i thought it had some merit because there’s been a couple times the counter was extremely weird (e.g., a shorter counter after buying cookies than usual) and didn’t really question it until now

According to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/ACPocketCamp/comments/8d8pub/the_12hour_period_for_the_fortune_cookies/ Fortune cookies have a 12-hour rotation period the same way the quarry has a 3-hour rotation period. If you choose not to buy immediately and wait for the first 12 hours, the market’ll refresh with new cookies. Apparently. Otherwise you have to wait for the next day to see new stock. Again, I have no idea if I came across an old thread and they changed this in an update, but I can believe it. I don’t know if anyone’s tested it recently…?
