It was a website that I think Burger King had toys for at one point and the whole website had a theme for kids to be safe on the World Wide Web and the way they had it set up was like the Wild West where the dangers were harder to spot because no one really knew what they would all be 😅 they had like mini games where you had to pick out the “outlaw” or run away from them there were like 6 or 7 good characters but the rest were the “outlaws” that were trying to steal your identity or your credit cards or they might come kidnap you

I am not going to speculate what happened in Portland. What I know is that Andy Ngo called an annual civil rights protest that was dedicating this particular event to recently slain victims of the police an “Antifa” get together and spread information about for two weeks among his Fascist peers. Then a man confronted protesters with a gun. He then fired on 4 unarmed women and men, killing one immediately. Another protester then returned the fire, putting down the assailant. That protester turned himself and his assault rifle to the police. He is expected to be released and have all of his initial charges dropped. The police,however, is being uncharacteristically mum on the issue because they have yet to release any information on the mass shooter in over 24 hours other than he is a homeowner which is leading to speculation that the police are scrubbing any possible affiliation to right wing ties or posts about wanting to incite violence against protesters. Which the police have done before.

To people wondering why the protesters aren’t cooperating with police: they have. Woman handed her GoPro to the police detailing exactly what happened. And also Portland Police have garnered little trust with the community and this goes beyond the George Floyd Uprisings. With the mayor publicly calling for protesters in the city to get hurt, let’s just say that cooperation from protesters being hard is warranted. So don’t inquire why a bunch of anarchists and socialists are absolutely giddy because they do not trust them.

[translation: We were unarmed traffic safety volunteers who weren’t with any protestors. Four women trying to de-escalate & he unloaded a 45 into us because he didn’t like being asked to leave and stop calling us terrorist c*nts. We were in high vis and dresses. He murdered a disabled woman. My GoPro will substantiate this. They took it as evidence. It was attached to my motorcycle helmet as I watched my friend die. I got the whole thing. Do not believe PPB press releases or the statements of mass murderers.

Leave us in peace. I will never recover from being covered in my friend’s blood as I held her face while street medics scrambled to remove my clothes and plug my own bullet holes.

a lot of people are misunderstanding this post. minors arent taking away your spaces. the internet is not being made safer for children, it is being sanitised for advertisers.

When I was a kid, “barbie.com” looked like this

But now, if you type “Barbie.com” you’re taken immediately to Mattel’s online shop, surrounded by nothing but “shop now” links and toy collections.

Disney channel’s website is now “Disneynow.com” which still has games and shows appropriate for kids, but is aimed towards a younger audience as it combines Disney Jr and Disney Channel properties, and the look of the entire site is very juvenile and not very appealing to kids in the tween and young teen demographics.

Nick.com has been similarly streamlined and is focused primarily on streaming its shows, and the only games still left are 10 apps that can’t be played on browser.

Kid-friendly sites like icarly.com, Poptropica, Club Penguin, Neopets, Webkinz etc used to be insanely relevant and popular spaces built for kids and tweens.

Now, kids are being funneled into less moderated, more exploitative, and more public spaces like Roblox (its dangerous and exploitative nature exposed in these videos from People Make Games: (x) (x)), Fortnite (known for its gambling and microtransaction issues), and social media sites like TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter.

My elementary aged cousins spend their time on Roblox, YouTube, and some less than reputable game sites that are full of ads and stolen/reposted/reskinned games. My sister was on Musically/Tiktok and Twitter in middle school. They don’t have the same options for having fun online that I did when I was a kid, especially not when they get too old for nickjr and disneynow.

The internet has been condensed into about 5 popular sites that are full of ads, and it’s not fair to anyone.
