Winter
Winter is always a time of ... well. clears throat I’ve lived long enough now to know the pattern. Things fall apart in winter, uxaku-xaku leaves dying off the tree, littering the yard and needing to be swept up every morning. Same-same but different from jacaranda petals in spring. Correlation doesn’t always equal causation of course, but I’m telling you, there’s something there because why is winter always such shyte?! Things usually pick up around my birthday, though, so I’ve learned to take it all in stride.
What is life but ups and downs, after all? I have perimenopausal brain-fog and stoner memory-loss so don’t ask me for examples.
If you’re into seasonal living, maybe you’ve noticed similar patterns in your own life. Or even if you’re not into seasonal living. Winter is for resting - very much no-really-I’m-fine-just-dying-inside kinda resting. And for introspection. Self re-calibration, you might say, because it’s too cold to be up to shenanigans in the streets, right? Or do I need to get out more? I also think of winter as a sort-of pre-planting season. It’s not just about hibernating and being out of commission for the duration, think about it as going deep within, gathering your power to burst forth come glorious spring. You with me?
Of course, some still get excited for winter because it’s cuffing season. In that case I don’t know what to tell you except grow the fuck up.
It’s also...July. And Leo Season is coming
The southern hemisphere zodiac says that’s Aquarius?!
After being a sun-child all my life, the idea of Aquarius being my sign doesn’t resonate. That may be because I still know nothing about Aquarius though so …
I hate winter. The past couple of years have been much easier (because self-awareness), so easy in fact that I offered to give my UV lamp to soneone wintering in Cape Town. They asked why I would give it away as if winter would never come again, … and you know what?
They were right. In my defence, that summer in Cape Town did feel like winter would never come again. oh waily waily
Ha.
Because my birthday falls in this season of deep thinking and self-shaming and future- as well as revenge-planning (introspection, just like I said), and because I’ve been doing all of that and more besides, I have thoughts.
I’ve been finding myself looking at women a little...differently, lately.
Listen. I love women. Hard. But...I’m also over y’all because I fucked up and started paying attention. Proper, focused attention. It’s rather unpretty out there. What are you all doing?!
