Joseph is a damn cultist and hereâs how he ties all of Dream Daddy together
***DREAM DADDY SPOILERS BELOW (like big time)***
Iâll try to cover everything.Â
So, Dream Daddy (a dad dating simulator) has been out long enough for people to have either achieved or seen screenshots of Josephâs âtrueâ ending; this ending reveals that Joseph is some sort of cultist or âdemonic entityâ. (I have not achieved this ending myself so all information about it is based off of posts revealing information about it).
The idea of this ending is that Joseph uses his job and family as a cover for who he truly is. His wife, Mary, may be an illusion or forced into their facade of a marriage, and it is theorized (based on in-game dialogue from the cult ending) that Josephâs children are really just fragments of his being split up and in the form of children, which would explain why none of his four kids even remotely resemble his wife.
The cult ending reveals that Josephâs goal is to feed off of the energy of single dadâs so that he may resurrect some sort of higher being or âEternal Kingâ. By means of his ulterior motive, Joseph has drawn several single dads all to the same place so that he may feed off of their energy simultaneously. After discovering this, some oft he dialogue from the dads becomes much more transparent - there are several instances where they praise the place that they live, or talk about moving there being one of the best decisions theyâd ever made.Â
Additionally, it is evidenced through the game files (which several people have opened to reveal the cult endingâs dialogue) that Joseph was the cause for the dads becoming single, via divorce, death, etc. (meaning Josephâs demonic intervention killed MCâs first partner before luring them and Amanda to cul-de-sac).
This also explains why no one can manage to get a true âgoodâ ending with Joseph. So far, the most common endings are the âbadâ ending (where Joseph decides to stay with Mary and offers to continue an affair with you) or the âneutralâ ending (Joseph still decides to stay with Mary but ends things with you in a more civil way I guess??). The reason no one can truly end up with Joseph is because he needs all of the dadâs to be single in order to feed off of their energy.Â
This information also puts a bittersweet twist to all endings with all dadâs, because it implies that any happy ending where you end up with  the dad of your dreams wonât last, since Joseph will intervene and break you two apart the same way he made all of the dads single.
As mentioned earlier, since not a lot of people actually achieved Josephâs true ending, most of the information about it came from opening game files. In the revealed dialogue of the cult ending, Mary finds you in a dungeon that Joseph had locked you in after youâd slept with him on the yacht and sets you free.Â
((some of you may have disliked mary when trying to get josephs good ending but shes legit MVP like pls respect this woman))
Later, we learn that you werenât in a dungeon at all, but rather some kind of mindscape Joseph had created (and referred to as âMargarita Zoneâ, hence the achievement name, âescape Margarita Zoneâ - kudos for creativity, DD developers), because we see Amanda after escaping with Mary, who explains that the yacht had sank and your body was found in the water.Â
Soon after, a detective will come in and explain that Joseph was on the run (I wonât delve into too many details with this interaction  because itâs a pretty interesting thing to read/experience yourself).
In the end, the entire game revolves around Josephâs ulterior motive to raise his Eternal King, and unless you achieve the cult ending, whatever ending you get with any other dad is destined to be destroyed after your happily ever after. The True Ending to the game is the cult ending, because it drives Joseph off and gives you the chance to return to your life and truly fall in love. (although, it couldnât be as simple as that, said the DD developers, because at the very end of the cult ending, you receive a snapshot of a postcard from Joseph drawing a heart in the sand that says âMiss Youâ. yikes)
Given this information, itâs hard to believe that it wasnât the developerâs initial intention to make Dream Daddy a game about fooling the protagonist into seducing dads while the true story line is with a cult leader who will destroy any happy ending you achieve to resurrect a demonic overlord.

- in Robertâs route, he mentions that he was once a part of a cult - the small tattoo on his hand matches the same symbol on the wall of the dungeon and also on the clock in Josephâs house, so itâs pretty safe to assume what fun house club robbie played in
- when trying to achieve the true/cult ending, your profile matters! (select profile question answers with joseph in mind)
- (not entirely related to the cult thing but) the walk mary home thing isnât a glitch? itâs an actual thing you can do. i.. i dont know how i just know its real (sheâs a sweetheart trust me i saw the screenshots)
- thereâs a theory floating around that the seven dads represent the seven deadly sins, based off of the fact that you can die in Brianâs route (i think its by trying to punch him bc ur a petty boy who loves rivalry and you fall to your death - downfall by pride, one of the sins). I guess this means you could die in all routes?
bonus BONUS info: I just realized Robertâs good ending is him declaring his feelings for you, but saying that you canât be together because he still has some emotional issues to work through. This is probably a cover, since he knows Joseph is a part of the cult he used to be involved in, and will try to break you two apart (possibly by killing one of you). This POOR DAMAGED MAN was trying to protect you Iâm.. i hate joseph
