I made a house coat from an old quilt!!

This is the first time I've ever successfully sewn together something wearable out of yards of fabric (i've only ever reworked old clothes into slightly newer clothes).

I made a pattern by dissecting and tracing around a very old and dying sweater, and i also hand stitched all the pieces together. It was just easier for me to understand the construction by working extremely slowly this way. At one point I had to make a big adjustment and add darts to the front and back, and I don't think I would have fully comprehended how to "sculpt" the fabric if I wasn't handling each stitch.

Now that I know the coat fits and the fabric hangs well, I feel more confident running the whole thing thru the sewing machine to really secure and finish it up.

I was looking up facts about Cormorants to find a title for this and found out about the liver bird a mythological creature from liverpool that is literally just a cormorant which I find kinda funny
