That’s not the right mindset.

If the criminal justice system operated perfectly without bias, we could discuss this. But that will never be the case because human error will always be a factor when serving justice. We aren’t talking about a cashier accidentally giving you $1 in change instead of $10. We are talking life or death within an inherently classist and racist system. Re: the death penalty, one avoidable mistake is too many. The death penalty wouldn’t rid society of pedophelia or murder either; it executes a tiny tiny fraction of perpetrators, sometimes incorrectly and through a systemically flawed, racist, and classist system. Innocent people are killed with no way of reversing the case after new evidence is uncovered years later.

Abolish the death penalty.
