"Dear women of the world,
On January 19th, many of you are going to flood the streets of Washington D.C, and cities around the globe once again. You are going to march for social justice, to uphold your rights as women and to resist the current leadership and social atmosphere.
I, like you, feel the pain and angst at the current state of our societies. I am distressed by the divisiveness that is tearing our societies apart. I am appalled by the corruption and greed that puts self-interest above the wellbeing of many. I am fearful of the lack of trust and empathy between us and our elected governments, between us and our fellow human beings, and especially in the younger generation.
As a mother to young children, I am deeply frustrated by the fact that we have built a society around egoic competition instead of community, family and nurturing. We have put women in such a pressured race for achievement and survival, that they must make the greatest of sacrifices.
I am saddened by the confusion we are in, that makes us give our power away to others, forgetting that it is within us.
I suffer at the lack of true connection and mutual care between us that results in a “dog eat dog” reality while people, the environment and the world crumble in front of our eyes.
Dear women, I believe, like you, that we deserve a better world. We deserve a better human society.
And I feel deep in my heart that the power to make this change is in our hands.
Except we cannot achieve our vision of a better world by fighting against oppression alone.
We must be the change itself.
We must recall the inner power that is within us, that same power that enabled women to direct and organize their families, tribes, and communities throughout history, to connect both men and women, and bring them together for a mutual cause of life and prosperity.
All of the men against which we fight, and towards whom we have anger in our hearts, were brought up by women. We are the educators of the world. We hold these male babies in our wombs for 9 months during which their brains are wired. Throughout their development into men, they sponge up and seep in our feelings, thoughts, and values. We raise them in our image, and we can do better. We must reclaim this power.
And to reclaim this power, not just as mothers, but as organizers and leaders of our common global family, we need to build the environment that will inspire women to be that model, for their children, for other women, and for men.
The environment we must create together is one where women are connected in mutual concern for our world, women who see global education for empathy, inclusion, and connection above differences, as the most important goal to achieve in our fragile times.
This is a deciding moment in our human evolution.
The human ego has reached its peak and can take us no further. It is now time to birth a new human culture: a culture where the family is respected and invested in as the central building block of our societies, where we invest in pregnant women and children, providing them the environment they need to grow beautifully because they are our future. It is a culture where contribution to others is valued more than wealth and power, where cooperation is stronger than competition.
This is worth fighting for. This must be our goal if we wish to truly make a change.
To fight for women’s rights is not enough. To bring women together to build a vision of the future we truly want, and to be that change — that will guarantee our success. Because women’s liberation starts with taking responsibility for global unity.
We can march in a straight line to defeat the hierarchical structures of men, but If we create a global circle of women, the circle that has traditionally centered, inspired and empowered us, to care for our tribes and families and to carry forward the feminine power ingrained within us, we will make a transformation that will reverberate from the depth of the soul of humanity.
My fellow sisters, let this year be a year to remember. The year that women unite to begin the shift towards a more sane, stable and happy humanity; through education; through messages of empathy and acceptance of our differences in our media; and through modeling the change we want in our actions, words, and visions.
Women will lead the world, that is the future.
Let us make sure we do it right."
