"awesome, thank you!" there was a sincere smile on chloe's lips as she gets to work. it takes a minute or so but after a minute she's able to find the new contacts button. she types in her number along with her name before handing the phone back. "you have been super awesome and i hope you know that."
" thanks. " tilly says again. she feels like she made a friend – a new phone contact certainly equals a new friend , right ? – which doesn't happen all too often. if her therapist asks , then she's definitely counting it though. " you too. it's been nice meeting you. i'm glad you came this way. "
partners had worked well for them back home, even if she didn't remember it. at first, he really wasn't convinced by it; wasn't convinced by her at all. he'd hated that soto had even considered bringing a civilian on board, especially one who'd vandalised his crime board, but it had taken him all of about two cases to realise how well they worked together. he liked to think he reigned her in a little, and she helped him to loosen up. he was less of a stickler for the rules now than he had once been, and he was sure that was going to come in handy here. he wasn't exactly sure what the plan would be, but if they were going to look into what was happening in dc, and if they were going to be doing it independently? well, that changed things. "take as long as you need," he assured her. if he was the one without his memories, he knew it would take him far longer than a day to accept this. as a matter of fact, he likely wouldn't want to believe it at all, probably saying there was no way in hell he'd agree to work with someone like her. morgan was skilled in reading people, though, and it seemed she was realising their partnership was real. he didn't hesitate when she asked for his phone, taking it from his pocket and unlocking it without question. he didn't have anything to hide. "i have everyone as their full name," he muttered, in his own defense. "but uh, good idea. i'm guessing you don't have mine anymore."
morgan half expects adam to refuse to hand over his phone at her suggestion , since she knows that she would be a bit leery if it were the other way around , but she reminds herself that he doesn't consider her a stranger. it's going to definitely take some time to get used to that being a probable fact. so she appreciates his assurance that she's able to take all the time that she needs , but still , she's quite likely to contact him within the next 24 hours. " shocker. " as she takes the other's phone from his hands , she wonders if she could get away with changing her name to something mildly ridiculous. " but yeah , unless you're the one in my phone as ' toilet guy ' , then i definitely don't have yours. " she types her first name into the search bar , finding her information easily. she ensures that the number is current before she clicks to edit her notification sound. she wants him to have one that's specific to her – this way , it would stand out among any other calls & texts that he may receive. she's surprised to see a certain song title among the list of options though , not remembering that she's the one that put it there in the first place. " baby got back ? " a startled breath of laughter escapes her , despite everything. she looks up at him with a raised brow. " i can't say that i expected to see that one on your ringtone list. "
" that sounds good, " cheong-san admits. honestly, if they keep talking about food, he fears he's going to get hungry again very soon, but at the same time, he can't seem to stop himself; it's a way to remember his parents. " yeah, it is, but i guess i was a little ... ungrateful. " admitting it hurts, but it's the truth - he foolishly never thought anything would ever happen to his parents - cushy life and caring parents, ripped from him so fast it gave him whiplash. " i regret it now. kinda wish someone would've called me out on my shit back then, i guess. but yeah, cooking for myself ? it's a mess every day. "
" it is. you should try it if you haven't. " tilly can't recommend it enough. " it's easy to make. which is nice when you don't want to cook. " which is often in her case. she feels that it might occasionally be the case for the other as well. " well that doesn't sound good. " she's a little curious to know the extent of what he means , like what kind of shit he must've pulled & why exactly he's come to regret it. is it more than just because he's moved across the ocean , away from his family ? though she does want to know , she can't imagine directly asking about it. " i guess it's good that we have so many restaurants around then. even if i don't always have the money for them. "

" three followers ! only three followers ? " donut is complaining to herself as she she stares down at the cell phone in her hands. she's finally confident enough in her ability to type – it had taken some time to get used to having opposable thumbs – so yesterday , she took to opening up her first social media account. she'd expected it to gain followers instantaneously , but her numbers were still so very low after an astounding six hours spent live reacting to the latest tv show release. " do you think it might be a glitch ? "
for beth greene.

" it's really one of a kind , " donut says as though there's not three more of them nestled in the onsite vault. she could always insist that she meant it in the figurative sense anyway – it truly is a gorgeous necklace , a thin silver chain threaded gingerly through her fingers as she shows it to the other. she probably should have left it on its stand after removing it from the glass , but she'd wanted to feel the metal herself , even if the jewels displayed better against the black velvet than while dangling from her careful grasp. " so what do you think ? you're interested , right ? "
from aelin galathynius.

" are you the new security hire ? " donut knows that the company has been using temporary guards while they attempt to fill the vacancy on a more permanent basis , so she's not entirely surprised to see the unfamiliar face. however , they haven't left her with any notes regarding the change this time. she knows better than to outright let a stranger know this , even though her initial question might have already implied as much. she really does hope that he's the new guard though , as his intimidating demeanor is rather offputting otherwise. " or are you looking for something ? we do have this gold chain that i think would look just spectacular on you ! "
for draxxen.

" i'm not sure how you feel about decorative bracelets , but we recently received an assortment of new charms. " though the smile on donut's face has ' customer service ' written all over it – she has to make that commission somehow – she truly is happy to see glinda again. she doesn't know her well , but she's been around often enough for her to determine that she likes the other. " this one is my favorite. " she delicately taps a finger on the glass , pointing to the gold cat beneath it. " i bought it as soon as i was able. it's just beautiful , isn't it ? " the store's rotating collection of charms is always very limited , so she was happy to see this one. " but if you don't want one , then we can certainly find something else magnificent for you ! "
for glinda upland.
cordelia blinked at that, giving him a look, before uttering: "ugh, as if i'd marry a guy like that." naturally, she viewed herself as being above him, what with all the belief in vampires. it was ironic really, if only she could remember her life in los angeles - it had been riddled with vampires, and while she hadn't married a man, she'd been falling for a half-demon at one point, and later for a vampire. clearly it wasn't the craziest notion in the world, but so many memories were missing, it sounded crazy where she was now. the life she'd lived just didn't sound possible, but then again, neither did half of the things she'd heard around dc lately. suddenly it seemed like everyone was full of conspiracy theories. "go on then, you got any terrible dating stories? make me feel better."
" i just meant that you might've ended up in something more serious if he never said anything about it. so you dodged a bullet there , getting that out of the way so early. " as far as edward's concerned anyway. " unfortunately , i don't have any to share. " at least , he has nothing that he'd be willing to tell her. of course , there's the aforementioned first date & the supernatural baseball game where she almost got murdered ... terrible things , really. he's not willing to part with those stories. " i don't date much at all. " the only person that he has dated , he went on to marry , though bella doesn't remember at much. they haven't been together in years , but he hasn't felt the need to get into the dating world regardless. he never has – bella had been a rarity. " i feel that my dating stories would bore you anyway. "
"i've been working as a teacher. so blame my students. the vocabulary in which i hear in the classroom is certainly interesting." it was then she couldn't help but laugh. it wasn't like she would change it, not at all, but the fact that she had skibidi toliet stuck in hear for three months was not the most fun time in her immortal life. "oh please pass the word along. the more the merrier in terms of help. we've got to make this a get together everyone will be talking about for at least the next decade."
" i do not envy you , " edward replies empathetically as he's internally groaning in distaste. he is certainly glad that he missed the period in which esme had that stuck in her head. he does a fairly decent job at tuning out brainrot when he is exposed to it , but he's sure that it's much harder when a classroom full of students is vocalizing it. " you definitely have more patience than i do for it though. that doesn't surprise me in the slightest. " education , especially anything under post secondary , is not something that he would consider pursuing himself. " but i'm sure that alice will be thrilled to hear that. "
“ A few , yes . Did they- “ Irina felt almost ashamed to ask . She was sorry for her actions . At the time , she had not been , as she had wanted the Cullens to pay . “ Did they hurt your daughter ? Your family? “ Because the Cullens and especially Carlisle , whom she had known for the longest time , had been as close to her as Kate and Tanya had . “ Thank you . “ She nodded , following him along the way . “ Edward , I never got to say I am sorry . It was all a misunderstanding. Your father is amongst one of my oldest friends . I should have stopped to talk to him , at least . I am sorry . “ Her voice was but a mere whisper , but Irina was aware that he would be able to hear her . “ Did they make it ? “ Tanya and Kate . Carmen and Eleazar . Had they ?
" they're safe. " it's obvious that edward is grateful for the fact that it's true. while it's very unfortunate that irina was killed , the rest of those involved – both family & otherwise – had made it out physically unscathed. however , there had been a long moment where it looked as if the outcome might've turned out much different. it's for that reason that he can't yet bring himself to wholeheartedly forgive her , but he greatly appreciates her apology nonetheless. " i do agree that you should've talked to him , but i also understand why you did what you did. " between the death of her mate & her past regarding immortal children , perhaps it was too easy to make that decision in the moment. " your family made it out unharmed as well. you were the only casualty. you didn't deserve that though , & i wish that things had turned out differently for you too. "
"thanks," rikki answered with a soft smile. even if owning a cafe against wasn't where she had seen her life going she was still proud of it. was it flashy or big? no. but it was a little place that was her own and she made sur it was a place she could incorporate some of her own beachy themes in to. "i love being my own boss. i just don't like when i end up having to be someone else's boss. it's so stressful."
" yeah , i'm sure that part is hard , " katniss replies. she doesn't have any true experience in management herself , & her memories regarding any moment of leadership is gone , so she doesn't have any connections to make right now. but she's inclined to agree that it at least sounds stressful , & she'll take the other's word for it. " what made you open up a cafe ? any specific reason ? "
jesper takes a second to appreciate that the eyes they just happened to catch are especially pretty, and then chances a quick glance toward the door, inexplicably trusting the other's word. as far as he can tell the coast is clear, but he's suddenly not in any hurry to flee the scene, or even get up to order his waffles. " — nah, this is my idea of a meet cute. " jesper's tone is droll, and their eyes are alight with amusement. rather than giving anything more away, he raises the book in his hand and asks, " better question - this yours? what is it, a secret code? you a spy or something? "
jesper had only glanced at it for a minute, but that had been long enough to see that it pretty much consists of a few sketches and some random scrawl, as well as something that might be music notes. until this moment they hadn't been particularly intrigued by it, but something about the stranger in front of him makes jesper crave answers - and as a perk this interrogation is proving to be a nice little distraction.
" so you weren't hiding ? " that seems to be the main thing that wylan takes from the statement , at least as far as he outwardly acknowledges , but there's a hint of color that blushes his cheeks anyway. he reasons that it must simply be from the mortification of having his notes seen by this particular stranger as he instinctively reaches out for the journal. they're not sure how to explain it to them , seeing that they alluded to the unusualness of the pages. " but no , i'm not a spy. " they sound slightly affronted by the question , though this time , they're positive that the defensive reaction is out of embarrassment. " i could ask you the same , you know. is the tall backpack guy someone who is after you ? because you stole their secrets or something ? " it's weak , he knows. there's a resigning sigh before they continue. " the book is mine though , yes. it's just how i work through my head is all. "
he didn't miss the way she said we. we have our work cut out for us, like it was definitive they'd work together again here. to adam, it just felt right. there'd been a time before morgan, when he couldn't envision working anywhere other than the lapd - he'd remained there since he was a rookie, given over twenty years of his life to the force...but something had changed when she came in, he couldn't envision doing any of it without her now. he'd insisted to wagner that morgan worked with him on every case, and turned down a job with the fbi because it would mean walking away from this partnership. here, things would be so different. sure, there might be crimes like those back home to look into, but there was something far bigger than any of that going on. whatever was messing with her memory, and no doubt the memories of other people in the city? it would be a lot harder to figure out and explain. there'd be nobody to arrest for it, which meant there was no way in hell it was going to be easy. "we do," karadec agreed, a tiny smile touching his lips at the 'we'. yeah, it felt right. "but whatever it takes, we'll figure this out, morgan. it's not gonna be easy, but i'm prepared to do this. partners?" he cleared his throat. maybe that was a bit presumptuous, when she'd been doing this alone, and didn't even remember him. "or...i work for you. whatever you wanna call this."
if morgan were in a better mood , then perhaps she would stick her hand out in that cheesy way that people do when they come to an agreement. or maybe not as it barely even crosses her mind at this point. " partners. " the verbal confirmation does come with a definitive nod though. while it's maybe a little risky , she couldn't imagine having to be a steady employer instead. she likes managing her own work , but she's not going to make herself responsible for adam's. either she trusts him enough to work with her , or she doesn't , so might as well go all out if it's the former. if they're truly a team , partners just sounds better anyway. " you'll have to give me a day to wrap my head around this though. " maybe with adam's help , they'll get some answers soon , but she's going to need a moment before she starts actively digging into any of her work , let alone this. unfortunately , she'll probably get home & immediately start looking into it anyway , regardless of what she tells herself. " here , give me your phone. i'm assuming that you'll have my contact on there. it's probably under something as boring as my full name , right ? " she's not sure if the number would be the same though. " i want to make sure that it's up to date so that we can get a hold of each other. "
“thanks!” adrien brightens, a smile spreading across his face, much like a cat might at praise. it’s a more tame reaction to some of the people he’s run into so far. many like to crack some sort of joke about halloween. he hops down from the ledge, landing perfectly on his feet. “comes with being a hero,” he gives the simpler explanation. while he may not be in paris, some level of secrecy still applies so long as his miraculous works. “chat noir, here to help.” he bows in greeting. “cool tiara. are you a princess?”
" black cat. how clever. " it's intended to sound like a genuine compliment , even though there's a part of her that feels the name lacks originality. still , she feels that he earns points in her book for choosing a superior species as inspiration for a hero identity – oh , how she misses being a cat. " but thank you , " she responds with a smile , her hands reaching up to gingerly touch the tiara on her head. unfortunately , it's not the one that she arrived with – that one crumbled the moment that she took it off to sleep – but she found a new one to wear from time to time. " i am. gc , bwr , nw princess donut the queen anne chonk , or simply princess donut if you must. it's a pleasure to meet you. "
Her relationship with the Cullens was tainted . There was no other way to say it . Irina did not wish for it to be so . They had been her family back then . Carlisle was the one person that had known her and Tanya and Kate for the longest time now . What had come to pass , however , had changed that . " Hello , Edward , " Her tone was not nearly as venomous as she had hoped it would be . Irina was well aware that she just sounded tired , for a little moment there . " Perhaps in exchange for some information , I may see what I can do . " Irina did not wish to help him . At the same time , she did . But what she wanted most ? It was to see if he knew what had become of her sisters after everything . Of Carmen and Eleazar . Had they been spared , unlike her ? Or had they paid the price , too ?
" of course. i'm sure that you have a lot of questions. " edward might not have the answers for all of them , but he can see that she's concerned about her coven. about their fate , understandably so. though he hasn't seen them in a few years , not since his arrival , he could put her mind at ease regarding that day of confrontation. " i will do my best to answer them. " he doesn't want to speak too openly by the entrance , not when there are humans nearby. while they could speak in a way to avoid being overheard , he supposes that it would be odd to see the two of them staring at each other long enough to have a full conversation. " here , help me find a good book. we can talk about your family on the way. "
ironic as it would seem, given her current stance on vampires, she'd known her fair share of people killed by them too. her high school best friend had been turned, but the notion of that was laughable right now. people didn't just get bitten by the undead, that seemed ridiculous. cordy brushed the thought of being bitten off, for the time being, just relieved that this guy didn't seem to have the same weird fascination as her date last night. he seemed to be on her side about it all, a relief considering how many people around dc lately seemed to believe in such whacky things. "i guess you're right," she mused. "but i still think both are just as insane as each other. like, you've gotta have some serious childhood trauma to believe in all of these fairy stories, right?"
" perhaps that's true , " edward relents. he supposes that it's possible that this sort of belief without evidence could be contributed to past trauma , but psychology is a subject that he has yet to study to its proper extent. he might consider that as his next major though if the future were to allow it. it could be interesting , but he's not sure if his ability to get into others' heads , in the somewhat literal sense , would turn out to be a good thing or a bad one. it would have both its pros & cons within the profession , that's for certain." at least you found out about the belief now though , right ? " even if it's clear that the other was weirded out about the conversation. " better on the first date than your wedding day , i would think. "
