Excellent ! My turn. I onced tricked a spirit into believing the red wine and dragon’s blood powder mixture I served it was the blood offering it was due. No idea how it bought that, no idea if it would work again, but when you have certain geasa, you make do. To whomever it may concern…

Witch Tip: Venusian plant spirits love flattery, love to have their praises sung. I also find they’re more active during midday in full sun. Saturnian herbs can be slow to open up, but are excellent teachers once they do.

Witch Tip: When visiting a graveyard, especially for magic purposes, leave a penny at the gate as offering to its guardians. I’ve seen them fight off spirits that would have hurt me otherwise.

Witch Tip: numerology is helpful but trust me, repeating that prayer or incarnation until you can barely speak and the words hang heavy from your tongue, rather than adhering to a set number of repetitions, will 1000% get you in an altered state of consciousness which will allow you to commune with the spirits at work much more easily. This is when you raise power and gain the ability to affect the weave.

Witch Tip: When practicing skyclad, make sure the blinds are drawn. Otherwise you might an uncomfortable call from the neighbors, and that will ruin your experiment!

Witch tip: don’t pour water on a burning candle. Candles are essentially burning oil and water will cause a dangerous flare up.

So a quick story. I was doing shadow work and part of it involved burning several sheets of paper. This is Florida with high humidity on a drizzly night, so I stuck a small tealight at the bottom of the cauldron to help burn things. That worked but when I was done, the tealight was covered with paper ash and I sort of forgot it was down there (it had been an intense ritual) so I poured water in the cauldron. The water hit the tealight and flames shot out of the cauldron. Fortunately I was in a clear space and on concrete so nothing caught fire but I learned why water and paraffin candles don’t mix.

Witch tip: always mix your essential oils w a carrier oil before annoiting/bath work. When using oils in a diffuser be conscious of which essential oils you use if you have a pet as MANY OF THEM are poisonous to cats!!

It didn’t occurr to me until just now how incredibly old the Theoi are…They’ve been here for millennia, watching the very course of human history unfold. And here I am. I am not an Ancient Greek at the foot of a massive, beautiful temple, but a young girl worshipping Them in her kitchen and praying to Them during her chemistry class. As long as we love Them, They will live forever and ever. It’s so humbling and absolutely beautiful.

Hel Mary - 07/01/20

“Hel Mary” is the title of my personal upcycled art projects in which I thrift abandoned Mother Mary statues and give them new life with paint & love. My newest addition is adorned with clear and smoky quartz points, sustainably foraged & cleaned animal bones and a labradorite cab in her hand.

Hel is the Norse deity of the underworld, said to have the appearance of being half alive. She looks after those who did not die on the battlefield.
