A small, blue hedgehog...reminiscent of that 'Sonic' character from one of Ash's games, but he appeared more grown- a different kind of the same one. Thanks to a few of his more recent escapades, the Prime could guess this was another traveler...albeit, one that was currently staring at him, as tense as a Decepticon miner that had been stumbled upon by an Autobot. Blue optics whirred in their sockets, his gaze fixed.
It would be best not to make any sudden moves- not until the stranger had calmed. So for now, he remained relatively still. Willing his systems to dip a hint low in favor of quieting excess noise. Even the subconscious twitch of his finials was kept in check.
"I mean you no harm, little one." The volume of his voice, much like everything else, was forcibly quieted in favor of not disturbing the other further. "Of that, I assure you." Despite his best efforts, his voice still carried that deep, low rumble in it. Some things could not be so easily overcome, no matter how he attempted to manipulate his own systems. "...I am Optimus Prime,...and you are?"
{➹} – IT WAS A wise move. As much as the hedgehog was telling himself not to act rashly, there was that little part, deep in his mind, that promised himself he wasn't going to be a target to another machine. Not after all this time, and not if he had anything to say about it.
He was biased. He knew that. It was one of his many flaws, and one that wasn't going to disappear no matter how much time had passed. The saving grace here was that the being currently towering over him didn't attack. Didn't threaten him, didn't even make a move except to speak.
And that alone clued the hero in to what he already knew. There was no danger here.
"Not that little." He had taken some small offense to that, but he knew it was also technically true. Regardless, he forced his body to relax as he took a closer look at the one in front of him. He hadn't seen anything like them. Far too slick to be something of Robotnik's, to say nothing of the way they talked and looked back at him.
Clearly they weren't a mindless machine, and that sent a relief through the Mobian. "Sonic...Sonic the Hedgehog. An' I probably don't need t' say that 'm not from around here, do I?"
“I get that… I’ve had a hundred names… maybe more. But across it all… I’ve always been The Stalker. There was a time when I hated it. When I wanted more than anything to hide it… but now? Well, I’m glad it was me. The fifteenth and final. At this point, it’s just… who I am.”
That was more about his past than he’d probably ever spoken to Arrow about. Come to think of it, he’d probably not even mentioned remembering more of it since they’d first met.
“Oh, uh… yeah… I’ve been getting a lot of my memories back. It’s been… an interesting year since I made my way here.”
{➹} – A BROW WAS raised at that. A name he hadn't heard the other referred to as thus far, but given their situation, Arrow wasn't that surprised. He had fully expected, at some point, the other would find a name far more suited to them, if not their original one.
What was more concerning was the rest of it. The numbers alone were alarming, and already Arrow had a feeling that he knew at least a part of what the other hand learned about themselves. And he hoped he was wrong about it.
Still, he gave a soft chuckle. "Sounds like things are coming together for you, at least. 'M taking it that you're alright though? No help needed? Nothing too outlandish you've found?"

{➹} – "I FIGURED AS much, but I don't like t' assume," he said with a chuckle. He never was great at giving himself any sort of credit. "It goes both ways though, 'm glad you agreed t' come. Though...'m hoping it doesn't just end with dinner."

{➹} – HE HAD HESITATED. Torn between following the voice and simply letting it be the moment his ears had picked up on the sound. It would have been hard for him not to. Not just because of his own preference, but because it seemed so out of place there in the middle of nowhere.
In the end, his curiosity won out, and it took him less time to pinpoint the source of the sound even in such a remote location. What he hadn't expected to see was the baboon, and again came a pause before he cleared his throat to, hopefully, garner their attention.
"Sorry, didn't mean t' interupt, but I was hoping you could help me with something."
Ever since that day, everyone had been dealing with it in their own way among the usual struggles in this war, for Dan he'd been spending almost every moment when he wasn't on a mission or recovering in the training fields, to such a point he'd been previously told off from trying to push himself too hard.
He felt it was necessary however, feeling responsible for being one of the prime members who had been present and couldn't do a single thing to stop their leader simply trading themselves away. There was no chance he was willing to let that happen again, even if he didn't have an answer like anyone when it came to that unusual power.
So it was likely no surprise to Johnny to see him reviewing and training the same movements he'd been doing for awhile now although the rabbit's state sure did distract him in the moment.
"What happened?" He asks practically immediately, assuming something had happened as he began to move over to join Johnny. "From the state of you, it's gotta be big."
{➹} – IT WASN'T A surprise at all. Everyone had been out of sorts since that day. The rabbit hadn't stop pouring over everything he could, sending teams out and even doing recon himself, and it had taken all of that and more for him to realize just how much weight had been on Sonic's shoulder this whole time.
Porker was still a mess, refusing to come out of his house unless absolutely necessary. Tekno hardly left her lab, and Amy was typically right there with her unless she was called away to a mission. Mina occupied herself trying to keep spirits up, and Rosie and Kintobor...they were doing much the same; or trying to.
But there was no time for dwelling on that.
"Got word Robotnik's forces are nearby. And a lot of them. It looks like he's back to the same crap as before." The bitterness in the rabbit's voice wasn't to be missed. What might have was the slight fear. It had little to do with what was actually happening as much as the implication. One thing he hadn't been able to deny or argue with in recent months was the fact that Sonic's letter had held several truths to it.
The most prevalent being that Robotnik had, indeed, stopped attacking. The doctor and his army had been quiet since that day and that had given The Resistance some much needed breathing room. But now...
"We don't know why, but we know exactly where he's going to be and we need to stop him from leveling the place, and everyone in it."
I love characters who are like "I'm a terrible person" but when you look closer it's more like
"I adapted to survive something and now I don't know how to stop being that version of myself."

{➹} – "'S NOT WORTH it." While the stranger did deserve to be told the mistake of their ways, and that they had picked the wrong people to mess with, the effort just wasn't worth it. Not in Arrow's mind.
It wasn't the first time this had happened, and it wouldn't be the last.

"Hehheh, aren't we a pair huh? We're on the same page about almost everything." Ami laughed a little. "You know what's crazy though? I started out as some crazy mad scientist's experiment, and here I am; celebrating New Years with good company. Where does the time go?"
{➹} – WELL, THAT WAS quite the confession. One that raised a lot of questions in the moment, but why start the new year with suspicions? "That's the funny thing about beginnings, innit? They're only a part of a story, and the rest is pretty much a blank page. Chaos knows I don't have the most glorious backstory either, but..."
A smile. "I like where I've ended up."
The side hug came with one hand gently rubbing the boy's back while Volt read over the letter that came home from school. Harmony had never lasted long in a traditional school so this was a bit of new territory for the hybrid but he knew the rest of the family would be on board with going.
He pulled Motley in close for another gentle reassuring hug at the shiver and smiled when their eyes met. Now there was something he understood.
So when their son looked away, the hybrid knelt so they were at eye level. The letter had been placed on the kitchen island so both hands were free to rest on Motley's shoulders. Although one came up to smooth back some of the fur on his forehead.
"We might have t' remind her not t' throw somebody 'cross the room, but I think she'll be able t' get everyone t' behave while you're presentin'." And if the teen couldn't, the couple would. That Volt was sure of.
Between himself, Arrow, and Harmony, Motley could have peace of mind. "Ya ain't gotta worry 'bout that anymore. I promise."
He even extended a pinkie, just like he used to for Harmony.
{➹} – THE FELINE didn't like talking about his time in the city. Funny, given he had spent far longer in it than with the family he had now, but this second chapter in his life was already so much more prevalent. So much better. He didn't like thinking about what had come before now that he realized how flawed his norm had been.
Feeling Volt's hands on his shoulder was more than enough to get the boy to focus again, and his tail twitched as his fur was patted down. The answer was exactly what he had been hoping for, something he had already known deep down.
"Even if they're being super mean?" It was a joke, sort of. Truthfully, the feline hadn't had a problem with such a thing the entire time he had been in school. Green Hill simply wasn't like that, which had been part of the reason a certain woodchuck had insisted Motley start in the first place.
Again, it wasn't discussed too often but the feline did have a little catching up to do. Something he was already excelling at, frankly. It was the social aspect that needed a bit of work but they had plenty of time to work through that. Not that the feline knew any better, he only knew how serious Volt was when that pinkie was extended and gave a little gasp.
To his young mind, it was the ultimate promise.
There was a moment of hesitation, but soon the feline's pinkie was hooked with the hybrid's, and their smile couldn't have been any bigger. A moment passed before Motley released it, only to abruptly hug Volt with all the might he could muster.
“Must have been early on in your career…” Ash guessed, “Can’t imagine many people are taking shots at you without knowing what the deal is. Still seems a bit weird to get your name that way. No weirder than taking the first one a stranger gives you, though.”
He turned his attention back to the target, eyeing the arrow, before quickly firing his grapple band out, snatching the arrow, and pulling it back from the target, holding it out to his friend.
“But I suppose that by now that’s all just kinda… part of you. It’d feel weird to leave it behind.so, hey! At least props for owning it all.”
{➹} – THE HERO GAVE a nod. It had been one of his first adventures off-planet and, frankly, it was a miracle he had continued after that. It was so far in the past, so overshadowed by good events, that he hardly thought of it anymore. Despite the damage it had done.
"Eh, names are odd like that," he said casually, only blinking when the hook shot out with no warning. Still, it earned more of a grin than anything else as the lone arrow was taken and placed back with the others on the hero's back.
"It's funny, looking at it all. All these years and most people I know call me by a misplaced nickname rather than my real one. Apart from family and friends here, of course. Yet, I still can't imagine being called anything else t' others. 'S basically who I am now."
Sonic returned the smile. ❝ How'd you know? ❞ Asked a playful rhetorical question. The answer would've been obvious — it wasn't natural to have two of the same hedgehog in one world, so he'd rather skip that part. ❝ 'Been lookin' for some excitement. Know where I can find some? ❞
Before he met the other, he had been running around aimlessly — the search for a way back home pushed to the back of his mind; all in favor of checking out whatever catches his eye. Could he be blamed when exploring had awarded him with new stunts to pull?
But playing around by his lonesome wasn't exactly adventure.
{➹} – "CALL IT A wild guess." It wasn't at all, just an educated one. Nevermind the other was, obviously, an alternate, but there weren't any other blue hedgehogs on Mobius. Period. Arrow was the only one, which was another matter entirely.
As for the request, he had to give it an honest thought. Then another before he shrugged. It was a bit of a weighted question in that Zone.
"Depends on the sort you're looking for. If you're talking running through lava fields or causing, then outrunning, say, an avalanche, then yes. If you're leaning more towards defeating hordes of robots or other machines, no. We're fresh out."
