As mentioned a few months prior, I am moving to a new multimuse. I have a few other muses there, one that has been seen here as a guest prior, and a few others that might be new to people who haven't seen my other blogs in the past. I hope my roleplay partners are willing to make the move with me, and I thank those who have already done so.

He knew he wasn't one to talk, Arrow knew that as well as he knew his own name, but if anything was going to damn the older hero it was his curiously.

And since it was just he and Lil at the moment, there was no other time to ask.

"Did Gold send anything over...?" He did so delicately, at least. It was still odd to the hero that Lil seemed...off that year. There could be a million reasons for that, but he had to start somewhere.

"Yeah he did. Got me a guitar to start my own collection." The smaller hedgehog chuckled. He hadn't been in much of a hurry to head home. It was quite lonely there and it wasn't what he wanted this time of year. He hadn't expected to to be this hard. There were plenty of years where he was alone for the holidays, but lately that had been different. He had someone to enjoy that time with.

This year was different. While he wasn't sad about it, it didn't feel right going back to being alone for this time of year. It was why he was around Arrow and his family more than usual...More like their family, if Arrow were to correct him. Being around them lifted the burden a great deal and helped him deal with the loneliness.

"You know, with everything going on for me right now, I haven't had the time to relax until the holidays. Didn't think being a rising star would make things so hectic, as dumb as that sounds."

He wasn't going to admit what was wrong like that. He hadn't told anyone and he didn't want to during the season...Unless Arrow really pushed for it.

— “will you please take a break?”

Take a break? Take a break?! Those words were almost like heresy to his ears. He couldn't take a break now, not while he was so close (or at least that's what it felt like). He needed to do this! If he could just finally learn to keep control of all this Chaos Energy, to be able to freely channel it without his body tormenting him...

Just his legs were shaky. He had been at this for hours, yet it felt like weeks. He was physically exhausted, yet he was still pushing himself far beyond what he should. It would be all worth it if he could just...

The flames around him were beginning to falter, far from the wild and undisciplined inferno he had started as. It's why he chose a secluded area where he couldn't catch the place up in flames. Yet now he was barely able to keep it going. His body couldn't take it anymore. The flames quickly snuffed out and he collapsed into his knees, his body shaking from the intensity of what he put himself through. His body felt like it was burning, yet no physical burns could be seen along his body. It contrasted the singe ground around him.

Lil' looked at his older brother with a look the other knew too well. He wanted to keep going, yet he couldn't push himself any further, not right now. "...Fine..." he spoke, somewhat defeatedly. He would have to concede to the other's request for now...

There was another day however.

amy just shrugged. she knew, or had known, people with such a set up. she had never wanted such a thing herself, but she could see a certain draw to it all the same. still, home was home and she agreed with lil on that one.

"if it wasn't regularly attacked by eggman, and the villagers weren't...themselves, maybe. but i'm fine with it being its own little slice of paradise. even if the word is a little loose at times," she chuckled. "it's still the best place to find ruins from the ancients and that's enough for me."

plus her friends lived there, but she figured that part was obvious.

"Yeah, the villagers would kill it for me, personally. I don't think I could personally live around people who truly don't seem to want me around. Why would I want to setup shop where I don't feel welcome?"

He wondered how Basswood could deal with all of the looks and sour demeanor. For Lil' it was a buzz kill. He like having people nearby that he could strike a casual conversation or get to know. A friendly neighborhood was crucial for him, should one be near their home or be the place they traveled to frequently.

that was the best thing amy could come up with without sounding harsh. sometimes she did wonder about the villagers, but she also knew they were pretty harmless at the end of the day. at least in a physical sense.

"you're not wrong. i think most people would lose their minds. not to mention the impact on the plants and animals. but, you're right, i guess that's one luxury we do have. we can travel to the mainland, spend some time in a colder place and come right back home where it's warm. it makes me see why some people have two houses on opposite sides of the globe."

"Two homes? Geez, I understand renting a place briefly, but that's crazy." Lil' never had a long term place to call home until recently, to hear people owned multiple places was crazy.

"I am all about travel, but you would think people would take care of the one place they call their own..."

Lil' would look out towards the rest of the island that they stood on as he thought for a moment. "...then again, I have a feeling this place would be one of those, 'second home' locations..."

{➹} – THAT WAS SOMETHING Arrow knew all too well. Being, for lack of a better word, forced into being a hero. He had no one but himself to blame, however, and he knew that no one else had been obligated to step up. It had been his cross to bear, his curse for a mistake a far younger version of himself had created.

And he knew as well as he knew his own name there was no getting out of it. Even now, that weight was still on his shoulders in several ways but had calmed down. Something he hadn't foreseen ever happening, but it provided him yet another reason to fight. To make sure his title of hero was proven now more than ever.

He didn't know what the future held for Lil, but he hoped it wasn't anything as chaotic or death defying as what Arrow himself had gone through. More reason the elder would help where, and when he could. Training was just one of those ways.

But as Lil brought up another possibility, Arrow paused. His expression was thoughtful, but only for a moment or two before he gave a half shrug.

"Can't hurt t' ask. The main obstacle is going t' be the source of your power, since it's not from this Zone, but 'm pretty sure the basic principles are still the same no matter what," he explained, knowing full well none of the other Guardians would mind teaching a friend of his. "As long as you don't mind facing Chaos, I can arrange something for a few days from now."

Another pause, and this time the elder frowned. "Might have t' do it off Angel Island though..."

"I've heard of him, but never really met him." Lil' mentioned, shrugging a bit before he thought about the last statement. "Yeah...Staying away from the Master Emerald is probably a good idea, at least for now. It's taken enough time for me to be able to adjust to the Chaos Emeralds, at least a little."

It was true that his mood in the base was better, the overwhelming feeling from before was no longer there, but it still took a toll. The amulet from the incident literally comatosed him for several minutes...The Master Emerald would absolutely be too much. At least for now.

"But, we can worry about that later. Right now, we got some training to do." The hedgehog rolled his arms and warmed up briefly.

"Let's do this!"

"Yeah, you kids sure didn't need any help back then." It was true; perhaps the only reason for him to be there was to make sure they would be alright in case something really went downhill, but overall they handled themselves without much trouble.

"Considering the day, I imagine everyone makes a big deal about her birthday, so I am not surprised." Lil' chuckled a bit. "I remember back home everything being a small affair, even on the more important days of the year. At least Harmony gets to enjoy the bigger festivities."

His attention was back on Volt as he let the teenagers do their thing. "I imagine you get all sort of people coming here during the holidays. Must be nice to see how this hard work that you've put into this place really pay off during this time of year, huh?"

The teens said their goodbyes to both adults and went into the back to gather their supplies to start decorating the Inn. If Volt suspected anything, it was that the front porch would be perfect for the upcoming festival. While also having little bits for the teen's 16th birthday thrown in.

The rest of the village was already filled with festive decor. Stands of colorfully banners in fall colors. Gourds and harvested crops set about doorsteps and window displays. Even a few offerings left around for the gods that came before the current. Sternenberg always went all out in celebrations.

And the true was for the Inn and the innkeeper. Volt chuckled and leaned against the counter. "We get some that are here t' visit family who moved away for one reason or another. I've had a few bounty hunters stay during the festivals, but I'm pretty sure they're just lookin' for a hot meal they didn't have t' cook themselves.

"'S nice t' see all the things I do bring happiness t' those that visit. Honestly never would o' thought I would be where I am now, but 's funny how things can change over the years. Ya know?" He smiled. "Would ya like a room for a few days? Can check out the start o' the festival and maybe bring your band. We're always lookin' for new music t' enjoy."

"To be fair, who would want to pass up on an opportunity to get a meal and a place to stay. Hell, I would have, back in the day." The hedgehog couldn't help but think on that for a brief moment. There were many times he would have loved that, but there were many situations he was forced to camp out and fend for himself. He didn't have to worry about that nowadays, for the better at least.

"Guess some things never change. I feel like many of us just want to see people happy, even if we go about it differently that we used to. But I agree, a lot of things can changes over a few years." The hedgehog thought about the other's offer. It was tempting, and it gave him the space to really think about his next moves in life. "I don't see why not. Some space for myself and having the band come to enjoy the festival is always nice. Plus, this place has some great views at night after all. So long as the people here don't mind a bit of hard rock, I don't think we'll be too rowdy for you all."

"Guess my only regret is that Ray won't be here to join us. He's gone on a medical study for a bit..." His thoughts dwelled on that for a moment, a tinge of sadness fell upon him that he hid from the other, making it look more like he was in thought. "...Yet even after a good few years, some things don't change..."

How's that Amy girl doing? Is she still chasing ya?

That was a touchy subject, but he wasn't going to bring up more than he needed to. He just simply turned to head away from this grey face before he could ask anymore questions.

"None of your business."

You ungrateful peasants locked Eggman in a prison cell/zone!? All he wanted to do is create a mechanical paradise free of hunger ,sickness and old age. You could have accepted him as your lord and saviour and you could have lived forever as marvelous machines but no, you denied him and his free gift of roboticization.😤

"Yeah, you can fuck right off, thanks."

Lil, what are you gonna do when Eggman jicksy the bucket? Are you gonna celebrate?

"Given the current situation, I will never know if or when that will happen. We took a zone in the multiverse that he used as his base of operations and made it his prison cell. It was considered a 'dead' zone, given that there was no substantial life there anyways, or at least from what Gold tells me. So the only way for me know if he's even alive is if he ever somehow breaks out..."

"Then again, I don't see how he would have survived for so long without being able to sustain himself, so who knows. All I know is, I can only hope the stuff that shows up is just the remnants from our last encounter and nothing new that is created."

More than a little used to playful teasing, Harmony leaned the side of her head against Buddy's chest with a grin at Lil's look. Volt also smirked and shrugged his shoulders. She was soon to be 16 and he agreed with many of their friends that he'd lucked out on her finding someone that understood her as well as Buddy did.

Not to mention he was just a good kid in general.

"Harms does that all on her own." Tangle looked over from where she was pampering Fafo, grinning as the teen's cheeks flushed ever so slightly pink. "I mean. You were here for when Mr. Volt go taken. Did you see what she did to Rough and Tumble to get the info out of them? I'm pretty sure they pissed themselves.

"And that's not even mentioning just how badass she looked when she went super to fight the Titans on Starfall Island." Now Harmony was really trying to hide her face. At least Buddy used the arm around her shoulder to gently rub her back instead as Volt let out a chuckle.

"Alright you four. I think we've kept ya long enough. Go get the supplies from the kitchen and head out." The teens didn't need to be told twice and made their way towards the back. "They've been looking forward t' decoratin' the Inn for Samhain and her birthday for a few weeks now."

"Least I ain't usin' ya as an arm rest." One more playful tease before the teen straightened and turned to her teammates as they made their way into the lobby. They had plans that afternoon, now that she was done with her chores, but they could hold off for just a little while longer to catch up.

Buddy had gently ran a hand over her shoulder as he passed to grab them all drinks from the kitchen. Tangle had wasted very little time in burying her hands in Maine Coon belly and pampering Fafo in the windowsill. A chuckle rose from the older hybrid as he watched the feline stretch out as much as he could without falling off the sill.

"He made himself a kid." Volt corrected and pointed to a more recent photo of the teenagers at their usual fire pit out back. A silver haired girl in a black dress was sitting with wide red eyes at the taste of a s'more. "Her name's Sage and if ya come by for Harmony's birthday, ya just might meet her."

He left it at that and moved to get the laundry loaded into the nearby washer so the teens could regard the smaller hedgehog.

"We're doing all we can t' make sure Egghead is kept in check. Ain't nobody able t' stop the four o' us." With a puff of her chest, Harmony grinned and put her arms around Buddy's middle when he returned with waters for them all. He adjusted his slanted glasses after tossing one to Tangle and Whisper, then set it around Harmony's shoulder.

"There's still a lot we can learn from the Freedom Fighters but they trust us to take on our own solo missions now."

"That makes a lot more sense." Leave it to the doc to actually build himself a daughter rather than met someone and go that route. Still, it perplexed the hedgehog as why he would desire such a thing, but the egghead was more complex than he showed himself to be.

"He should just give up now, before even more people start to take up Egg-crack'n as a hobby." The hedgehog said amused. The fact the four were able to handle their own wasn't surprising. Neither was seeing Harmony and Buddy side-by-side. He would subtlety glance at the two and smirk, looking at Volt for the briefest of moments to give him a look; one that the hybrid could tell was if amusement and knowing. Lil' was tempted to ask the two how long they had been dating, in jest of course, but he held his tongue for the moment.

"You didn't need much help bad then either, so I'm not surprised. I am sure you four are going to make people think twice before getting your bad side." So long as the team didn't let it become their complete lives that is, but he was confident that wouldn't happen with this group.

amy had opened her mouth to protest again, but fell short when she realized that, yes, on occasion her partner did hide things in his quills. her own were far too short to do such a thing and she huffed quietly.

but soon she shook it off. "i'd like to experience a real winter here, but that's pretty much impossible. and you can't really blame them for staring, you look a lot different than sonic. to be fair, though, they stare at him too and he's been here for years at this point. i just think the villagers are...quirky in that way."

"Quirky is one way of putting it." He would prefer the term, unwelcoming. They always seemed to be put off by his presence, despite his best attempt to put people at ease. Perhaps Basswood would know why, but he preferred not to dig into that mess.

"Yeah I think something would be terribly wrong if winter ended up here. Still, there are always other places to go to experience that sort of thing, even if it's just to say that you did. Personally, the beginning of it is nice, but it gets a bit old for me after a month or so."
