ravennachastain:
“Oh, for bloody’s sake,” Ravenna unlocked the door with the flick of her wrist, pushing it open to reveal the blonde just as she was accustomed to seeing: injured and bruised by her brother. “So, we’re going to pretend you weren’t forced to mutilate yourself by a necromancer?” She dropped her head and sighed, eyes landing on Lily again, “Lily, help me stop him and I promise, I will do everything in my power to break the connection.”
Lily didn’t even flinch when Ravenna barged into the room, she was used to the lack of privacy – there was none when you were what she was. Ravenna’s words brought an inferno of Lily’s anger with it. She wasn’t an angry person, there was no room with all the pain and loathing. Except Ravenna’s words ripped into the nerve and shredded it. “Pretend?” She hissed, pushing herself shaking to her feet. “You think I’m pretending like it never happened? No Ravenna – you know just how well accustomed to mutilation I’ve become. Then again, you’ve always had a penchant for ignoring issues that don’t impact your precious life.” Lily kicked off her sock and pointed at her toes, the nails all missing. “Five days ago he made me pull them out with my own fingers—Oh wait, how about—” Lily pulled her shirt open to reveal a line of jagged and ugly stitched. “Or a week ago when he made me perform surgery on myself to remove my spleen. You don’t need that when you’re dead.” Lily shook her head and pushed past Ravenna and into the hospital bedroom, heading toward the bag Dante let her bring with her. “That’s a joke Ravenna – you’re a joke. We both know you can’t stop him or this. There’s no breaking the connection. There’s only killing him and you will never do that.”
