Found the original drawing from my illustration for Draw The Line: Positive Political Actions comics anthology. Slightly rumpled, but I’m storing it under a drawing board with my laptop on top to try and straighten it out. It’s an A4 inked drawing without text, and there’s a little glue along the left edge of the paper where it was taken out of a sketchbook. I’m happy to sell this to raise funds for Choose Love if there’s any interest. Drop a bid in the comments below if so? 🤔 The finished version of this piece appears in “Draw the Line: Positive Political Actions” comics anothology. Crowdfunding for the book ends TODAY - go to https://unbound.com/books/draw-the-line/ to get your hands on a copy. All proceeds towards Choose Love to support their work with refugees. https://www.instagram.com/p/CFwvnjjAG9o/?igshid=1ev0qukrs44qz
Remember this drawing? The finished version can be found a little earlier on in my gallery. I drew it for “Draw The Line: Positive Political Actions Comics”, an anthology created to pool ideas for different political actions you can take when you’re feeling powerless. The anthology features this piece by me and work by many much more illustrious comics artists, each one illustrating a different political action. If you’re interested in getting a print copy of the book, there are 10 days left before the crowdfunder closes on 30th September: head over to https://unbound.com/books/draw-the-line/ to find out more :) Proceeds will be donated to Choose Love, who work with refugees. https://www.instagram.com/p/CFX4nRcguQE/?igshid=19s30iqfed3z1
Happy Birthday for yesterday, @maryburgers ! ❤❤❤ I know we made some murmurs about how I should make an album cover for you, but don't worry, this isn't it! I just wanted to break the ice on getting used to drawing you (only...2 years into our relationship?? Better late than never...) I've said before that you're so beautiful that I always hestitate to draw you because I'm worried that either it won't look as gorgeous as you do in real life, or that peole will just think I've drawn a cartoon of a beautiful woman -- somewhere between Jessica Rabbit and a Disney princess, all dollfaced curves and long eyelashes. The first time I tried, I panicked, drew a simple cartoon in felt tip pens, and decided to leave it at that. Anyone who's seen the original photograph that this drawing is based on can see that the real Mary has larger eyes, fuller lips and a sweeter expression. I was trying something with soft coloured pencils in the style of an artist I admire, @loukoumh , and it didn't quite work out. But that's okay. There will be other drawings. I certainly have plenty of source material 📸 https://www.instagram.com/p/CAuzESPADoS/?igshid=1anz7jyoxo18
Cover that I illustrated for an issue of "What's The Time, Mrs. Woolf?", a 'zine put together by the amazing @sarahkfogg and me back in the day. This artwork is an old favourite that I always wanted to turn into merch or a fabric print or something. Somehow I usually draw things with a very soft, sketchy finish, so it's unusual for me to produce anything this bold and graphical, (and with a repeat pattern, too! I had so much time to be exploratory back in those days. Somebody - was it @karriefransman ? - once said of my portfolio that you couldn't tell that all of the pieces were by the same person. Which I saw at the time as an achievement, but it's also a drawback because having a cohesive visual style makes you marketable. Not that I mind much about being marketable these days. It's taken the best part of a decade to get enough distance from my Illlustration degree to realise that making any kind of money - yet alone a living - from it just may not be for me, and that's okay. I just don't have an ounce of hustle - never have, even when I tried hard to.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAEOWcfgSln/?igshid=1q8r9d0wqh8bo

I keep getting distracted from studying by never-ending clearout. Does anybody want this page of old sketches? They're from a tattoo-themed life-drawing class and have been sitting under my drawing board for the last couple of years, but now I think they need a new home. A3. HMU if you would like?? Some drawings?? By me? (at Museum of London) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bza8FqkgSuf/?igshid=1xypqww7z9t73

Bexx's un-birthday xx
My mum turned Nintendo 64 this week! (Quick card featuring her with the favourite child...I couldn't get it to lie flat, so it looks even wonkier here than it does in real life.)
Here’s something I made earlier in this year for a collaborative comics project called Draw The Line: Positive Political Actions.
Each artist was assigned a different political action to illustrate. Mine was “Hold an Art Auction: Ask your artist friends to donate a piece of work, then sell it in a live auction or online, to raise money for a cause that needs it.”
(I was thinking that not everybody has ‘artist friends’, so I interpreted it a bit broadly to include a variety of different creatives who can put their skills towards a fundraising auction - such as bakers, veg growers, and musicians...)
The project has been shortlisted for Broken Frontier’s Award for the Best Webcomic of 2017! Vote for us here.
@morifurr 's birthday has rolled around again! Here's last year's birthday card, which I forgot to share at the time!
Looks like Bartkira is winding to a close! Here’s something I made for the cover of Vol. 5 that I never sent in...
(If you haven’t heard of it, Bartkira is the largest collaborative-indie-comics-fan-project in the world, featuring all 1000+ pages of Katsuhiro Otomo’s classic sci-fi manga, Akira, redrawn with Simpsons characters. Read it all for free at Bartkira.com ! )...
Reposting to see if the quality's a bit better in a less zoomed-in version! @-@ (found this sketch that I drew of Stefan in the pub at his leaving do last year...)
