I’m building my team for the Walk to Defeat ALS at the Ocean City NJ Boardwalk. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in which the motor nuerons throughout the body fail usually within 2 - 5 years from the time of diagnosis. Patients lose the ability to speak, walk, and eventually, breathe. At this time, there is no cure, but research is ongoing and crucial in the fight to Defeat this aggressive disease.
My Mother, Lorraine, passed from this disease just shy of 2 year mark from the time she was diagnosed. She had the chance to meet and hold my daughter (her first grandchild) Leila Rose, who was just a tiny baby when my Mom passed in August of 2006. As baby Leila pet her Grandma’s arm, as if to say “I love you, Grandma” I promised my Mom that I would do all I can to raise awareness and fight for a cure.
