's makin' me think we might all be together again soon. wouldn't that be amazin'?"

"if i started a fitness instagram account, do you think people would follow me? like positive former college athlete, but not past her prime and not pretentious?" she scrolled through her personal instagram, considering. "i think it'd feel like coaching, but ...less?"

as soon as chris confirms her suspicions, peyton realises that she already had her answer prior to his words, the change in atmosphere enough to give it away. the pain in his voice is an emotion easy to catch up on; too easy, perhaps, a sense of dread coming onto her just from listening to him speak. âiâm sorry,â the female said in apology, suddenly feeling that she should have read the room better and not made light of the situation with her own family. if chrisâ family was truly as scattered as heâd said, it must have only made him feel worse. butâ she had no way of comforting him, either, never having had to go through such hardships. the bond with her family had always been nice, and a place of comfort. who was to say that her advice wouldnât make things worse? âi admittedly donât really know what iâm talking about,â peyton revealed as she put her work down entirely, only to settle down closer to her coworker, âbut family is family, even if you barely know them. if theyâre anything like you, iâm convinced theyâd be happy to have you. and if not⊠well. i donât have any siblings, so iâll have you as my brother instead. only if you donât boss me around.â not any better. âsorry. that wasn't at all helpful-- or, thoughtful, either.â
he shook his head to dismiss her apology. "no worries," he added. he couldn't blame her for defaulting to whatever family this weird place had cooked up for her. she probably had memories of such a normal life, which chris was sometimes a bit envious of. he squited skeptically at peyton for a moment. "anything like me?" he said. "what, grumpy and sarcastic?" he was teasing, mostly. "nah, it's helpful. even if you admittedly don't know what you're talking about." it was helpful, to know that despite her being oblivious to their connection, peyton could offer him some sort of acceptance. he gave her the smallest smile, hoping it'd express some gratitude. "i feel a bit better about it, now. maybe i'll reach out sooner rather than later." if pj didn't beat him to the truth of it all with piper, or peyton, or any of the family without memories of him, he felt a bit more capable of having that conversation. he "just gotta figure out a way to tell someone things like "i'm your son" without giving them a heart attack now. think plain and straightforward is the way to go?"
