you have to be kinder to people with memory issues.
you have to be kinder to people who are slow processors.
you have to be kinder to people who don't understand your jokes.
you have to be kinder to people who forget important dates.
you have to be kinder to people with cognitive decline.
you have to be kinder to people who were always this way, too.
you have to be kind. you have to be kind.
Being a TA for the spring semester course, hot, sweaty, overstimulated and realizing you can’t answer questions because apparently you’ve been science-ing wrong has to be the top 5 horrifying experiences. “Oh man, I don’t know…Don’t worry, I’ll get back to you with SOME answer.”
Right so now there’s a declaration for mathematicians and i’m feeling even more doomsday. Amazing, thanks.
I ASK FOR ONE GOOD DAY. ONE GOOD DAY.
Amazing quote for a section on topology.
its interesting being a weird autistic tranny as a kid and letting yourself get accustomed to the idea that youre just some magically antisocial loser who is "introverted" and is happy being alone and then you grow up and realize that actually you love being social you love hugs you love going out and hate being alone you just hated all of the social opportunities available to you growing up so much you let yourself romanticize solitude as a slightly less miserable state than interacting with people
Congrats everyone! We just lived through the entirety of information age!
Anyways since AI is replacing me, I guess I’ll go into the woods and live there, foraging wild berries and stuff.
“String theory is uniquely derived from basic assumptions about the universe”
Basic assumptions like the universe is made out of strings (technically referred to as shoestrings, a version of bootstrapping)
Just wanted to add something—I hate the way quanta mag reports on “string theory” like it’s this magical thing every physicist is enamored with. Terrible science communication on their part, imo.

I’m obsessed with my 19 year old coworker. I was telling him about how my crashout divorced dad got a sugar mommy by going to random churches and having screaming sobbing breakdowns in the pews until a random rich christian widow was like ‘I can fix him’. And he went ‘yo thats tech. The meta is changing.’
God I can’t focus these days, like I’ve tried all the methods—put my phone on dnd and in separate room, all types of pomodoro but it’s getting increasingly difficult to just focus and actually do my tasks. And the problem is in undergrad i’ve had other classes to focus so i would switch subjects and come back, but that’s kind of hard to replicate in my situation right now, any suggestions??
I just need to be focused for few more days and I should have a little break…
I know I’m done with this paper because I’m dreading the mere thought of it ever existing.
I too found god in mathematician’s office. He was my advisor. I used to cry during office hours.
Mathematics is so very psychological. The moment I decided sheaf cohomology wasn't unlearnable, it became learnable. The moment I decided derived functors weren't unlearnable, it became learnable. Etc. Having faith that the technicalities can be navigated is really the key thing I think.
Everytime i procrastinate and i catch myself procrastinating, i remember that tweet “omg you people can’t do anything” and i immediately get up to finish my tasks.
someone needs to remind me to stop working on my master’s report late at night (or at least drink a coffee when i do) because why is this just in here
