Happy Holidays, Mr. Gaiman!
I’ve got a writing question for you. When you sat down to write American Gods, what was the one thing you kept in mind throughout the entire process?
Must... keep... going...
Hello Mr. Gaiman!
I was wondering if you had any authors you think are particularly special that you recommend? I’m trying to add to some new authors to my shelves.
Thank you!
Jonathan Carroll, Susanna Clarke, Ursula Le Guin, Kelly Link, Gene Wolfe, Diana Wynne Jones, John Crowley, John M. Ford.
Hello, Mr. Gaiman!
I apologize if this has been asked before. I was wondering if you have ever taken a long time on a novel or a series you have worked on? I have one project that is about seven years old now and while it is a big project, I cannot help but feel a bit bad about how long it is taking. I was wondering if you ever been in that situation, whether it was from the lack of motivation or from the size of the project.
Yes. For example, The Graveyard Book took about 23 years from conception to completion.
Hi Neil, I am currently studying opening lines of novels I enjoyed to improve my writing. I'm looking at Good Omens, which starts with "It was a nice day." May I know who chose this opening and why?
The original opening of Good Omens was “It was a dark and stormy night.” And then we thought “It wasn’t a dark and stormy night” was a better take on it. So that was where the book started for a long time. And so when we decided to begin it earlier, in Eden, we wanted another line that described the weather, and “It was a nice day,” seemed like an excellent one. Bland and innocuous and a line that breaks every single rule about what you’re meant to do with your first line. (Grab your reader by the lapels! Hook them in the throat! Never let them go!)

Excuse me Mr.Geiman
I thought that on today's shooting, Crowley and Aziraphale would feed the ducks at the park, but...
Where's Michael?
Hi Neil!
I’m a huge fan of Good Omens, and I usually see posts with you saying “Wait and See”. I ended up making this for you if you ever want to use it :))
I've saved it for when I need it.
Why do you like flooding my tumblr feed?
I don't like it. They make me do this. It's all jabbing pitchforks and "Flood! Flood the-bat-collector's tumblr feed or no more food until Tuesday!" at this end.
No, Harry, you listen, we’re coming with you. That was decided months ago – years, really.

Ignore the gif quality, i only found low resolutions videos, lmao.
“fuck you my child is fine-“
ma’am your child hasn’t paid attention to online school in a month because they’re dissociating into the grishaverse and manifesting season two of shadow and bone
being a teen writer is practicing interviews in the mirror for when you’re a best selling author while avoiding both writing and schoolwork
“fuck you my child is fine-“
ma’am your child’s comfort character is an emo seventeen year old boy who whacks people with a cane designed to break bones and thinks that the city harbour is his mother
What do you do when you're sad?
Go for a walk.
“And in the way that all the parts of another person whom you love deeply become intertwined with your own self: their heart with yours, their lips with yours, their fingers and toes with yours, their Now, their then with yours—”
— See Now Then, Jamaica Kincaid (via decreation)
I found this at my Barnes and Noble. I feel like this accurately describes your writings.
That made me smile on a cold, rainy day.
