Open letter to Makati City Hall
Dear Honorable Mayor,
iam an employee of your local government. Although im not working in city hall, i am working as a public servant. Not just because i am a government employee, but i serve the people as my vocation calls for it. It might have come to your attention, maybe up to the point that you might have wanted to avoid it, but alot of those people serving your local government has not been receiving their salaries. Or if they already received some, it was not given in full. Particularly those people working in Ospital Ng Makati. You, as a politician, very well know how long hours you have to spend just to address the problems of your constituents. And extend every minutes of everyday just to be able to cater to all of them. So, may i ask you to try to look into the position of those working in healthcare. We might not be working 24/7 just as you do, but all those long hours we spend in the hospital, trying to run it, attending to the most sickly, sometimes rudest patients but still trying to put a smile on our faces can be as tiring as running a whole city. And for us public servants, i think you will understand that even if we are trying to serve other people, we still need to live our lives. I know you might think that just because i am a doctor, i can or my family can support me for as long as i have not been receiving my salary. But bear in mind that alot of those doctors running around the hospital are trainees. We do not have private patients where we can get extra incomes to be able to feed ourselves everyday. But to be fair to everyone who is currently employed by the hospital, think about those employees that have families to support, and those who just does not have anything but their monthly salary to support their everyday needs. I am also aware of what has transpired to our local government, but as a public servant, please dont make it as an excuse to not be able to fullfill your obligations to those who work under you. We appeal to you as an employee, as a "servant" to the people. Please hear out our cries and try to be just. We are not asking for a raise we are just simply asking that you yourself do something about it. Thank you.
