Your bathroom should be a spa..

Even though we can’t all have the dream shower with 5 heads and a river rock embedded floor and perfect teak walls with a built-in steam shower that smells like eucalyptus..

We can pretend we have that. 

Why shouldn’t we focus more on the most sacred room in the house? After all it’s the first place we go when we wake up and the last place before we fall asleep. It’s where we get pretty, where we relax in a hot bath, where we lock ourselves when the world comes caving in on us (*well- that’s where I go..). It should be clean and inviting and an oasis of sorts. Adding spa-like touches are all you need. 

Here’s what I would invest in…

White high cotton count bath sheets. Not those nasty little bath towels that barely cover your body and are dripping wet after one use. They don’t cost that much more then the crap you already own. I just bought 2 Fieldcrest luxury bath sheets from Target that were only $19.99 each. It’s worth the extra $10. They can easily run up to $100 at high end stores. So I shop around first for these things. 

Spa bathrobes. OK…I know you’re thinking you won’t use it a lot- but this is where you’re wrong. I NEVER used a robe until a few months ago and now i think “WTF. Why didn’t this happen sooner? What is wrong with me?” My husband and I registered for robes for our wedding from pottery barn. They were around $100 each - worth every penny. We got ours monogrammed - which is super cheesy and can add to the spa look too!

Containers. WOW. It does make a difference. Just get matching glass containers. It’s not hard. Maybe upgrade to teak or stone or something glamorous like shiny brass…but do it!!!! Nobody feels good looking at a ripped open cotton swab container. 

River Rocks & Teak. 2 of the most common materials seen in spas. I’m not saying you have to remodel your bathroom. (If you do- these are gorgeous things to add into the design) They make most bathroom accessories out of teak now, especially floor mats and shower benches. A way to incorporate river rocks can be easy too. Just fill glass hurricanes with them and add a candle. It creates a romantic ambiance. Or place a few in your sink (trust me..it feels like a spa)

Bath products are super important. I love L'occitane shower oil and lotions in verbena and lavender. There are these Hydra eucalyptus shower bombs that create a steam shower atmosphere when the hot water hits the ball. It’s amazing. 

Cucumber water. (enough said)

Bring some life into your bathroom! Most people have a window in their master bath. There’s plenty of humidity in there too. Bringing in a split-leaf philodendron or a palm or some other tropical plant is tres glam and green!
