Something I've been working on.
I tried relaxing on Saturday. Weāve been using every spare minute to do little projects around the condo to get it ready for potential renters, AS YOU KNOW, so on Saturday, we woke up late, drank coffee, and watched the first episode of this season of āSurvivorā ⦠but J was restless.
Heād been reading up on our master bathroomās wobbly toilet. Now, Iād noticed the wobble the first time Iād used it, but whatever, sometimes a toilet shifts a little when you sit down. But J got it in his head that he needed to learn to fix it, so I quickly distracted him with another long walk on the beach.
And for the first time this trip, we stopped and laid our towels on the sand and took a nap in front of a beach restaurant playing 90s music, and then went for a swim in our heated pool and had chicken-topped salads and a Cadbury Creme Egg for our one meal of the day. Successful relaxation!
But of course that means we spent all of Sunday and Monday fixing the wobbly toilet. š
Hereās the toilet sitting in the middle of the bathroom once we removed it:
And hereās the toilet nook with no toilet (and saloon doors, @losingitinvirginiaā!) and a pot covering the pipe in the ground so no sewer gasses would poison us:
As with everything we attempt, it was a WHOLE TO-DO. We couldnāt figure out how to completely drain the toilet before removing it, the wax that the toilet sits on to keep it in place was all over everything, we figured out that our flange was cracked but there was no way we were going to replace that after watching videos on how to do it, and we noticed that the concrete around the flange was completely un-level so itās no wonder the toilet was shifty.
So we needed a trip to the hardware store to buy supplies, but of course the one down the street from us didnāt have everything we needed, so we ended up in the next town over, buying a new wax-less toilet seal and caulk and plastic shims to level the toilet and washers because who knows when you might need washers and a new wrench and also some grease (apparently thereās a product called āgreaseā), and I was like, āYou owe me dinner for all of this nonsense.ā š
But J was like, āEarly retirement, baby, early retirement.ā And I was like, āTHE BUFFET AT CICIāS COSTS $8.ā We both make six-figure salaries, and this is the only way I can convince my husband to take me out to dinner on the Valentineās Day long weekend. š
I donāt know if Iāve ever been to a Ciciās before, but I loved it. Thin crust and deep dish and breadsticks and pasta AND dessert?! Plus a salad bar so I could load my pizza up with jalapenos and banana peppers?!
I mean, this is also why Iām fat, but come on!
We shared all of this, if it helps at all. It doesnāt, does it? š¬
