piper jumped slightly and nearly dropped everything she had in her hands. but her mini heart attack soon turned into pure excitement. she laughed and returned the hug. she was thankful that lilah was one of the first faces she saw today, because piper swore she radiated sunshine all of the time. that’s the energy she needed right now.  “i missed you too!” she blushed and covered her cheeks. “oh my gosh really? you like it? i’m not going to lie i was so scared to show up with pink hair. i feel like it’s the first day of school.. ya know when you change up your look and debut it to the entire class.” she laughed and picked up a few leis, holding them up to lilah to see which one matched her the most. “i’ve been.. doing good. for the most part. i really needed a break from this place and… well some people.” she whispered the last part. she was too embarrassed to bring up her situation. but she also knew lilah would understand. she was battling between venting to her or just keeping it under wraps. 

Lilah’s heart felt like it was going to explode out of her chest when Piper confirmed she missed her, too. “Of course I do! It brings out the hazel in your eyes and brightens up your whole face! You already looked like a radiating sun goddess before, but now?” Lilah gestured up and down Piper’s body. “This is just unfair. Oh my gosh, that takes me back! I remember the night before school I’d be so nervous and excited that I couldn’t sleep. Then you walk into the class and everyone looks right at you! Trust me, everyone’s jaw is going to be on the floor when they see it. But I’m super biased. You’re my favorite person and pink’s my favorite color, so...” Her face lit up when Piper showed the leis. She was curious to see what color Piper would assign her. Lilah nodded in understanding. Nothing bonded women closer than sharing an embarrassing ex. “I totally get it. If it helps, certain people haven’t been around in months. They got let go. Shocker, right?"

Honestly, in cases like that, kidnapping pets should be legal.” Lilah winced in sympathy at Quinn’s story. “Is it just me or have our customers been extra annoying lately? It’s like they all woke up and decided together to be the embodiment of our worst nightmare. Well, lucky for you, I can at least fix one of those problems.” Lilah flashed her a warm smile before getting up from her seat, returning a few moments later with a coffee mug filled to the brim for Quinn.

It had been a very interesting first day for Chace. Nothing had quite gone as he had expected it to go today, but for the most part, the guy couldn’t say today was a bad day in the slightest. Uncomfortable at some parts? Absolutely, but overall a pretty successful first day. He had managed to reach his final hour of work without causing a scene, messing up too majorly, or feeling like he had made a mistake in the move back to Scranton. One thing he had come to learn rather quickly was that this entire office ran off of coffee for a reason because by this hour, he had already had five cups, and he was heading to the break-room for his sixth one to finish off the workday. Upon entering the break-room, his eyes fell upon the only other person (besides the camera crew) in the room, a small smile quickly appearing on his lips, deciding to be friendly, he walked up to them, “ I must admit, I am on my sixth cup of joe today.” He laughed, wondering if people still called it a cup of joe, “I must ask, is it normal to drink so much coffee around here, or is this because I didn’t go to sleep until four in the morning?”

Lilah laughed. “Well, you’re probably asking the wrong person here. I survive off coffee both in and out of the office. Coffee is a mom’s best friend.” Lilah took a sip off her own cup. “Y’know, I can’t even remember how many cups I’ve had... I pretty much always have one in my hand. The espresso machine doesn’t exactly help my self-control. You’re new, right?” It was always exciting to see a new face around the office. She gave him a friendly smile. “Don’t worry. It’s completely normal and you’re doing fine. I was a disaster on my first day here--- I was temping, and trying to do the coffee order, and managed to get the entire order wrong. Then I spilled it trying to go up the stairs. So, in comparison, you’re perfect! I’m Lilah,” she stuck out a hand for him to shake. “Why were you up until four in the morning? That’s not good for you! Sleep is important.”

it had been a little over a month since piper decided she needed to take a small hiatus from the office. due to being invested in the wrong people, it made her life feel completely unbalanced, her priorities were screwed up, and overall she was just slowly becoming a person she didn’t like. rather than taking her work seriously and getting to know her co workers, she was hung up on well other things to say the least. that being said, she needed to clear her mind.. start over. so hawaii it was! piper decided to treat herself and go on a spontaneous trip to hawaii. it gave her the opportunity to clear her mind all by herself. and besides it was her 26th birthday. she had to live a little. but she took “being spontaneous” to a whole other level. during her month vacation, she changed her entire appearance. she decided to get a couple tattoos and change her hair. but now that she was home, her nerves set in a bit. first because the colors may not be professional and secondly, she felt like her co workers would judge. i mean, don’t teenagers do this kind of stuff? she felt like she was rebelling. but this is what piper chose and she was going to show off her new look with confidence.

she woke up a little earlier than usual because a. she already knew she had a ton of work to catch up on and 2. she brought back some souvenirs for everyone and wanted to set up in the conference room. as she was delicately putting out the lei’s and various treats she picked up, she heard someone shuffling and taking their jacket off at the front. “shit” she muttered. she wasn’t sure if she was ready to see everyone again.

Life in the office hadn’t been anything terribly different in the past month. There was the typical drama hanging around, which Lilah did her best to be a support to people while keeping herself very much not involved. It all bled together after a while. She figured it would be just another day as she slid into the office---only to stop short at the sight of Piper. Throwing her jacket and bag on the floor ( she’d pick it up later ), Lilah ran over and threw her arms around Piper. “YOU’RE BACK! OH MY GOSH, I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!” She was unable to contain her excitement. Pulling back, she took in the sight of the new pink strands. “You look so fucking badass! People are going to love it so much! How have you been?”
