Time to properly introduce Sovi (and Cham)!! 🥰

I've got one or two headcanons in here that I think vibe with a decent chunk of the fandom (aside from my silly little shipping) but if you don't agree that's also cool and I love you anyway

Sovi [saw-vee] is a physical Hearthian in all ways; they hug it out through good and bad, they wrestle, and they prefer physical media over computers. They didn't discover their ship computer looped with them for some time because of this. Since they're better attuned to physical communication, it can take a few seconds too long for spoken words to click, especially if they aren't expecting the news or question.

Sovi imprinted on Slate, then Hornfels, and spent their childhood very close with both. It was a bonus that Sovi is a mathematical savant and could do their calculations for them from an early age. They learned the basics of engineering and astrophysics much younger than most Hearthians because of their parents. If not for the loops, their career would've been hopping planet to planet taking any data they could find, then bringing it back to Hornfels and processing it together.

Sovi and Gabbro are practically hatchlinghood sweethearts; they got together shortly after Sovi, the younger of the two, became an adult. Gabbro is the only reason Sovi can stay still for longer than 5 minutes and a big part of why they understand quantum mechanics well enough to eventually find Solanum. Riebeck is a new partner of Sovi's, having become an item just a few short weeks before Sovi's first solo launch. Rie was the catalyst to making the Nomai translation tool, though Hal was a big part of why the project started too.

her name is Diana Voltair but she only answers to Di (pronounced: die). she's 16 just a wee baby. her shirt is not monster high lol i just asked my fiance for a decal to put on her and they said "a skull with a bow" so that's what i drew. maybe she's a fan of bitchthing? HA

she mixes music digitally from samples & likes to make heavier stuff with hard beats and a bunch of random bits (including stuff she makes Dex play and sing for her, and occasionally recordings of him and her just talking). she doesn't have a huge audience yet, but she's determined to gain her following without tapping into Dex's or Dead as Disco's fame. her "stage" name is Deadly Voltage :] (get it.... die voltair... im so funny....)

Dex is a pretty private guy and keeps his personal and professional lives separate. So imagine Dead as Disco's surprise when he arrives to a rehearsal meetup with a timid little teenaged girl in tow and sets her down at a table in the Encore with a tiny laptop and some homework.

He explains there was a break-in the night before - they're both fine - and she's scared to be home alone right now, so she'll be minding her own business in the corner until further notice.

Charlie says back up, you have a sister who lives with you?

Dex replies yes; their parents passed about a year ago, so he took her in. Is tonight going to be about his personal life or are they going to rehearse?

Eventually (over the course of several meetups), the band all introduce themselves and start getting to know the kid. She enjoys coming along, now, and she's not so shy anymore. She even gets to come to a couple shows that aren't in bars or clubs; front row seat and full backstage access, on the condition that she wears earplugs!! At Dex's firm demand. :]

Hemlock starts giving her rides home from school on his big bulky motorcycle & Arora does her nails (always pure black!). Charlie teaches her some moves and she teaches him how to hardstyle shuffle, though it doesn't look as cool without loose pant legs to hide the footwork. Prophet isn't as personal with his affection, but he strong-arms (or bribes) the owner of Dex & Di's building to hire security and invest in a camera system. She's become part of the family, now. <3

It's set pre-death, and probably exists without Charlie dying at all tbh.

So far all I really have is that Charlie & Dex wake up in another, similar world (isekai style) about 2 days before the others (because discomachine) and they as a group and as individuals have to navigate a society where everyone has always had wings. Airlanes are marked for travel around the city, parks are both on the ground and cordoned off in the sky, everything is a little bigger and designed a little differently to accommodate wings and flying, AND on top of this, they don't automatically know how to fly or even move normally with this extra weight on their backs.

They all lost their jackets except Rori, whose jacket IS her shirt, so whatever lol, and Dex, who has actually GAINED clothes from canon (but. like. he obviously wore clothes before modding up. right?... right??)
