Safely Back in Conwy
We slipped Beaumaris at 08.00 to make the short passage back home into Conwy Marina before it closed at 10.00, the weather deteriorating as we went. We gorged ourselves on bacon butties and tea made with proper milk 😀 Tying up in the rain- now the big clean up must begin!
Beaumaris
Having met up with Robert and Lynda on their boat at Menai Bridge we successfully tied up on the jetty in an unforecast blast of force 6 and ran to the nearest pub!!! Lynda and Robert had kindly bought us some milk, bread and bacon so we could eat again. Wonderful to be back on dry land!!!!

Through the Swellies and under the bridge (it always looks as if we won’t fit!) with the Balmoral hard on our heels.
We were going to go to Menai Bridge but have just learned that no one can tie up on the pontoon there as the Balmoral is due in, is she following us or are we following her??? So, plan B, Beaumaris- fingers crossed because I don't think we can hack another night on anchor ⚓️ Currently wafting up the Menai straights at a cool 8/9 knots !

Another Sleepless Night
We the wind changed direction and brought a swell straight into the bay so we rocked and bobbed around all night. Rather than sit it out we took the decision to move in to Pilots Cove to be in position as Caernafon Bar opened. It was the right decision! Beautiful sunshine, a curious seal and beautiful scenery.
Leaving Fishguard (at last!)
The weather had calmed right down by the time we wanted to leave. 07.30 we left Fishguard (hurrah hurrah!!!) and still married! Destination Porth Dinllaen 61 nautical miles away. A lively sea but the wind and tide were both with us (unheard of!) we had halliards wrapped round light fittings, spinnaker poles snagged in the pushpit wiring, main halliard and topping lift twisted - which is technically impossible but happened anyway.... if it could go wrong it did go wrong! Many trips to the mast later we arrived at Porth Dinllaen at 18.00 ready to dine on the remnants of the galley supplies. I have to say this anchoring business has tested my culinary skills. Still , we have beer and chocolate (just don't tell the Skipper where 😉)
How this got in and safely tied up in the weather we had I don't know but it did! And then it left again (leaving its wake) and came back again in the evening.
Fishguard.......
3 long nights anchored at Fishguard, unable to get off the boat due to raging seas and force 8 winds with no internet and minimal phone service. The beer supplies are holding out but the milk is an issue! I have offered to stick to prosecco to ensure the Skipper always has milk for his coffee ??? The harbour master sent the RNLI rib out to all of the boats in the harbour and told us we could move in against the breakwater which normally would not be allowed, so very grateful! Living the dream ......

Milford Haven to Fishguard
Yesterday I was concerned about sunburn, today it was hypothermia- what a difference a day makes! We cast off our mooring in Dale at 08.00 to make Jack Sound by high water slack. It rained and it poured. No dolphins but loads of puffins. Through chattering teeth l enquired how long it might be until we reached Fishguard. "Don't worry my love, we will be there soon" It has since dawned on me that "soon" is a nautical term meaning anytime in the next 6 hours ...........
It was so much more spectacular in real life!
Penarth to Milford Haven (way to far!!!)
We slipped Penarth at 08.45 to take the 09.00 lock out of Cardiff. Out of the muddy water of the Bristol Channel and on to - well I was told we were restricted to 6 hour sails as the tides in the Bristol Channel are so strong that you have to take the flood going in and the ebb going out. We arrived in Milford Haven at just after 10pm - some ebb !!! The dress code for this morning was shorts and tee shirt, wow how things can change! Full waterproofs by Milford Haven!!! At least we didn't get shot crossing the firing ranges or even told off by the guard boats (like we did last year). There was a full display from the dolphins which kept my spirits up sufficiently to prevent me from jumping overboard, and an amazing sunset and rainbow 🌈, neither of which photograph to do them justice!
Penarth
We crossed the Cardiff basin from the city over to Penarth (Quay Marinas so no birthing fee 😀). Lovely, helpful staff! We set out into the town to find some provisions- bus there, taxi back then dinner at the Restaurant on the Marina "Pier 64". It's better than crisps .....
