when nothing seems to make sense, you can always start again; find a new city, try a new job anything to stop thinking about the buzz that rests in your chest. if you're tired of these attempts, you can always run away to a place with no trees, where the memory of darkness is vague, remotely related to the sand that scrapes your throat when you swallow. and it won't be in vane, walking aimlessly through a maze, where the ones you mourn aren't the ones you love. and history doesn't threaten you, so the ache neither does. but the body never forgets, like bruises that turn green and eventually submerge back into your skin. the heart and the brain are always the same. and the fears will stay, trembling when the void inevitably comes; and even when neither of us could dare, my heart would look for yours again, anxious to reconnect, anxious to start beating the same.
the trees you grew up with have not forgotten you. their branches still whisper your name in the breeze and their roots remember the paths your feet once traced through their shade.
