I’m talking about myself a lot, even though I don’t really have my own story. I’m just a part of everyone else’s. Well, of course I have my own story, it’s just really just not interesting by itself. I’m just one of the puzzle pieces that make up the whole picture of that beautiful sunset, or those horses running majestically through a field of poppies. I’m not really sure if that makes sense, but to me it does. Anyway, it was a typical day at school as usual. I went to Art, Math and English, not really caring much at all. I like art, I’m just not good. I detest maths, but I’m good at it, and English is so so I guess. I got good grades, and by good I mean the best.
At lunch, Chloe invited me to sit at her table with her friends. I looked down on them all back then even though I didn’t really know them. Let me see, Chloe was friends with Hazel, Adrienne, Lucas, Kyle and of course Cooper, who always had his arm around her. To me, it felt like he wanted everyone to know that he owned her, but you could see that Chloe was insanely infatuated with him. It was as obvious as the great wall of China WHEN you’re standing on the great wall of freaking China. They we’re yammering on about something about a party when one of them asked me if I was going. I’m still not sure which asked me, they all looked the same to me with their similar hair cuts and clothes. “Uh, no I’m not. I don’t really do parties.” “Why not?” Cooper smirked. There was something sneaky about that guy, there always was. “I just don’t. It’s not my scene.” Chloe chimed in. “Madison likes different music, uh.. what do you like again?” “The Smiths.” “Who?” Asked one of the girls who was sporting a lot of lip-gloss. I chose to ignore her question, because I was a bit shocked. Who doesn’t know The Smiths and Morissey? “I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, uh The Neighbourhood that kind of stuff.” “I like Lady GaGa!” said lip-gloss girl who I think was Hazel. The group erupted into squeals and clapping. I was out of the conversation again. Lady GaGa was too mainstream. I picked at my cold meatloaf that was probably 10% meat. I flicked the peas on my plate with fork before I stood up with my tray and walked away from the table. No one noticed, which I was happy about. That way I didn’t have to explain that I didn’t want to even listen to their dense ideas and thoughts. It wasn’t even them back then, it was me. I didn’t like those people who followed the crowd, and I tried so so hard not to follow the crowd. I didn’t want to disappear into the abundance of students that walked around like zombies following the latest fad or trend. I liked to think that I would go on to do great things, like be the president because that’s what books or stories told me. That those girls who did their own thing were a million times great than those kids that didn’t have a unique thought in their head. That’s not always the case.
I dumped my tray at the nearest tray spot place and wandered around. This is what I hated at school. The wandering around between classes. I did feel lonely in fairness. I had to hold this moody demeanour and it was tiring, but I kept it up, hoping that someone would write me into a story with a moody vampire or that I was dying and I met the boy of my dreams or something else full of teenage angst. Subsequently, I was single. I was single for a whole lot of reasons. I was moody and angry and childish though I tried so hard to be mature. I had boyfriends, all of which were never serious and only lasted a fraction of how much I liked the guy. I had a girfriend once, but I was confused and apparently not a great kisser. She said I was moody, and I broke it off. I’ve come to realise that girls are bitches, and boys are stupid.
I used to think I was the shit before I even met any of my new friends. I thought I was different, unique and special because I liked different things. I was told once that there are about seven other people on the planet that look exactly like you. Those poor, poor bastards. I thought I would be okay though, you know, because I was me. I don’t remember when it was exactly that grew up and began to see that I wasn’t the only person that read Sylvia Plath, or listened to The Smiths, but that’s probably for the best. Looking back now, I was a pretentious dick that looked down on people for all the wrong reasons. People have their own problems and once you realise that everything is in a new light.
On my first day back at school, after Summer vacation, I walked around like I was so much better than everyone else. I had finally gotten my braces out after 2 gruelling years of watching what I could and couldn’t eat just on the off chance that they might snap and rip the inside of my mouth out like the girl at the start of Scream. You know the one, she was dangling from a tree? I know that wouldn’t happen, kinda, but I didn’t really want to take that chance. On the upside of not eating burgers on the first whim, I lost a little bit of weight. I’m not saying I was heavy to begin with, but I’m a girl, so I’m was to bitch about my weight no matter how thin or heavy I was. Anyway, I had my braces removed, I wasn’t smiling though. I never really liked school. It always felt like they cared more about what I was saying on twitter than wanting to teach me about, well anything. So even with perfectly aligned teeth, I was sulking around, trying to navigate my way to my locker without having to make small talk with anyone at all. My locker was of course the other side of the school, where all the soon to be seniors were hoisted at the end of last year. I walked past some of the kids that had just started school. You can always tell who was new, standing around by themselves waiting to see someone they recognised, or fumbling with lockers and the mountain of books that weight the equivalent of a small pony. As I made my way to my locker I heard a familiar squeak. “Madison!” That’s my name by the way. I never know how to introduce myself. I groaned and turned around to see my friend Chloe running over to me. I say running, but I really mean strutting her way over in her six inch platforms. “There you are! Oh I am so excited to be back! Aren’t you? Sorry we didn’t speak much over summer..” She must have kept talking because I remember her mouth moving, but not what she said. To be fair, this time I wasn’t being up my own ass, it’s just Chloe and I have been drifting apart for a long time now. I was reading John Green and fan-girling over TV shows and well, she wasn’t. I remember I tried to talk books with her and she couldn’t even remember a book she had read in her life. I’m not being a snob, but she was one of those stereotypical blonde girls that talked nails and make up. I just simply had no interest. “We spent the summer at Cooper’s Dad’s beach house! Oh! Did you see Khloe Kardashian’s tweet this morning?” “Eh, no. Sorry.” “Well look at it later silly! It’s a picture of her nails, you should try it out. Okay, have to head back to Cooper, love and kisses. Mwha Mwha.” She pulled me closer for air kisses, carefully placing her hands on my shoulders so she very obviously didn’t make a botched job of her freshly painted nails. As she shuffled away, I watched as her long blonde hair curled ever so slightly at the ends. I looked at the ends of my hair which were partially broken from lack of giving a fuck. Snapping back to reality I continued on my journey to my locker that seemed to be placed in Mordor. Unfortunately, and somehow fortunately, Chloe was my only friend. All that really meant was that nobody else cared if they talked to me.
I hung around by my locker for a while, tumbling and tweeting and went to my first class of my last year in high school. Thank God. I couldn’t wait to get to college and have intellectual conversation with attractive people drinking coffee and hanging out in coffee shops.
If you've read this chapter, PLEASE PLEASE let me know what you think.
SO BASICALLY, I'm not going to even finish that TMB story. You probably guessed that. INSTEAD, I've begun writing a new short story, so if you want to read it, I'm posting here, and on a different blog with just the new story.
I've had a bad summer, my mam was very very ill, and we almost lost her so I just had no time to even think about myself, never mind this story, so I doubt I'll finish it at all. Maybe one day.
when do you reckon the last chapter will be out cause i'm still excited... :P
I'm working on it when I get the chance, but it's a long one that's for sure! I have something i want to play out, but I can't just do it where I left off. I'm not working Friday this week so I think I'll have a duvet/writing day, so hopefully Monday if all goes well? I can't guarantee anything because I have lost so much morale towards this story :/ But as soon as I can, I'll keep you guys updated! x
Right. So you guys probably don't still look forward to this fanfic, but I'm angry with myself for giving up and not finishing it, so I'm going to post one last (long) chapter so that I can say I've finished it.
If you want to follow me on twitter or my own personal tumblr just ask! x
When I say universe, I mean the select 109 of you that follow me, and then the hand full of you who don't follow, but still take the time to read all about the little lives I've altered to make this story. Garsh, I sound so pretentious. I should (maybe) have one up tomorrow or possibly Monday.
I've had such a busy week between portfolio work and sleep. I had an interview yesterday, kinda. They looked at my work and that, and they'll assess me and give me my points during the week so I can see if I have enough to get into that college. It's all so very tiring. So yeah, that's why I've been busy, but mostly stressed.
Amazing <3 how is fanfiction fanfiction if it doesn't have nice smutty sections :) everyone loves smut... Glad its moved on a bit as well, the funeral wa getting me a bit down :( great chapter :)
Aw thank you dear :') I guess you're right, everybody needs a bit of smut every now and again! Yeah, I didn't want to drag it out anymore :/ But thank you so much :) x
