On 29th July 2017, Lily Special Events returned to the beautiful Scottish wedding venue, Ross Priory to transform the ground floor with beautiful, award winning, wedding decor. This spectacular venue is situated on the banks of Loch Lomond, only 30 minutes from Glasgow city centre. This early 19th Century country house is secluded and has wonderful views of the loch, Ben Lomond and surrounding hills.

We dressed the venue for the lovely Cheryl and Yannick’s wedding in a combination of white, lilac and silver. Their colour scheme complimented the interior colour scheme perfectly.

Lily Special Events transform Ross Priory, Loch Lomond, Scotland, with beautiful wedding venue decor On 29th July 2017, Lily Special Events returned to the beautiful Scottish wedding venue, Ross Priory…

Last month, here at Lily Special Events, we ran a competition to win £250 of wedding venue decor. Our entrants were asked to share their proposal stories and describe how they got engaged or popped the question… Will You Marry Me.

We read so many beautiful stories and our news feed was bursting with happiness and romance. So we wanted to keep the good vibes going by sharing a select few stories, of course, we couldn’t narrow it down, so we asked our entrants to volunteer to be featured in our article. Here are the couple’s perfect moments, when they said YES!

‘We got engaged in New York (a Valentine’s surprise booking) he popped the question on the Brooklyn Bridge’, Robyn Langton shared. Doesn’t that sounds amazing!

The lovely Natalie McNaughton shared her story, which started with her fiance Allan booking a surprise trip to Bali, a place that had been on their bucket list. During their trip, they visited the breathtaking Tegenungan Waterfall, where they met their “tour guide” Gus. Unbeknown to Natalie, Gus was in fact a local photographer, who Allan had contacted and arranged to come along and capture the special moment. With the waterfall behind them, Allan took Natalie’s hand, got down and one knee and asked her to marry him. On reflection Natalie described it as ‘the most magical moment ever and I didn’t expect it in the slightest!’. Clair Lang described that on Christmas day, her fiancé got down on one knee in amongst the wrapping paper and told her that she had missed a present. Clair explained ‘It turned out it was him proposing to me’. We just love a Christmas proposal!

Amy Quinn described that on their holiday in Cyprus after watching the sunset, on a beach line pathway, her fiance popped the question. She added ‘I love the way he did though as my ring is the reflection of the sunset on water’. How beautiful!

‘My fiancé and step son to be, proposed on my 30th birthday in front of our family’, explained Michelle Mc. Her 3 year old step son held the ring and he asked if she would marry his daddy, with her fiancé behind down him on 1 knee. This is so sweet!

Erin Neil shared that her fiancé took her to Edinburgh for 2 nights and surprised her with roses in their hotel room when they arrived. They spent the evening chatting and enjoying the view of the castle from their room. The next day, they walked to the highest point of the castle where Erin’s now fiance asked a couple to take a photograph of them, he looked at the photo and said let’s get another one and asked another couple. This time he went down on one knee and the couple caught it in a photo! Erin said ‘I cried so much I was so surprised!’ 2 months later they found out they were expecting a baby. Harvey is 5 months old now and the happy couple get married in Autumn 2019. And yes, that is the photograph of them. How lovely!

Victoria Finlay-Kerr described coming home from work to a trail of candles on either side of the hall leading into the living and then a heart of candles with a vase of red roses and a massive bar of chocolate. Victoria wrote ‘ I turned around to speak to him to find him in shirt and trousers down on one knee. Apparently been planning it for months and had got permission from my parents’. How romantic!

Heather Sokolov shared ‘My partner Frank organised a surprise party for my 30th all our friends were sitting waiting in the Torrance Hotel to surprise me. As we Sat down to a lovely meal Frank clinked his glass and got down on one knee and proposed to me with a beautiful ring. It was such an emotional day and it was so lovely to have shared such a special moment with all our friends and family’. Just love this!

Kat Thompson explained that her fiance Brian, took them to New York for a holiday they had wanted since they met. ‘He proposed on the rooftop of our hotel in Queens overlooking the new york skyline at night. Apart from the birth of our baby boy it was the most magical and unforgettable night of our lives’. Aw this sounds amazing!

Karen Gibson shared, ‘my fiance asked me to marry him on a surprise trip to Paris for my birthday. On a beautiful cruise down the river Seine as we were passing Notre dam, he popped the question’. How beautiful does that sound!

Elizabeth MInally shared that her fiance, Craig Callery asked her to marry him on Christmas morning. She was shocked to look out the window and see a banner made from balloons and family photographs. Elizabeth was delighted that her daughter was involved. Their wedding is now booked and Elizabeth can’t wait to become Mrs C! What a lovely surprise!

On their holiday to Tenerife, Chenille Philips and her fiance drove up the beautiful Mount Teide. When Chenille turned around from looking at the amazing views she was presented with an engraved silver box by her now fiance and asked ‘will you marry me?’. She described that ‘it was meant to be and so are we!’. Eeee how amazing!

12 of the Best Wedding Proposals you’ve Ever Read Last month, here at Lily Special Events, we ran a competition to win £250 of wedding venue decor.

Lily Special Events dressed this unique wedding venue for the lovely couple, Elizabeth and Stuart, in September 2017 using a wide range of hire products from their collection of wedding venue decor. The ceremony took place in ‘Scotland’s Secret Chapel’ which is located within the grounds of the house. It is thought to date back to the 13th century and features a round stone ceiling, stain glass window and a standing cross.

Old Churches House, once a row of 18th century cottages, is the perfect setting for any couple getting married in Scotland. Located in the quaint village area of Dunblane, on Cathedral Square, it makes a fantastic and very special wedding venue.

Lily Special Events provided subtle wedding decorations for the ceremony, including starry lights created by fairy lights and led tealights, placed throughout the bare stone walls, complimenting the endearing feel of this building. The entrance door to the cathedral was also dressed by Lily Special Events with a large ivory organza bow.

The meal reception took place in the main part of Old Churches House which was elegantly decorated too in the bride and groom’s choice of decor. Lily Special Events provided white chair covers, pale blue organza bows and ivy detail for the chairs.

The table decor, also provided by Lily Special Events, included matching organza table runners, large vintage lantern centrepieces, complete with pillar candles and ivy, pale blue and ivory roses and gypsophila around the base. The top table was decorated to match the guest tables with the addition of a beautiful floral arrangement provided by the couple’s florist. The bride and groom had sourced beautiful personalised napkins, with their names and wedding date printed, as well as lovely stationery and flowers. The wedding was absolutely stunning and it was such a pleasure to work with this lovely couple. We wish you all the very best for a long and happy future together!

The Scottish wedding and events decor company, Lily Special Events have dressed Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow for several events, most recently in the summer when they decorated the venue for the wedding reception of Gemma and Stephen. For this occasion, Lily Special Events provided crisp white chair covers, frothy organza bows complete with pale pink silk rose detail on each chair. The venue decor was complete with candelabra centrepieces decorated by a very talented local florist. In the summer of 2017, Lily Special Events returned to the beautiful Kintyre peninsula to dress the wedding of Alison and Kenneth. The transformation of the venues was created using a wide range of hire products including chair covers, centrepieces, table decor, aisle decor and other rental products.

The ceremony took place in the newly renovated Campbeltown Town Hall. This little gem dates back to 1760 and is perfectly positioned in the heart of the town. If you haven’t been to this part of the country, we would highly recommend a visit!

The grand hall with it’s neutral decor, high ceilings, large windows and mood lighting, is the perfect space for a wedding. We added to this venue with our white chair covers, pale silver organza bows, white aisle runner, scatter petals and potted bay trees decorated with fairy lights and ribbon.

After the ceremony, the guests were then taken out into the countryside for the wedding reception at the unique Machrihanish Airbase. The former Royal Air Force station makes an unforgettable location for your special day.

We decorated the main event space with our white chair covers and pale silver organza bows, which completely transformed the room. We dressed the tables with matching pale silver organza table runners, mirror plates, large hurricane vases with ivory petals and tall pillar candles and complete the table decor with tealight holders with candles. The top table was dressed to match, using our mini hurricane vases, table runners, tealight holders with candles and our vintage white Mr and Mrs sign. The couple added their own personal touch throughout the venue with beautiful little details and one in particular which stood out was the floor standing table plan tree. The venue looked as beautiful as it’s surroundings.

During our time in Kintyre, we stayed at the highly recommended Argyll Hotel, which is situated on the beach of Bellochantuy. The rooms are lovely and homely, the owners could not make you feel more welcome, not to mention their food being delicious! With the hotel being dog friendly, we took our springer spaniel, Millie, along with us. She loved running wild on the sand and getting acquainted with the inhouse dalmations. It was the perfect location for us travelling to and from the wedding venues. During our spare time, we enjoyed long walks along the beach and admiring the stunning sunset from the hotel’s conservatory.

As well as the seaside, Kintyre offers beautiful countryside. It’s fantastic to spend some time in nature. We loved relaxing when we weren’t busy transforming venues and on wedding duties. We can’t wait to return next year!

This popular museum is located on Argyle Street, in the West End of Glasgow on the banks of the river clyde. Not only is it home to ancient artifacts, but the building itself is steeped in history. Both the interior and exterior are lit with colourful uplighters and the grand entrance hall, where the event took place, is absolutely magnificent. This makes the perfect space to hold any large event.

On 29th July 2017, Lily Special Events returned to dress the beautiful Scottish wedding venue, Ross Priory. The ceremony room, positioned at the front of the building features large windows, nice high ceilings, wooden floor and a fireplace. We dressed the chairs in our white chair covers and alternated organza bows in lilac and silver. The layout of the room was complete with our white aisle runner, silver and lilac scatter petals and potted bay trees which are decorated with fairy lights and ribbon.

The rooms for the meal feature rectangle tables in a sociable layout making it perfect for the top table to chat to guests. We ran silver table runners along the centre of each table and placed mirror plates in the middle for the fishbowl centrepieces to sit on. The top table decor included a vintage wooden Mr and Mrs sign, centrepieces, scatter petals and our large frosted tealight holders.

We thoroughly enjoyed dressing this beautiful venue and wish the lovely couple a long and happy future together. Congratulations again Mr and Mrs Kremer!
