As the paper was snatched from him, Seth just blinked, a little too tired to react any more than that. Her enthusiasm wasnât really helping his slight headache, but he knew he only had himself to blame for that. âAh⊠right. Iâve been⊠itâs been a long couple of weeks.â Running a hand over his face tiredly, he made another attempt at a smile. âPretty much. It wasnât much of a party though, unless weâre counting pity parties, but those are usually one man events.â
Lilyâs smile faded considerably as Seth began to speak, the realization that he wasnât as happy to see her as she was him becoming more apparent. âOh, rightâ she answered, trying her best not to sound too disheartened. As much as she might have wanted to ask more questions about his long couple of weeks, there was something stopping her. Whether it was her respect for his privacy or her own worries of pushing people away, she wasnât sure but she swiftly jumped on the topic of hangovers instead. âAre you joking? Pity parties are my favorite kind of party. Do you want to talk about the reason you threw yourself a pity part or should we just talk about the fact that I might have brain damage from that fall?â she asked, offering up her second joke suggestion in an attempt to let him know there wasnât any pressure meant.Â
