this guy is Alex, hero name TBD (Projectile Devil?)
goes to Midtown High and was a relatively regular student aside the fact they could hear other people's thoughts until the rest of Spider Man's teenaged team joined Midtown High
befriended Danny and Peter by getting saved from being nearly thrown into a locker by Flash Thompson, and Danny being curious about Alex and going out of his way to talk to them.
Alex develops a small crush on Danny after being saved, and kinda tries their best to just be regular friends despite knowing Danny, Peter and the rest of their group are secretly super heroes protecting New York because they can hear their thoughts so its not surprising at one point Alex overhears them talking about being heroes. Accidentally lets it slips they know, Alex gets interrogated, but everyone kinda becomes chill since Alex has no reason to tell anyone anyways nor do they make their ability obvious. However, word gets to S.H.I.E.L.D. and Alex ends up being recruited as a spy, though they initially reject the offer until they accidentally start spying on a suspicious group of people because they got curious about something.
Alex doesn't start developing the rest of their abilities until later, after trying to meditate with Danny and something scares them into being unable to focus or calm down while meditating. eventually, spiraling during the week and turning into a weird demon thing that could manipulate/dig into people's thoughts and projecting their own. even claws and everything, but eventually they calm down and become able to control themselves. then S.H.I.E.L.D. decides to recruit them as a fellow hero alongside the rest of the teenaged group, and yeah!
extra stuff:
they're enby, however, not very open about it. only Sam and Danny know since Alex found himself being able to open up to those two about it (I'll talk about their relationship with Sam later). because of that, and their androgynous look, everyone gets confused on how to refer to Alex, and everyone assumes different things. If anyone asked Alex however, they'd tell them they're a boy.
Sam and Alex get along with similar interests, but Sam does get on Alex's nerves, with them actually kind of scaring Sam when ticked off. they have a "annoyer" x "annoyed" dynamic and its pretty funny
Alex is very conflicted with their crush on Danny. on one hand, he's handsome and cool and pretty and interesting and wise, on the other, he's likely going to be unable to reciprocate since he literally has to return to K'un-Lun in like a year or so. also, Danny see's Alex as a dude, he's likely not going to be into him, right? lots of things to consider
after being recruited as a spy, Alex gets their own form of those communication watches, with several additions to it. it's a little thicker than the regular "watches" so it can hold projectiles and a sort of grappling hook thingy, and they keep it as they become a hero. hence "Projectile" in the name (if I choose to keep it), along with their ability to project thoughts into others. (ignore i forgot to sketch the watch)
that weird demon thing they are comes from their dad's side, and skips generations. their grandpa had it, dad didnt, now they do. the demon if u couldnt tell is kinda supposed to be like... the depressing, negative voice in your head. as a real monster thing. however, alex tries to use it for good instead! and by for good, mostly to manipulate bad guy opponents into using a different move they can jeopardize or predict their next moves. occasionally they'll use it to project better thoughts for people!

still struggling with a mask design... oughhghh if anyone's got any ideas pls throw them my way... i *did* think of like, a japanese oni mask, but he isnt japanese plus i think it would be too much for me LOL... my other idea is maybe further adjusting the headphones (its not on the first photo bc i forgot but I added a knob so they can block out or tune into ppl's thoughts!) and adding a visor with it, like Power Man's

So I can only assume the Laxus-centered story will be revisiting the Harvest Festival?
After the BoFT… there never really got to do another Harvest Festival or Fantasia Parade… I wonder if this will bring back guilt and regret for Laxus and the Raijinshuu?? Cause, y’know… last time they tried hurt everyone and take over the guild.
It’s been so long since then and they’ve all grown as characters… but this will probably be a sore spot for all of them. Though, especially Laxus, if I had to guess.
Gah! I swear the Raijinshuu better play a big part in this!!! This could be so great for their characters and a full development from the original Battle of Fairy Tail years ago!! I’m so excited!
I just finished reading kagurabachi, so Chiaki and Shiba in particular are fresh on my mind. The imminent doomed childhood friends to lovers dynamic upcoming for Kunishige and Chiaki aside, just the doomed childhood friends dynamic alone of her and Shiba have got me so hooked.
Like. Imagine that you are Chiaki. Imagine this: yours is the power of foresight, and you were already warned about the upcoming talks. You were warned of the hostility, but not the brutality. Your childhood friend is on the team that will head there, surely your powers will allow you to watch over him, surely you would be warned if he were to be at risk, surely you will be able of knowing that he is safe. Surely you have given enough of yourself to your power that for once in your life your power will reciprocate. But it doesn't, and it's not enough, it will never be enough - your power and your title will consume everything that you are until there is nothing about the girl who used to play out in the streets with her friends left, and it is too late to stop it from happening. It has always been too late. Your death sentence has been sent through your friend, but his half-dead body has always been the true message.
Then there's Shiba: you have experienced both the most humiliating defeat and the most horrifying massacre in your life, and that you have been denied your comrades' fate is only a warning, not a mercy. You now lie helpless and unmoving at your enemy's feet and they name your childhood friend as wergild for a thousand year old feud - and this is a message that you are expected to relay. Your mouth is supposed to repeat these words, supposed to state that the decrepit king wants to keep her as a brooding mare. A fate worse than hell, a death that will keep on taking from her. HM: My editors are present in the room, so I’m not quite sure what I’m allowed to say… (laughter). The next mini-series will be centered on Laxus. The story is going to be stunning, I hope you’ll like it.

And I assume this means Laxus is the "surprising character" that Hiro Mashima mentioned back in April:
"There will also be a short, concentrated serialization. It’s a story focusing on a surprising character, but Natsu and the others will still be causing plenty of chaos."
I've also seen it translated as: "a story focusing on some unexpected characters," which only adds to my delusional hope that the Raijinshuu will actually get to play a bigger role for this story, but it’s probably just a mistranslation.
I’m going to ramble a bit here, but I still really really hope it will be about Laxus AND the Raijinshuu. I know Mashima said it was centered around Laxus, but I can’t imagine the Raijinshuu not being involved in some way. (It feels wrong to even consider them not being included in a Laxus story, but you never know with how they’ve been treated lately 😖.)
Honestly... It's the only reason I'm scared to get my hopes up. I'm still super excited about it, don't get me wrong! But I've also been disappointed way too many times with how they've been handled throughout the series and just how often they seem to be forgotten about. And I know I’m not the only one.
But… I really want to see Bickslow, Freed, and Evergreen again. I want to see them actually play a role in the story instead of being single-panel background gags. They don’t need to be the main focus, but I look forward to the possibility of them getting any kind of attention after all this time. And I’d love to see Hiro Mashima draw them again!
It is a mini-series, so I guess their role in the story also depends on how many chapters Mashima plans on writing. If it's around the same length as the Mashima HERO'S manga, which is 10 chapters, I think they have a good chance to be included!
And for those curious, the synopsis for the short-serializations is: "The summer festival will stir up new trouble for Natsu and his friends!!" It sounds really interesting, which makes me even more excited and curious for how Laxus (and hopefully the Raijinshuu 🤞) will be involved and what direction the story will go! It's supposed to start releasing sometime around Late July/August, which is only a few months away! So we’ll just have to wait and see~!
