Le Jardin d’Eden dress by Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014.

Renaissance art meets baroque needlework in this haute couture dress, which took just over 2,000 hours to stitch by hand. Inspired by the painting Adam and Eve by Lucas Cranach created in 1526, the dress depicts one of the most famous biblical scenes using tulle and magical embroidery. Enchanting details are the premise of this piece. Gilded leaves hug the breasts, arms and collar while pheasant feathers are stitched into the bark of the tree. Ethereal animals and budding flowers surround the naive couple, capturing Valentino's innocently romanticized aesthetic perfectly.
